Overview

Putnam Station House Rental Photos and Description

House, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2.5 Baths, (Sleeps 8).

'That Red House' is a recently constructed lakeside home. The house design is eclectic and unique with both modern and Adirondack decor. The Great room is open and airy with cathedral ceilings and is surrounded by numerous windows and an unobstructed view of Black Mountain to the south. Teak wood and tile floors run throughout the house.

The gourmet kitchen, fully stocked with all cooking implements, dishes, etc, is adjacent to the Great Room. Nearby is a wet bar, dining area and powder room.

There is a 15' X 20' deck adjacent to the great room for simply relaxing or enjoying a meal lakeside. As well, we have a covered Adirondack porch 7' X 16' which offers privacy and a spectacular view of the lake to the south.

The Master bedroom/bath is on the main floor with a large tile shower, washer/dryer and an over sized sliding glass door to the deck. The 2nd and 3rd bedrooms, both with a view of the lake, are located on the lower level as well as a large recreation area, triple bunk bed and a second full bath. A sliding glass door provides access to the lower sitting area complete with Adirondack chairs, a fire pit and a view of the lake.

We are part of an association which boasts a large deep water U-shaped dock with a slip available for a boat up to 20 feet in length. As well, we have 5 to 6 kayaks for our guests use. Swimming off the deep water dock is a breeze due to two sturdy ladders making it easy to get in and out of beautiful Lake George. Guests with small children may wish to visit the town beach. Gull Bay town beach is a five minute drive from the house and is located in Gull Bay. It is a clean and quiet sandy beach that slopes gently into the water.

Keywords: Lake front, gourmet kitchen, stunning views, private, quiet, beautiful sunsets, kayaking, fishing, boating & swimming

About Marta Kolman

As a child, I spent my summers in a boys camp that my Father ran for many years. Although I loved the lake and all the water activities, I did not like being the only girl in the camp (besides my mother)! Since that time, it became a fantasy of mine to have my own spot on Lake George. Having this home has far exceeded my wildest dreams. I cherish every moment I have on Lake George and cannot believe my good fortune. I love being able to share my dream & joy with people who value and appreciate Lake George and the Adirondack mountains, as I do.

Marta Kolman purchased this house in 2010

Why Marta Kolman chose Lake George Area

As Thomas Jefferson once wrote to his daughter.., "Lake George is, without comparison, the most beautiful water I ever saw...," says it all!

What makes this house unique

We designed & built our home to capture the natural beauty of Lake George and the surrounding mountains whether it be from the great room or from the decks. We have focused our efforts on providing many modern amenities for our guests to make their experience that much richer and memorable.

PERFECT VACATION ON THE LAKE

  • 5 of 5

SO this has to be the 3rd or 4th time returning to this house. WE LOVE IT. Especially the owners, you create such a great relationship with them it doesn’t even feel like your renting rather than just staying in a friend’s lake house instead. They are lovely, kind, and very caring about your stay in their home. They want you to have the best time and adventure.

The house is amazing, clean, spacious, and comforting. Everything you want is stocked in that place from dishes pots and pans to even fishing rods and a dog bed if you’re bringing your beloved 4 legged children. It’s very private and peaceful, short drives to sites and shops. There’s a local fire department nearby that does AWSOME barbeques (if you happen to be there in the summer), great views of the lake and mountains, nature all around you, and a space on the dock if you decide to rent a boat.

If you like the outdoors including hikes, walks, woods, exploring grounds then this is great for you. You can take out there kayaks and paddle boards and explore Lake George around you. They have life vests and fold out chairs for the dock, and its SOOOO nice fishing off it bright and early in the morning. I actually watch the turtle’s surface in the water since it’s so clear, I can even see the fish swimming at the bottom, and it’s truly peaceful and relaxing.

This house is great for families since cooking can be such a breeze with all their working appliances and grill. The deck is big enough to have dinners outside with a cool breeze since your up in the trees. Great fire pit with Adirondack chairs if you even want to cook over the fire and enjoy the cool nights while watching the moonlight reflect off the lake.

