About Cheryl Hillis

My brothers & my husband had shared a vision of expanding my fathers buffalo ranch when additional property became available to purchase. With all our knowledge & experiences combine we have built 4 log homes & have been renting them out since 2004. All the furniture in this cabin has been handmade by the wood on the property! Even the covered wagon bed,(in Tatonka Lodge) that was custom built my my father. Once my husband retires from the US Army in about 6 yrs our dream will be to build our log cabin on the property & be more hands on. God has blessed us beyond our wildest dreams. We hope you love the mountains like we have all come to love being transplants from a very flat NY!

What makes this cabin unique

While staying at Buffalo Creek we feel you will really enjoy the peace & tranquility of being secluded on 65 acres. So many of our previous guest have wrote back & told us they had all these plans to sight see but then just loved hanging out in the cabin together enjoying the game room & seeing the miniature horse, buffalo, goats & llamas!

Buffalo Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

Buffalo Bungalow was absolutely beautiful down to every detail. We have stayed in many cabins in the NC mountains but this was the best one yet. Having our very own hot tub on the deck was wonderful. the back deck was such a pleasure to sit out on. At times we were able to watch the goats and miniature horses graze below. We didn't even go anywhere else because it was so peaceful and restful staying put.

Totally relaxing!

  • 5 of 5

Buffalo Bungalow was an incredibly relaxing getaway, due in large part to its location tucked into the trees of Buffalo Creek Vacations, but also due to the attention to detail in the cabin itself. The location is remote (also lending to the relaxed feel), but a 25 minute drive to charming Waynesville and 40 minutes to Asheville provides great restaurants, etc. The finishes in the cabin are all top notch, and with so many amenities--our favorite of which was the hot tub--we could easily stay in and completely unwind. We felt welcome, comfortable, and well cared for, with plenty of privacy. Between a neighboring farm's Scottish Highland cattle that grazed next to our space and Buffalo Creek's goats ranging in the woods under the deck (not to mention the birds all around), we got to experience animals up close and personal each day! My husband and I enthusiastically recommend this rental.

Caboose Extraordinaire!

  • 5 of 5

My welcome at the caboose was just wonderful! I arrived late, but that was no problem as I made my way up the gravel drive to be greeted with the glowing lights of a real train caboose! When I entered, I was absolutely delighted, and kept expecting to see HGTV crew pop out and yell, "Surprise!" It is absolutely done to perfection, from the moment you enter and see your name on the Welcome board to making yourself at home in the living/kitchen combo and kicking your feet up to watch the flat screen TV overhead or making yourself a cup of coffee in the adorable and perfectly matching EVERYTHING kitchen area! I posted and raved about it on FB, so hopefully lots of my friends and family will also get to check it out! If you love the whole "Tiny House" movement, then you will love staying in the caboose! Oh, and did I mention the buffalo? I was delighted to have part of the herd greet me in the morning as they slowly made their way down the fence line to drink out of the creek--I was excited as a little kid to be that close to such magnificent animals!

Phenomenal Bungalow

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing, relaxing week at Buffalo Bungalow. The house is set back in the woods and has so many features we hardly wanted to leave! It is close to many great hikes and the city of Asheville was fun to visit. Be sure to pick up some bison steaks from the outpost...best we've had!! We will be back for sure!!

Absolutely Amazing!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I just returned from a weeks stay at the Buffalo Bungalow and the words and pictures do not do it justice!

This cabin sits perfectly in the mountains just outside of Asheville, with buffalo, highland cattle, ponies and goats! The views are amazing and the cabin itself is perfect! We loved every minute and cannot wait to return! We especially loved the sauna and the hot tub! Perfectly located from Asheville, Gatlinburg or any other area you wish to see.

Cheryl was awesome and answered us right away when we had questions, but we never saw anyone! It was Ana amazing time and we highly recommend staying here!
