Stunning View and Comfortable Home

  • 5 of 5

My daughter and I spent two nights in the Boathouse while she checked out Humboldt State. The location has beautiful views of the coast, quick access to nice hikes, and is very quiet. The two bedrooms (a queen bed in each) were large and comfortable, and the baths were clean with plenty of hot water. The kitchen was well equipped, and the small gas grill on the deck worked great. The living/dining room is large and comfortable. I'm planning on returning for longer with my wife (Redwoods National Park is 20 minutes away).

Best vacation rental ever

  • 5 of 5

We are a VRbo family. Every vacation home for the past four years (except one, which was a disaster, don't ever use VACASA) has been really nice, but the boathouse was the best so far.

First of all...The photos don't even do justice to the view and ambiance. A faint ring of a buoy, the air smells like salt, the fog rolls in and out, the sunsets from the deck can only be trumped by a short walk up the hill.

Usually, I'm squeamish about hotels and vacation rentals. I clean when I arrive, I wash bedding, I don't use throw blankets... if it's not brand new I can't cope. Not so at the boathouse. It's not updated....but everything there was so immaculate that really, it was like stepping back a decade or two into a brand new place. I even cuddled up with a blanket on the sofa. It was the most comfortable, inviting, clean place I've ever stayed. We cooked every day for our family of six every day and always had what was needed. Very well appointed. Even an oyster knife.

Our boys enjoyed a degree of independence that we usually would not afford them; it's a quick scramble down to the beach where they delighted in climbing rocks and popping the bubbles on the kelp that had washed up. We picked blackberries on hikes (they are literally everywhere) and were wowed both the wild flowers at every turn and the beautiful gardens throughout the neighborhood. The kids only wanted to come home to make s'mores in the fireplace (we are from Florida, so yes, we lit a fire in August)

Location was perfect. 3 minutes to murphy's grocery which is full of local and regional food...everything there tasted better. Three minutes to a sunset walk, three min to a beach walk, 5 min walk to The Eatery where we somehow found ourselves daily. 30 min to Orick for a horseback ride through the giant redwoods, 10 min to state park with sea lions and views galore....but if you just want to relax, there isn't a better spot in Trinidad....and frankly, I don't think there is a better town in California....maybe, but I have not seen one yet.

We went to Tahoe and Yosemite on this trip as well. Everyone agreed that Trinidad was the best part of our trip and the boathouse was the best place we stayed. We have a pretty firm 'no repeat' vacation policy because there are so many places to go, but just this morning, a full week later, by husband was talking about Buying something in Trinidad to live there half of the year when our kids are out of the house. So there you have it. Have fun

Impressive Home

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the most relaxing vacations I have taken with my 2 cousins. We came up from Southern Cal. to visit my daughter who lives in McKinleyville. And we will definitely recommend this home to anyone who is looking for some R&R. We can't wait to visit here again sometime soon.

Thank you!

beautiful view and great location

  • 3 of 5

The view was beautiful the home is older and had a smell to it that we covered up with candles. There was a misunderstanding as to the reservation so be sure to look up the rates for the home don't take the price on the advertisement at face value. We love Trinidad and had a lot of fun it the area.

Great views and location

  • 5 of 5

We booked this property for its great views. It was very clean. I normally don't book a property without seeing pictures of the bathrooms, but they were well done in a retro style and we loved them. The property is at the end of a street and had more privacy then most of the other properties in the area, with an unobstructed view of the harbor side of the ocean. From the patio with binoculars, seals could be seen on the rocks in the harbor. It was a short walk to the beaches on both sides of the harbor.
