Quintessential Palm Springs: This early-California style home was built in 1935 and has been completely remodeled consistent with that era. The 2000 sq ft house includes a massive living room with fireplace and open beam ceiling A separate living area provides TV, DVD and stereo. There are two ensuite master bedrooms in the main house and a separate casita with bath, walk-in closet and TV. The dining room and well-appointed kitchen complete the main house.
Enter the property through iron gates set in a picturesque brick wall. Walk past a charming fountain, through an old-growth cactus garden, complimented by olive and palo verde trees. Open the front door and to quote past guests:
'we felt like we were stepping into a very special place. The furnishings, artwork, bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen are all well appointed and provided us with a romantic and relaxing experience. The piece de resistance was when we walked out the back doors to our own private oasis. A magical place where we relaxed by the pool and spa while taking in the stunning view of the mountains.'
The property encompasses 2/3 of an acre, the back 1/3 of which is an orchard. Pick your own oranges, mandarins, grapefruits, lemons and limes.
Take a month or more and find yourself in this retreat used by Katherine Hepburn and Spencer Tracy when Palm Springs was truly the playground of the Hollywood stars.
Float in the pool with the sounds of the waterfall and birds in the background, catching the fragrance of the jasmine, gardenia and orange blossoms.
In the evening cozy around the outdoor gas fireplace in the outdoor patio located between the house and the pool.
The housekeeper will come once a week during your stay.
The luxurious retreat is located in the upscale Old Las Palmas neighborhood of Palm Springs. You are within 3 blocks (see map) of the sumptuous dining and eclectic shopping of North Palm Canyon, the Uptown Shopping District of Palm Springs. The area features boutiques (for example, Trina Turk) and a variety of gourmet food offerings.
On a slightly longer walk (6-8 blocks), you will find the world-class Palm Springs Art Museum, the Spa Casino, a Las Vegas style venue, the hiking trails of Mt San Jacinto and a large variety of restaurants offering whatever you are craving that day.

We fell in love with this home in 2001, while vacationing in Palm Springs. We bought it and moved from Portland, Oregon. We made it our family home. Our daughter was married in the orchard and our grandaughter has learned to swim in the pool. In 2009 we left Palm Springs to fulfil family commitments, but couldn't let go of this home. You will understand when you spend time at 776 N Mission Road! We are entrusting this special place for you to make lasting memories here also. Mary and Al
My husband and I absolutely love this property. Lots of privacy and great views of palm trees and the San Jacinto mountains. It is within walking distance of shops, restaurants, theater, and yet feels like a private oasis of quiet and peace with lots of birds singing and palms swaying. Lovely retreat and also good for inviting a few guests or family.
When we came here for our honeymoon four years ago, we promised ourselves we would be back again for a month. We truly love this place. You can lock youselves away in your own private paradise and enjoy the entertainment provided by humming birds and butterflies. Enjoy picking blush grapefruit for breakfast and mexican limes for the early evening obligatory gin and tonic The saltwater pool and spa are perfect, with great views of the mountains in the day and starry skies at night. At the front of the property is a delightful cactus garden. The outdoor fire is a bonus for cooler evenings. The area is very quiet and you can easily walk to a choice of local restaurants, although we used the BBQ most nights. The property is spotless (thanks Lilly) and well managed (thanks Frank). Would not hesitate to recommend .We would love to come back again ..and again..
Once again we luxuriated in this hacienda oasis for one month this spring. My husband and I and our small dog had the pleasure of privacy, convenience, beauty, peace, and lots of reflection time. Pool area is our favorite, as we both love to star gaze from the hot tub, swim in the early morning, bird watch and mountain gaze with the palm trees swaying. We live in northern California where it is wet and green and much cooler, so the Palm Springs weather was a perfect balance. Thank you again, especially to support personnel and the considerate owners. See you next year. . .
The property was exceptional, elegant but "comfy". Everything was on hand for a very comfortable and "inspiring" stay. The support personnel (caretaker and housekeeping) were exceptional and very friendly. The location is very covenient---walking and short drives---to many interesting destinations: shopping, art museum, canyons for hiking, etc.
Rising to birdsong and golden sunrise through the palm trees, the gentle waterfall of the luscious saline pool, and the sweet smell of jasmine, my body and soul expands and relaxes, letting work and worry slide away in this luscious oasis in the desert. My husband and I have spent a month at this historic and beautifully maintained mission style home for the last three years from mid march to mid april, finding Palm Springs the perfect setting to rejuvenate and warm our bones and roots! I love that we are so private and sheltered and that we can enjoy sunrises to the east as well as sunsets over the mountains to the west OUTSIDE comfortably. I have shared the house with some family and friends and it is so welcoming and so safe. . . I feel at home! It is a lush environment and is so close to town that we primarily walked to great restaurants for dinner and a little retail therapy, and yet it was so quiet, especially at night. The house is so well insulated that even when it was 90 outside we never had to turn on the AC. . . 75 degrees is so perfect! Our caretaker, Frank, was the perfect host, checking in on us periodically, but never invasive. He was generous and helpful. Let all the cares and worries go for a ehile and soak up the desert in style and peace. . folie a deux