Like I said I lost count of how many times we’ve been there but were going again next summer! Can’t beat the location, area, and owners! Anyone would have a great time in this house, it’s for all ages and all kinds of families!

My father says “Get while the Gettins Good” meaning…RENT THIS HOUSE!

OH and the best part is that there’s this little tree frog who always returns in the summer and it becomes your outside pet. It’s so adorable and cute. there’s nature all over, it’s really a nice getaway from the city.

Thanks Marta for a wonder time AS ALWAYS!

Wonderful home with fantastic hosts!

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed a wonderful week at Lake George. We love the lake and have been coming for years. This was our first year at 'That Red House' and truthfully we can't wait to go back. The house was wonderful, every detail and need was thought through and provided. Marta was so quick to respond to any question we had and easy to work with. It was a great family trip and gave all of us time to just enjoy being together. Thank you, Marta, for sharing your beautiful home with us.

Fsmily fun

  • 5 of 5

A beauiful home on a quiet part of Lake George. Nicely decorated with a well equipped kitchen to meet all your cooking needs. Homeowner was extremely responsive prior to and during our stay with any concerns we had. We would recommend this rental to families of most ages. Elderly may have difficulty walking down to the dock but there is a turn off to a boat launch area that can be used if necessary. We enjoyed using the kayaks they had available and utilized the dock for our deckboat we had rented across the lake.

Making memories with good friends

  • 5 of 5

This house exceeded our expectations. The pictures do not do it justice. We were blessed with perfect weather which helped of course. The home is so well appointed and clean we were impressed as soon as we got there. We were for adults and to 11 year old children. They love the triple bunk beds. They took turns on who had the top bunk. My son said it was very cozy. The beds we're very comfortable. It is such a peaceful and beautiful part of Lake George. The fire pit was used every night. We did not want to leave.

Owner's Response: The triple bunkbeds have definitely been a hit with the kids who visit our house! It is always a treat for me when I read a review such as yours. I am so very happy you all had a great time and were able to host your friends from Russia in such a beautiful part of our country. I'm sure they will return back to their country with lots of great pictures and memories. Thank you for being such exceptional guests!

Fantastic home with awesome views

  • 5 of 5

Best house we've ever rented. Unique features (tree trunk supports on porch and along staircase to lower level), comfortable furnishings, beautiful décor, well-stocked kitchen, everything neat, clean and organized! Perfect home for our week away. Our nineteen and sixteen year old sons had lower level to themselves, with their own rooms and bathroom, TV area, dinette set to play card games and access to lower deck and fire pit. Hubby and I in main level master had access to the kitchen and great room and could get up as early as we wanted with the dog and no worries about being quiet.

Marta you really have a knack for thinking of everything! Communication was always prompt. Thanks for the s'mores fixings. Sorry I didn't get to meet you and Lulu. Hopefully next time! We loved Lake George and have lots more we want to explore!

Owner's Response: What a wonderful review Paula, thank you so very much! I'm happy that your family and you enjoyed our home and beautiful Lake George. It is great that the kids set up downstairs (that was exactly what I had in mind when I designed & organized that area) and that you and your husband were able to enjoy the great room with uninterrupted views of Lake George. I look forward to your return!

Spectacular!

  • 5 of 5

If you want to have a vacation to remember, this one is for you. Pictures don't do it justice. Location is out of the magazine. Views are breathtaking. House is clean and very well organized. We did not want to leave! Martha, thank you for letting us stay at your house. It did not feel like a rental property. It was a truly nice, well kept home. The hostess is very responsive and answered all of our questions.

Tip: arrive during daytime - it is located on the steep hill and could be hard to find at first but so worth it! We arrived at night and woke up in paradise. We are recommending this house highly.

Owner's Response: Thank you Nadia! That is quite the compliment, "out of a magazine"! With Lake George as a backdrop, we have a head start! And yes, I always recommend that my guests arrive during the daylight hours, the last 1/2 mile can when first experienced, really catch your attention. Fortunately, our association voted at our annual meeting this year to have our private road paved, which will be so nice. Thank you for being such caring & respecful guests, I would live to have you back!
