Magnificent penthouse overlooking the sea. Suit someone who appreciates the finer things in life and to celebrate those special occasions. Luxurious and fitted to a high standard, a jacuzzi as en-suite to the master bedroom and the second bedroom has an en-suite as well. Terrace is well appointed with trees and plants and fantastic for sun worshippers. Nestled by 4 star hotels that have entertainment open to non residents.

Coast/Beach: 2 minute walk to miles of golden sands, including blue flag. The 9km promenade stretching in both directions has numerous cafes, bars and restaurants. Benalmadena marina is easily reached on foot. No hills straight to beach

The lounge is spacious (35sq.m) with a large expanse of glass sliding doors looking out to sea. Plenty of seating and the latest Samsung LCD 37' TV. The modern open plan dining room which links the hall to the lounge has a table which can seat 8. Fresh towels and linen are provided for each guest and supplied for those staying more than one week. There is a lift to the sixth floor and then the wide private use only stairs take you one floor up to the penthouse.

6th visit so it's got to be 5* for us!

Previously I wrote 'if it's that good and we've been so often why not 5*' - do you know, it is for us, it has to be 5*.

The apartment is clean, spacious and well cared for, the outdoor space is amazing. The location is excellent, very close to buses, trains, boats and Malaga Airport. There are a wide variety of restaurants, guaranteed to have something for everyone with large supermarkets close by if you wish to self cater.

Without exception we have always had an excellent customer experience and consider Sue an absolute asset, warm, welcoming, knowledgeable and kind.

Obviously other discerning travellers are agreeing with us as we were unable to have our first two preferred dates for 2016 as they were already booked. Bah humbug!!

Great family apartment

We are just home from a brilliant holiday in this apartment. It has everything you could possibly need and the sun terrace is fantastic day and night. Wifi was a great bonus for the kids. The location was very central and the cafe below the apartment is definitely recommended! The apartment was spotless when we arrived and Sue was very welcoming. We will definitely come back again! Real Luxury in a Superb Location

It never ceases to amaze me how reviews can be so varied. Are they all really talking about the same apartment? This in was an absolute delight to stay in. It oozed decadence and luxury. Think along the lines of La Cage aux Folles with a touch of Ritz, and you will get the idea. Quirky is an understatement. If you want sheer luxury with sea views, yards from the best beach in the area, surrounded by many restaurants and bars, with a wonderful large balcony and panoramic sea views, you can't get better than this one.

Thorpe Bay

Great location

The location of this apartment is fantastic, one block back from the beach which can be seen from the terrace. There are a number of very good restaurants within a five minute walk, El Trillo and Spanish Garden do excellent 3 course set menus for about 16 euros and Rumours bar is a really nice place for a drink. Lots of bars and restaurants on the promenade and the beach is very clean. Also a short walk to a Lidl and Mercadona supermarkets as well as a reasonable Spar opposite. Also the terrace is excellent for sun bathing and dining and has a lovely gazebo area which would provide shade in the summer months.

Sue, the manager, was there to meet us and give us information about the apartment.

As for the accommodation, is certainly does not drop into the "luxury" category. If I were to rate it as a hotel it would be 3 star. Towels and bedding certainly need upgrading. As a previous reviewer has stated the decoration is very personal as this is the owner's second home and there are MANY personal items around which may be an issue with small children, as is the step.

The apartment is definitely not suitable for people with mobility issues as there is a step up into the lounge area with no rail for support, also the shower in the main bedroom (the bath is open plan into the bedroom) is difficult to get in and out of even for able bodied.

This has the potential to be a fabulous apartment but needs a bit of work. Would definitely return to the area but not this apartment.

Owner's Response: In response to this review , in our property advertisement we say that the lift only goes up to the 6th floor , so you have to walk up the last set of stairs and if you can manage these then you can certainly manage one step up to the lounge area , Towels and bedding are replaced regulary , The apartment is not sterile it is homely ( we think ) , as for the jacuzzi bath i get in it each time to clean it and have never had a problem . as the lady says it is prime position and we would ask you to read all the reviews and make up your own mind , We are getting ready for a new season and look forward to giving you a very enjoyable holiday This lady arrived with the main purpose to achieve a lower rent, she already paid the 2nd lowest of the season..All prices are clearly marked on the website and only by agreement with the owner a refund would be given.As she said she would not come back to this apt, I have already blacklisted her .

5th visit and home again, sadly......

Readers may wonder if it's that good and we've been so often why not 5*?

My rationale is that 5* would be absolutely faultless and could be misleading to discerning travellers viewing the accommodation subjectively.

Let's be honest, no two people share exactly the same taste in furniture, decor or soft furnishings so it is virtually impossible to please all of the people all of the time.

From our experience Annalisa, Martin & Sue provide an excellent customer service. Again, on arrival the apartment was clean, smelt fresh with a plentiful supply of linen. Since our last visit he patio area has been updated to include a decked, sheltered canopy. Perfect!

It was delightful to be greeted by Sue who is happy to share her local knowledge. An added bonus is that Sue is available throughout the stay to respond to any queries or concerns (not that we needed to bother her) and welcomes feedback.

Our holidays are for sunshine, rest, relaxation, walking and delicious food all of which is easily attainable at EDF Fontana.

We are already booking our next visit.

This is a second line apartment with the beach 2 minutes stroll from the front door, with miles of golden sand, including a blue flag. The promenade also takes you to the 'Carihuela' probably Spain's most famous restaurant area, about 150 restaurants many of them fish specialists with a more traditional Spanish influence. Supermarket and corner shops on your doorstep. Local bus outside or 200 meters major busroutes. Ample bars restaurants and 4 star hotels across the road with all evening entertainment. Free Entrance and Happy Hours. A short Busride away Super Sport Centre with Olympic Size Swimming Pool.Benalmadena Marina , Quoted the most romantic for 5 years, short stroll, can be seen in the evening from the balcony with its fairy lights.

Golf: Very many golf courses nearby. A total of 42 between Torremolinos and Marbella.

Ski: Skiing in the Sierra Nevada just two hours drive away.
