This lovely home is owned by British comedy magician Jolly Roger and his American wife, Artha (find out more about him - do a Google search - 'Jolly Roger Magician Arizona').
Artha is originally from the East Coast. A computer programmer by profession.
Roger is in the process of completing his second book, 'The Forest of Song.' A book of inspirational poetry.
Artha and Roger purchased this house in 2011
We have traveled all over the world and found the beauty, serenity and energy of Sedona to be incomparable. Having looked at several other homes in the area prior to purchasing, we knew this was the one as soon as we stepped into the home. The unique style and positive energy - as well as the ideal location - made this the perfect place for us to share.
We also own the home next door and visit from Phoenix at every opportunity! We rarely miss the 'free star show' the universe puts on each night as well as seeing the sun's first light hit the red rocks which are right outside our door! Red Rock parking pass also provided.
Had a wonderful time!! Came with friends to mountain bike and could catch dozens of epic Sedona trails from the front door step!! Artha and her husband were kind, available and amazingly accommodating!! I will be back with excitement and a smile!! Thank you for a wonderful trip!!
My Mom and I stayed in this lovely, spacious home in Sedona and loved the warm accommodations. Everything about this home says comfort - from the very comfortable beds, to the huge supply of towels (and washcloths which are always hard to come by in travel), to the well supplied kitchen, books and games available, and a beautiful view to enjoy with your morning coffee. I only wish the weather had been warmer to enjoy the outdoor seating! I must return in another season. Roger & Artha are the best hosts - so friendly and helpful. They provide a lot of information about the Sedona area. We were so happy to meet them - they even came over and started the pellet stove for us for a wonderful fire in the evening. The house is conveniently located and very easy to find with several restaurants very close by. The living room is very inviting and beautiful. I can't say enough how happy I was to find this home and hope to return on another visit to Sedona. It made my Mom's first visit to Sedona very special!
My wife and I stayed here the week of Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. This house made the perfect base for our time in the Sedona area. Note that the house is located in the Village of Oak Creek, so just a few miles south of the shops and restaurants of Uptown Sedona, but there is also much to see and do right in and near the VOC, including great hiking trails near the house.
Setting up the reservation was very easy. Artha is a delight to work with as she is so friendly and helpful. She provided excellent directions to the house as well as a detailed list things to know to make for an enjoyable stay. The most important was how to get into the house when we arrived, as we did not get in until well after dark. But the automated lights led us right to the front door and the key was right where she said it would be so we were in without any issue.
The house was perfect for the two of us, but I could see that it would be a great fit for a family or a couples get-away. Sure it is a little dated in terms of décor and perhaps a little worn around the edges but just on cosmetic stuff and that’s perfectly fine. It is cozy, clean and comfortable and that was what was important to us. Everything worked in the house. The kitchen was stocked with coffee, tea and condiments. There is a small grocery store (Webers IGA) just down the street to buy supplies, but check what is in the house before you go shopping. The rooms are nice size, there were plenty of towels and paper products and the bed was comfortable. There is a nice size TV in the living room with Direct TV (I assume these work as we never turned it on!). There was also a nice collection of board games. There was also a stack of books describing the local hiking options, something that I found very useful.
Our favorite feature of the house was the outdoor space. We used the backyard and the covered patio as our place to relax in the afternoon following a day on the hiking trails. Very peaceful and a nice place to watch the birds and rabbits frolic about in shrubs that line the property. While there are no red rock views from the outdoor seating areas, it is still a great place to hang out in the afternoon. However, the view from the front of the house does have a lovely vista of the famous red rocks.
Overall, we had a great stay in Sedona. The house worked out perfectly for us and I would definitely stay here again (and we will be returning to Red Rock Country!).
I would highly recommend this location if you are seeking a location that offers the beauty of the great Sedona area. The home is a territorial Spanish style home offering a multitude of comforts. The location is readily accessible to the hiking trails around Sedona. It is just a quick jaunt into old town Sedona for the night life and fine dining. I would highly recommend this location and I plan on coming back this Spring.
My husband and I stayed here for a few days after Thanksgiving. We didn't arrive until after 6pm and it was very dark. We had a bit of a hard time being sure we were at the right house since there are no streetlights and no lights on the street number sign. Once we figured out which house it was, we got inside and were happy to find a warm, cozy home waiting for us. The owners have supplied everything and more including food staples. No need to buy salt and pepper, etc. Lots of games for the kids and plenty of bath towels, washcloths and hand towels. The beds were very comfortable and the entire place was spotless. The view from the front of the house is spectacular. The location is great, a little outside of Sedona proper. The pictures on the website definitely do this place justice. We really enjoyed our time here though it was much too short. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did! Thanks to the owners for sharing this lovely place with all of us.
Stayed in Sedona with my 3 daughters for our annual mother/daughter weekend. Arrived November 18 & received a very warm welcome from Artha & Roger. Very spacious home; the living room was large with an adobe type fire place & a 70's feel. Tons of brochures available for review. Highly recommed visiting Bell Rock for the sunrise! The beds were especially comfortable & with 4 of us it was great having 2 full baths & a laundry room. Artha & Roger had all supplies necessary (plus) in the kitchen, bathroom & laundry. The paito & backyard were very enjoyable. If anyone asks our opinion, we will definitely tell family & friends to stay here. Very convenient location! Thank you Artha & Roger for the enjoument of your comfortable home.
