Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have had a better vacation. We got mid-summer weather in late September with perfect fall foliage. The one colder evening was quelled by a warm fire in the wood stove. Our toddler loved running around in the large yard and exploring the dock, gazebo, and woods with us. The nights were clear for star gazing with no noticeable light pollution. Deb was a gracious host with excellent suggestions for local activities. She lent us a hiking backpack to wear our daughter for our hikes and life jackets for canoeing. Jack was the perfect dog that every other review said he was. Our trip was the best escape from cell phones and the news. Thank you again for everything. We hope to come back soon!

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5

The owner and her family were very nice and easy to communicate and work with. We had as much privacy as we liked. We were able to use their canoe and kayak which was a huge reason for renting here as we do not have our own (they had 2 canoes and kayaks on site). We just had to bring our own life jackets but you can also rent these at one of the stores in Rangeley for $5/day. The lakeside property is beautiful and very serene and there were loons on the lake which we saw and heard every day. The cabin itself is just as described and photographed... it is basic but it did have a wood burning stove (wood is provided), the kitchen was equipped with plates/utensils/stove/microwave/fridge/towels and detergent and the cabin did have wifi and a TV. Most importantly I felt that the cabin was very clean. We visited with our two kids and small dog and we all fit very comfortably. They also have a dog, Jack, who was extremely friendly and was also very good with our dog, a female Chihuahua. We would absolutely come back here in the future.

Amazing place to be get back to the basics

  • 5 of 5

We just spent a wonderful weekend at the Birches and hope to visit again soon. The view at this property is just incredible and just so peaceful. The owner Debbie was very nice and lets you enjoy the entire property. We spent hours sitting on the deck just looking at the water and mountain views. The camp we stayed in was so nice, it was rustic but extremely clean. The camp has all the necessary things you need for your stay and is full of charm. When we came in to the camp there were fresh cut flowers from the properly as well as several small pine cones and a leaf that just turned red. Something so simple just sets the tone for your stay at the Birches. It was a cool night when we stayed there, so we were able to have a nice fire in the wood stove and warm the place up. The bedding in the camp was incredibly comfortable and warm. The camp is well furnished all you need to bring is your food and yourself.

With no cell phone reception at the camp we were able to totally get away and just relax. This is something we should all do more of, getting back to the basics and enjoying nature. We just spent hours playing games, talking and laughing. Not to worry, there was a land line phone in the camp, so you could make a call if there was an emergency. Also if you drive less than 10 minutes you get cell phone reception. There were several wonderful places to take hikes near by and Debbie lets you enjoy her kayaks on the lake.

We also enjoy our visit with her dog Jack. Jack was very friendly and my daughter and friend really enjoyed his company. He was around the property but never was a nuisance and we enjoyed our time with him. If you looking for a clean, quaint place to get away the Birch is the place for you. It truly is a hidden paradise that I highly recommend you visit when you want to get back to the basics and just enjoy life.

Thank you Debbie for our wonderful stay at the Birches

This was what you think of when you picture staying in Rangeley.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin itself is just right for a stay on the lake. It has just the right touches -- not too fussy and relaxing. The lake itself is just right if you're tired of dodging weekend warriors in too-big boats on other lakes. Deb is the perfect hostess, very welcoming and warm. I would absolutely go again. Thank you Deb & Jack!

Little slice of heaven

  • 4 of 5

Accommodations were very clean and cozy. Owner was a pleasure to deal with. Abundant room to roam on the property. A little slice of heaven , it was like having the lake to yourself. Absolutely a great place to unwind and relax.

Thanks Deborah.
