This 550 sq. ft., new, fully furnished, self-contained, one bedroom guest house with 2 decks, is above our detached garage behind our house. There are no shared walls and it is very private. We are located 3 1/2 miles south of downtown just outside the Ashland city limits in a quiet neighborhood of upscale homes on 5 acre lots.
You will especially enjoy stepping onto your completely private, 300 sf deck which overlooks a seasonal creek and the forest with birds, deer and squirrels in abundance. This is the perfect place to unwind, sip your morning coffee or a glass of wine, sunbathe, BBQ or just let the world go by. Comfortable patio furniture, sun umbrella and gas grill are provided for your enjoyment. A second deck looks north to amazing views of Grizzly Peak. You will think you are in a magical treehouse.
Your private, light-filled retreat features 3 skylights, lots of large windows, a ceiling fan, window A/C and vaulted ceiling in living, kitchen and dining area. There are tile floors, designed and installed by owners Marty and Michael, in the kitchen and bathroom, wood flooring in the living and bedroom. The bedroom is cozy with a handcrafted queensize bed constructed by Michael, with plush pillowtop mattress and luxurious 400+ count linens, plus comfy and warm quilts and blankets. In the dining area, you'll find a handmade maple and cherry dining table surrounded by four comfortable Windsor chairs.
The bath has a full sized tub with shower and a handmade walnut vanity with a granite countertop and upscale fixtures. Plush towels, shampoo and bath soap are provided for your convenience.
The kitchen is fully stocked with basics, such as sugar, cream, salt, pepper, tea and coffee. There is a full size gas range if you want to stay in and cook your meals.
You won't have to leave the world behind unless you want to. We feature wireless internet, Netflix streaming movies and cable TV, as well as a DVD player and stereo.
We have a herd of deer and a flock of wild turkeys who frequently roam the property, otherwise you will be left alone to make yourself completely at home. We restored the house next door and added your rental in 2011. We’ve lived here for 16 years and will be happy to give you pointers about our local wineries, hot springs and where to buy local healthy produce. We will also direct you to hiking and biking trails close by and offer any advice that can make your stay more enjoyable.
No smoking or pets please
As the property is on the second level and there are stairs to climb, it is not wheelchair accessible or suitable for small children.

My husband and I moved here 15 years ago and renovated our home on several acres. We added the detached garage with your apartment upstairs. We work during the day but will be available to answer your questions on check in.

We fell in love with the area, the people and the opportunities for endless outdoor activity. We love being so close to the Shakespeare Festival and the great restaurants downtown, but yet in a quiet, peaceful, country setting.
You will be able to walk out your door and enjoy an invigorating hike, bring your bike and head up the mountain for endless biking trails. Enjoy sunbathing, reading or drinking a glass of wine on your private deck which overlooks a forest and seasonal creek.
We had such a nice time in your beautiful place! We will be back to stay with you.
This is a 5 star VRBO for sure!
We came to Ashland for a wedding. We arrived a few days early to explore the city since we had never been there. This place was great. A little out of the way but only a 10 minute drive to town. Restaurants and stores nearby. Very quiet and peaceful. The place was very cozy. Great views off the deck. Had everything we needed. Bed was comfortable. We would stay here again if we came back to Ashland. Owners were very welcoming and friendly.
We couldn't have been happier. Everything as advertised and more. Easy access to the Shakespeare Festival and only a couple hours drive to the Redwoods, the coast and Crater Lake. You won't be disappointed.
A small but thoughtfully appointed stand-alone unit with an ample-sized deck and picturesque views of forest and distant mountains. We were made to feel more than welcome by our host and we enjoyed the peace and quiet of our location, which was only a short drive to the center of Ashland.
Marty and Michael were very welcoming and the place was perfect for our visit. Nice open layout, large deck with a fantastic view, and a short drive into town. The place was great to hang out in, clean, comfortable bed, and even a cool CD collection. Would definitely come back on our next trip to Ashland!
Panoramic retreat above the trees. Artistic design/furnishings, immaculately clean, unbeatable location in Ashland. Kitchen is easy to manage, even with a couple of guests for dinner. Quick access to downtown for a free concert on the green before a Shakespeare play, a quick jaunt up to Jacksonville for a Britt concert (seasonal), and more wineries than you can possibly visit. When you feel like taking a little drive, grab a picnic lunch and head east up to Lake of the Woods. The treehouse is the perfect size for two people wanting to get away from it all. Choosing between the two decks was the toughest challenge of our stay. Can't say enough about Marty and Michael - great communication, attention to detail, warm welcome, but all the privacy of being in a mountaintop retreat. If you are planning a trip when we next plan to visit, please disregard this review - we want it all to ourselves!
This was a wonderful place to stay while in town to see the Oregon Shakespeare Festival and also do some hiking. The rental was about a 10 minute drive from everything we wanted to do (eat, see plays, shop, walk on trails). The rental was clean and comfortable -- and the setting is truly magnificent, with two porches overlooking the beautiful hills! We would be glad to stay here again.
