15 minute walk to downtown; three bedrooms, one with two single beds and an additional two fold out beds in the living room. Large TV with wrap around sofa. Deck in the back with grill. Lovely front porch with two rocking chairs. Quiet street perfect for children and a wonderful large playground and park only one block away. Three minute drive to the Pinehurst Resort and/or Pinehurst Country Club.
This picture is of me and my son in front of the Pinehurst Golf Club. We like to play 21 together on Sunday's - Actually, to be honest we play 11 and I give him two strokes. (he usually wins) :-)
Joel Carner purchased this cottage in 2009
This property was in an ideal location: close to the best playground in the area (just 2 minutes walk) for my son and just minutes away from the best golfing opportunities in the world
I especially like that I can walk to the village and local bars and restaurants.
Ammenities galore, charming getaway with an amazing neighborhood. Enjoyed strolls in historic Pinehurst Village. Joel made a way for us to extend our stay and helped us every step along the way. Blankets, pillows, comfy livingroom to hurricane track watch football games and snooze. Great spot for family.
The pictures on the website is not what we saw when arrived. The home could not be seen from the road due to overgrown landscaping appearing abandoned. There were trash on the patio in the backyard and outside trash can hadn't been emptied for a period of time. Inside the house was dirty. The rugs, wood floors, and furniture were not clean. The house smelled moldy. The upstairs bedroom had a window that could not be secured, and the aircondition wasn't working properly. We called the property owner to talk about these issues and he had not return our calls. We had to leave the property and find another place for our family reunion.
First of all owner was very flexible and did try to fix the situation. He was willing to work with me for compensation, and did say he is having the roof replaced after his last renter. However the place had a huge leak in the laundry room that had to have been there for a while due to the musky smell. We were responsible for emptying the bucket since it rained basically every day, which wasn't ideal.
Unfortunately the AC went out the 1st day. He had a repair guy out the morning of the next day. Thought it was fixed but went down again. Tried to coordinate for a follow up but for some reason tech never showed up in the morning again (we needed to be there because of our dog). So we had no downstairs AC the whole week and the heat basically forced us out of the house at night.
The house was well stocked, decent size and in a good location (close to the resort). Unfortunately the only TV with cable working was the living room. The owner said it should've worked, even with being a technician, I couldn't figure it out in either bedroom. Thankfully the owner provided Netflix accounts as an alternative.
The final straw was when a different leak sprung downstairs in the master bathroom through the ceiling light. Unfortunate and if it hadn't rained all week perhaps our stay wouldn't have been so problematic. The owner was sympathetic for our situation, but until the major issues are fixed the place should not not have been rented.
Smells moldy on second day, first day was disguised with air freshener. Property should not be rented until bad leak in the laundry room has been fixed and aircon in good working condition. Leak is not new, looks ongoing, roof in laundry room splitting in half and looks like ready to collapse, smells like mold and rotten wood. Bad for health. House too hot cuz aircon was not working. Our vacation turned out frustrating and a disaster experience. Nobody followed thru the aircon repair.
House was very welcoming with all the amenities of home and more. Great neighborhood for jogging and the kids. Church is a short block away and the kids favorite playground park is 2 short blocks away. Thanks for making us feel so comfortable.
We loved it. Large space with room to relax in living room and enjoyed the TV (we did figure out how to operate it and it worked fine). Wonderful bathroom, also large. Our dog was welcome with a very small pet fee and we are always grateful for that. The location was fantastic with a trail running into the center of the village so we could walk our dog easily and enjoy the charming surroundings. Also great to walk to village for a drink or dinner. My husband jogs and the trails worked well for him in that aspect. We were there for 2 weeks so, we cooked some and Harris Teeter and Lowe's (both new) we only about 2 miles away. Also were able to purchase a punch card to have temporary access to First Fitness which is very close and as great exercises classes and a gym. Really enjoyed every aspect of this trip. P.S. we enjoyed it so much that we bought a house in Pinehurst while there and are closing on it next month! Thank you for a great stay!
