Simply Beautiful

  • 5 of 5

This was our first trip to Jekyll Island. The town home was perfect for our family of four. The space was clean, well maintained and decorated beautifully - very comfortable. The kitchen met all of our basic needs, plus linens were included - which typically is not the case with rental properties. The location was great, with beach access being a few yards away. I would stay here again as we plan to visit the island yearly. Simply beautiful! Thank you.

IN FACT I was looking online to contact manager to see how far we needed to book out for our next visit when I saw a review that I just could not believe. Yes,there was a smell of bleach when we arrived but it went away after opening the doors for a few minutes. We could not have been happier with our stay. EVERYTHING was clean and in order. Kitchen was well stocked and plenty of towels and linens. There was not a bug in site and everything was wiped clean and in working condition. It was a nice quiet(which we needed)visit and a short walk to the beach. We saw deer every day in the yard and on the way to the beach. AND what a beach it was. Very isolated when we were there and that was exactly what we were looking for. Like the title says....We WILL Go Back! The only recommendation I would give is grocery SHOP before you arrive on the Island. While the Island market was quaint and fun to visit it was a bit pricy. There is a grocery just a few miles across the bridge towards Brunswick.

Do not stay here

  • 1 of 5

This is our 4th summer coming to Jekyll. I will never again stay at this rental again. I am currently writing this review as I am sitting in the bedroom of this rental. I can't relax. This place is so filthy. Shower is moldy, wifi does not work, the smell of bleach is giving me a headache, old dirty furniture, food crumbs on counters, fans look like they have never been cleaned. I literally can't relax. I am so uncomfortable that Ive cried. The manager has not helped at all. 5 minutes after arriving I immediately contacted him to let him know how dirty it was and he told me to open the door to take care of the very strong bleach smell. My children can't sleep on the pull out couch as my 10 year old is complaining about the bar in his back. Such a shame. I wanted just one more beach vacation before my kids go back to school and this has been a nightmare and we've only been here for less than 8 hours. Sleeping with the lights on tonight. Scared something is going to crawl in me, that's how dirty and old it is here. Do not stay here.

Owner's Response: I've taken several deep breathes, and started, deleted, and restarted my response several times. What I would like to say about this guest would be very unprofessional. Let me start by saying that while I am sincerely sorry that this person had a bad experience, my guess is that the only thing that would have made them happy is a free vacation as the result of "Bad Review Blackmail" which is what they were angling for, and which we do NOT succumb to. The ONLY thing I am willing to accept responsibility for was the initial and temporary strong smell of bleach upon their arrival. A nearby unit also cleaned that day by same cleaner also made a comment the bleach smell was strong when they entered. Turns out a restocking error resulted in Commercial Strength Bleach being used and therefore dilution ratios were off. This One Time event has been remedied. The other guests that arrived in a similar unit – cleaned by the same cleaner - reported exceptional cleanliness, and were fully enjoying the accommodations - and while they did comment on the bleach said they opened the door for about 20 minutes and it quickly dissipated. (This is the only solution I knew to provide the complaining guest - and I even told her to run the AC full out so as to not even be discomforted by the heat. I still do not know what else we could have done. Yet this is when she moved on to even bigger and more dramatic complaints.) This guest could not figure out how to enter Wi-Fi passcodes which were clearly posted – and were Correct & Working, and which our cleaner even drove by and "hooked into" verifying they worked. This guest complained of "Dead Bugs everywhere and filthy mold everywhere" and yet we have never before had such a complaint, and we are on a regular pest contract, and I have not had a complaint in my memory about bugs nor could she provide me a single photograph of bugs when requested. Much of the furniture was replaced new 2 years ago. I have also NEVER had a similar complaint about our cleaner who has been with us 5 years - and gets rave reviews. So in addition to attempting to harm our business because she didn't get what she wanted, she has slandered a good employee. I DO NOT AGREE WITH THIS REVIEW and hope VRBO and future guests will weigh it’s truthfulness against all our other reviews, and realize that it is neither deserved, nor truthful. There ARE limits as to what can be expected, and what I will put up with. This was one of those times.

We were very happy with our stay! Close to the beach (it really is the best stretch of beach on Jekyll Island!), not far from restaurants. We, by chance, saw the housekeeper a couple times during our stay and she was very nice and helpful both times. The condo was very clean.

Wonderful Birthday Week

  • 5 of 5

Our first time to Jekyll Island--and will not be our last. We had such a great time. The Townhome was perfect. Just the two of us--so plenty of room. Bed was comfortable and everything was clean--and smelled clean. Loved the bike trails. We rode our bikes everywhere. We circled the island several times and enjoyed the sunrise on the beach--which is so convenient to the townhome. We ate dinner and the Jekyll Island Club Hotel for my husband's birthday. Beautiful place --lots of history. The manager of the townhome was very helpful --would recommend this place to my friends and family---actually ---I already have.
