My name is Sue. I've always wanted a cabin. Two things it had to have - all feet on the ground (not hanging off a cliff) I'm afraid of heights! I wanted to be able to walk out the door and just start walking. Plenty of area for that. I love our cabin and hope you will too. The cabin was named after the street that our family's home of 36 years was on. We thought it had a good ring to it for a cabin. We purchased the cabin in 2011 and did a lot of work on it. A great get away for us and ours and you and yours. I've put my heart into this cabin and I think you'll see that as soon as you pull up to it . It' a great spot to call home base after a great day of exploring the Gorge or to stay put, relax and just enjoy. Please do not hesitate to call me with any questions. If you don't catch me, leave a message and I will call you back as soon as possible.
Sue. Best way to reach is by text. Will get back to u soon as my job allows! purchased this cabin in 2011
I came to the Red River Gorge for the first time, about a year and a half ago. Even with my fear of heights I fell in love. With that and the lifetime desire to have a cabin getaway - everything just fell into place. It was meant to be!
I love the location of The Retswood. It's secluded - but not too secluded. I love the lake and listening to the bullfrogs at night. I had the porch screened-in, top to bottom, to be able to sit outside without all those pesky bugs. I'm sure some will find their way in but that should be minimal. We have put several upgrades inside such as leather couches, flat screen TV, New refrigerator and gas stove. Oh! not to mention and awesome 6 person hot tub overlooking the lake.
We loved this little cabin. It had all the amenities of home, but in a quiet cabin in the woods! We hiked, zip-lined, played board games, watched movies, put together a puzzle, fished, sat in the hot tub and spent the week enjoying the great outdoors. We were not permitted to have an open fire due to the weather conditions, but still enjoyed our stay. We brought our two small dogs and they loved sniffing around at all the new smells! We had a wonderful mini vacation! Loved the area so much we want to look for our own cabin to buy now!
This was our family's second stay at The Retswood, and I'm sure we will be back again. We have always found the cabin clean and in good condition, but when there was a minor issue, Sue was very responsive and helpful.
The hot tub is fantastic, as well as the screened in porch overlooking the pond. We also made great use of the nice new fire pit. Thanks Sue for letting us use The Retswood for another fun, relaxing vacation!
We had a wonderful time here in September. The cabin was very clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated for our two families. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a quiet getaway!
The cabin was perfect. Very well kept and up to date. We had a very comfortable 2-night stay. Would recommend to others!
Pictures and description accurately represent this cabin. Sue is very nice and easy to work with. The cabin was the perfect size and location for a girls' weekend to relax on the screened-in porch, hike, and spend quality time together.
Beautiful cabin in a peaceful & private setting. The cabin was clean & Sue was wonderful to work with. The cabin had everything we needed for our short getaway & the screened in porch was the perfect spot to start and end each day.
