This recently remodeled coastal cutie is perfect for one or two couples (and comfortably sleeps 5 adults) who want to enjoy a comfortable and relaxing retreat. This spacious 1500 sq ft remodeled home has an open floor plan with unique tree captioned views of the north end of Bodega Bay (visible from most rooms). Bay View's decor is best described as sophisticated beach, with artwork from Sonoma Coast artists throughout the home! The home's layout allows you to visit with guests in the newly updated kitchen, living/dining room, bar area, and sun room while enjoying the view of the bay. Curl up on the large leather sectional sofa (with recliners at both ends) and watch streaming, Netflix, Hulu Plus, Amazon Prime and DVD/Blu Ray movies on the flat screen HDTV or enjoy a book in the overstuffed chair by the cozy blue enamel gas log stove.
There are 2 beautifully decorated bedrooms, each furnished with a queen size bed and heated mattress wrapped in premium cotton sheets for chilly nights. There is a spacious main bathroom with soaking tub / shower combo. private access from both bedrooms, a large granite vanity, and heated towel rack! A cozy double bed with a memory foam mattress provides additional sleeping space for an extra guest or two, and a great place to relax and enjoy the view or watch movies. A second full bathroom and laundry is conveniently located off the main living space. This area also contains a large desk area with a handy electronics charging station and printer.
For the cook there is a recently remodeled large fully-equipped kitchen with a 5 burner gas stove and double electric oven, and separate fridge and freezer units for ample cold food storage. The 10 foot glass mosaic topped bar opens to the great room and provides a fun place to sit and visit with 'the cook(s)' and enjoy a glass of Sonoma Coast wine.
Relax in our enclosed sunroom that leads outside to the 450 square foot deck and large sunny fully fenced yard where you will find the seasonal fire pit/conversation area, a gas BBQ, and hot tub! At times you will hear the ocean waves, fog horn and seals playing in the distance. You can always smell the clean ocean air the minute you step outside!
“Bay View” has a rare view of the tip of the north end of Bodega Bay (captioned by redwoods and cypress trees) and the road to Bodega Head. The view changes constantly with boats heading out to sea during the day and returning home at night. During the full moon the bay glistens. However, when there is no moon the stars fill the sky and the bay sparkles with lights from the area inns and the returning fishing boats.
Centrally located, the 'Bay View House' sits on ¼ acre at the north end of the town of Bodega Bay. Located close to the Ocean, the Bay, and Town our location provides convenience while still providing privacy and solitude. We are less than 5 minutes from Everything! (the restaurants, trails, Bodega Bay, Bodega Head (whale watching), Bodega Habour Golf Course, Porto Bodega (charter boats), Chanslor Ranch (ocean view horseback rides), Doran Beach, and entrance to the beautiful Sonoma Coast State Park (comprised of miles of sandy beaches). Getting to the beach or bayside is a 20 minute walk (3 minute drive). The Bodega Bay Community Center & The Children’s Bell Tower, a gift from Italy in honor of Nicholas Green and the trails surrounding the monument that lead to Bodega Dunes and Salmon Creek Beaches are only a few minute walk from the home. Here you will find the beginning of the Coastal Prairie section of the new Bodega Bay Trail. This is an easy trail that starts near our home and goes to both Bodega Dunes & Salmon Creek Beaches. In the dunes you will pass an old Cypress tree where Monarch Butterflies stop during their yearly migration. As you travel through the dunes to the beach you will see vernal pools which change with each season. Memorial Day through October walk 5 minutes to the community center's Farmer's Market with live music, veggies, baked goods, meats, jams, and more every Sunday till 2 pm. There are many things to explore both on foot and by car. Whether you spend the day exploring or just relaxing, you are sure to enjoy our cozy coastal retreat.
Other amenities include ample parking with loading and unloading right at the front door (and plenty of room for your boat), free long distance calls, Streaming Netflix-Hulu Plus-Amazon Prime Video, Blue Ray/DVD player, movie library (including The Birds of course), area guide books, binoculars, Wi-Fi, and CD/IPod/Mp3 stereo. Our house is equipped with a special tower that enables AT&T cell users to get excellent service (AT&T service is generally poor on the coast). Verizon reception is also good.

Coming to the Sonoma Coast every year for the past 25 years I dreamed of someday calling this amazing area home. In 2004 I decided it was time to focus on my dream. So after watching the area real estate listings diligently for the next 7 years (for just the right fit) it finally happened . Christmas Eve 2010 we decided to pack up the dog and take a road trip to check out the home as soon as it was listed. It was in total disrepair from years of neglect. The outside of the house from the roof down was rotten. The inside was better, but required much work. I loved the layout and location of the home. I have always loved interior design and decorating in addition to any kind of DIY activities (both structural and creative)...and decided to accept the challenge. Three years of work and a lot of weekends later... The Bay View is now a cozy coastal retreat. The home has given me a place to both be creative and relax while escaping the Sacramento Valley heat. It has been a true labor of love.
