About Sue. Best way to reach is by text. Will get back to u soon as my job allows!

My name is Sue. I've always wanted a cabin. Two things it had to have - all feet on the ground (not hanging off a cliff) I'm afraid of heights! I wanted to be able to walk out the door and just start walking. Plenty of area for that. I love our cabin and hope you will too. The cabin was named after the street that our family's home of 36 years was on. We thought it had a good ring to it for a cabin. We purchased the cabin in 2011 and did a lot of work on it. A great get away for us and ours and you and yours. I've put my heart into this cabin and I think you'll see that as soon as you pull up to it . It' a great spot to call home base after a great day of exploring the Gorge or to stay put, relax and just enjoy. Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions. If you don't catch me, leave a message and I will call you back as soon as possible.

Why Sue. Best way to reach is by text. Will get back to u soon as my job allows! chose Campton

I came to the Red River Gorge for the first time, about a year and a half ago. Even with my fear of heights I fell in love. With that and the lifetime desire to have a cabin getaway - everything just fell into place. It was meant to be!

What makes this cabin unique

I love the location of The Retswood. It's secluded - but not too secluded. I love the lake and listening to the bullfrogs at night. I had the porch screened-in, top to bottom, to be able to sit outside without all those pesky bugs. I'm sure some will find their way in but that should be minimal. We have put several upgrades inside such as leather couches, flat screen TV, New refrigerator and gas stove. Oh! not to mention and awesome 6 person hot tub overlooking the lake.

A private and cozy paradise

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay this past weekend. The Cabin is very cozy and secluded. We loved our time on the porch overlooking the lake front. It is the perfect place to stay if you are looking for a private and relaxing getaway.

Cozy spot with all the amenities in a great location

  • 5 of 5

Sue was great about communicating, and the cabin itself is great. Not a ton of space inside, but 6 beds and a sleeper couch with a good living space and kitchen. The grounds are nice, being right up on the pond and a fire pit right down by the water. The hot tub definitely takes the aches away after a full day in the gorge.

The one item I would consider a flaw was that there were a few wasps and yellow jackets in the area. There was flying insect killer provided so we knocked a few out when we got there, then afterwards we had no issues.

Great house, beautiful surroundings, well kept, fabulous star gazing

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was perfectly appointed and worked well for 6 people. It was in a remote location so the stars were spectacular. The owner was easy to contact, kind and conscientious.Would definitely go back.

Great hot tub!

  • 3 of 5

The hot tub is the best part of this cabin! We stayed here 4 nights and enjoyed a soak under beautiful starry skies every night. It's very big, hot, and roomy and is just perfect! The house itself is a bit dated in decor but nice enough. The walls are rough-hewn so it's a bit rustic. Hubby enjoyed fishing in the pond while I read a book on the screened in porch. We hiked a couple of days and relaxed the rest of the time. All-in-all, a nice trip.

However, I would probably not rent this property again. The cabin looks private, but there are neighbors relatively close...close enough that we heard much of their conversations while sitting outside. That didn't bother us, just something to note. The thing that I had a hard time getting past was the feeling of lack of privacy. The entire front of the cabin is large uncovered windows, which is great during the day. However, we both felt incredibly exposed inside the house at night. To add to that, there is a caretaker who came to "check on" us after 9:00 one night, and to gain entrance to the home, he walked up on the porch through the screen door to the main door. As I said, we were very exposed just sitting in the living room. I was in my nightgown and looked up to see a strange man just a few feet away looking right at me. I was startled and my husband went to the door and tried to shoo him away as quickly as possible. Again, we hadn't called for anyone and he had no purpose for being there except to check on us. I was really upset and on edge after that and honestly wanted to leave, but my hubby moved some outdoor furniture in front of the screen door each night after that so that we would be alerted by the noise of moving the furniture if he came back.

I realize this might not bother everyone, but have wanted to write this review ever since we stayed there because I know others are like us and prefer to be left alone when going away for a trip together. I might be unusual in this, but I never rent properties where people comment about how the owner greeted them or lives next door, or was in constant contact with them. We lead very busy lives and really look forward to our trips and alone time a few times a year.

Just something to consider.

I loved it!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was perfect, very cozy and secluded! The view was beautiful, loved sitting in screened in porch reading and drinking morning coffee. Hot tub was awesome especially after a long hike! Used it everyday! The only complaint I had was the beds were uncomfortable, I have a bad back and neck so I always woke up with aches so did my husband! The owner was very nice, accommodating and easy to work with. Definitely recommend this cabin if you're looking for some R & R.🙂🙂
