Very peaceful

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was a perfect get away to relax and regroup from a busy lifestyle. Debra was awesome and my dog loved playing with Jack. Kayaking, canoeing and swimming was perfect. We even caught some fish. We couldn't have ask for a better week. We are already planning our next trip back!

Great little getaway!

  • 5 of 5

If you want a nice little getaway for some peace and quiet then this is the place for you. I enjoyed kayaking on the lake, the sound of the loons and swimming in the lake. The stars are pretty spectacular too. Plus, plenty of trails to hike as well. Debbie was a great hostess and the cabin did not lack for any convenience. I highly recommend it to those who want to stay in a traditional Maine cabin.

perfect private getaway

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here two summers ago and couldn't say more about our experience! From the location to the cabin to the friendly owners, it was all amazing! Its away from it all without being too far from town. Cabin was clean, adorable, and had everything we needed. The lake frontage was everything we could want along with a beautiful yard. We weren't able to stay last summer but have booked our trip for this summer, and couldn't be more excited! Definitely worth the price, we wont be looking at any other rentals that's for sure :-) oh and pet friendly!!!

Historic Maine cabin in the woods

  • 5 of 5

This cabin is exactly as pictured and described - but the experience is beyond words! Morning mist slowly lifting to reveal a shimmering, glassy lake. Kayaking to the accompaniment of a chorus of loons. Jumping out of bed in the morning to get the stove's flames revived so I can chase the Maine chill with the warmth, smell, and comfort of a wood fire. Hiking the AT, Cascade Stream Gorge, and Bald Mountain trail. And sending an email home every night to let the family know that I am fine. A perfect vacation: restful, remote, and fun.

Wonderful Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Last summer I stayed here with a couple friends for our vacation. We chose the Birches based on the pictures in the listing and the property did not disappoint!!! I can't explain the amazing view we woke up to every day while while we sipped our coffee on the porch. Debbie, the owner, gave us tons of ideas of what to do during our stay. We visited Smalls Falls where you can picnic and jump into the waterfall, hiked the Cascades, and enjoyed walking around town. For low key days we walked the property, kayaked in the lake, and learned about the history behind this amazing property. You can truly make your vacation as active or relaxing as you choose given all the options in Rangeley. I can't wait to go back this summer. Thanks again Debbie!

My Favorite Place On Earth

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed at "the birches" several times with my family and friends. During my most recent stay last summer, I proposed to my girlfriend (while in the gazebo). Amazing views, sunset and relaxing setting. Minutes from the Appalachian trail, smalls falls, trout filled rivers, and the town of Rangeley (too many to list). Can't say enough about the owner Debbie, she is so welcoming and a wealth of knowledge of the surrounding area, she has become part of our family. The cottage we stay at has exceeded our expectations. A truely life changing experience. Can't wait to return!!!