Janice purchased this house in 2011
We love the Sonomoa Coast! When we found the Bay View House (in spite of its condition at the time) we fell in love with the convenient central location that is just a few minutes to town and restaurants, the Sonoma Coast Beaches and Bodega Head (our favorite place to go) We also loved the large 1/4 acre fenced yard and of course the hillside peek-a-boo view of the bay that is framed by trees and a small valley (providing constant changing scenery, including night time activity of boats returning from sea). The open floor plan was another plus that enables you to visit and enjoy the view from the entire living area.
Large 1/4 acre fully fenced yard (a rarity at the coast). One of our favorite features was a pleasant surprise...the temperature/weather relative to the position of the home! Bay View is located in a micro-climate (known as the sun belt) which is often clear even when the coast and bay are foggy. Additionally, the position of the home allows the yard protection from the chilly ocean winds. The yard is often sunny, and the temperature can vary 10-20 degrees from the front to the back of the house! The sun heats the home through the large windows on chilly days!...But if it is too warm, simply open the front windows and the ocean breezes quickly cool the home. Eco-friendly heating and cooling! We often escape the fog banks, but are still close enough to hear the ocean waves and sea lions play in the distance in the evening.
This is the third time this year we have stayed at Janice's lovely home just slightly north of the town of Bodega Bay. It is a peaceful and dog- friendly home with a fully stocked kitchen for those chefs like us that appreciate it, and great attention to detail such as bed warmers, towel warmers, comfy day bed, relaxing deck and hot tub, good wi-fi connection (although that is one thing we wanted to avoid!), fenced back yard, and fantastic access to dog friendly trails and beach access (no dogs allowed on this particular beach but Janice gives you a list of all dog-friendly beaches). We love Bayview and look forward to our fourth visit!!
Wonderful, comfortable, CLEAN home. Great location. Lots of attention to detail.
We really loved staying at this wonderful home. The location was great, with a walking trail right from the house for us and our dog to get some exercise. The house was very comfortable, amazing kitchen for cooking our thanksgiving dinner, large fantastic yard, comfy beds, and a delightful sunroom. We truly felt like we had everything we needed. And the owner was extremely responsive to our questions during our stay.
BayView fit our needs perfectly. After 3 days in San Fran, we couldn't wait to get to wine country. We needed a "base camp" for 2 couples that was easy to get to, big enough to not be in each other's way, and close enough to the Pacific to satisfy our east coast need for some ocean time. We couldn't have found a better place.
Janice was great, from our first eMails, right through to wishing us safe travels home. BayView was exceptionally clean, well stocked with everything we needed, and a calming layout that welcomed us "home" after long days of wine touring. We were able to cook in, and eat comfortably along with 2 guests that were staying nearby. The hot tub under a starry night was the perfect way to unwind after all our vineyard traveling.
We can't recommend BayView enough ! Thanks Janice !
This was my first time at Bodega Bay View, so I was understandably nervous that the property would fit my needs. I was more than pleasantly surprised! What a great place! Open concept, loved the IT area, large kitchen, and plenty of room in the backyard. The little garden was adorable and I enjoyed cheese, crackers, grapes, and wine at the little wrought iron table. It was a beautiful weekend, so being outdoors took top billing of things to do. My mother spends a lot of her time enjoying the sunshine and she was able to do an ample amount of that! There were so many extra touches in this place, it felt so homey, I am certain we will plan a return trip her again.
I highly recommend this home to anyone looking for a good getaway in Bodega Bay!
Great 2 bedroom home with 3rd sleeping area in living room. Comfortable, quiet and relaxing.
Walkable to beach/dunes thru the RV camping site and community garden. Follow the new handicap accessible trail to Salmon Creek, and walk the quiet streets to the dunes. Walk south on the dunes to the pier and back towards the rental.
Walk to "town" not advised on the busy road with no sidewalks, but we coordinated out daily trips to reduce car time.
Great kitchen with staples stocked for cooking.
Fireplace and towel warmers to take the chill out of foggy mornings.
Close to Russian River, Armstrong Nature Preserve (big trees) and great trails/wale watching on Bodega Head.
Bay View sits on a fully fenced 1/4 acre overlooking Bodega Bay. The home is centrally located at the north end of the town of Bodega Bay, putting it less than 5 minutes from the restaurants and shops, bay shore, Bodega Dunes, the Sonoma Coast beaches, Bodega Head (for whale watching) and several hiking trails. Our convenient location puts you in the heart of all the activites that the Sonoma Coast has to offer... while offering a private, cozy & well appointed home to relax at the end of your day of exploring.
