About Avi Selvig

Penticton has been our home since 1992 and we thoroughly enjoy the beautiful Okanagan weather, we enjoy motorcycle riding, hiking and wine tasting. I was born in Greece and my family moved to Vancouver when I was 4 years old and then moved to Penticton when I was 13. I moved away after high school and then my husband David and I moved back here in 1992 to raise our kids close to my family and in a small town atmosphere. David is a plumber and I manage our rentals and have an artisan business at the farmer's market www.naturalwoolknits.com.

Avi Selvig purchased this house in 2005

Why Avi Selvig chose Okanagan Valley

Our beautiful executive home is a perfect spot for a holiday because it has everything you would need including a salt water pool, hot tub and view. We have had many guests say our home is more beautiful in real life than in the pictures! We think Penticton is the place to stay forever - the weather is beautiful and the lakes/beaches are amazing. It is the Hawaii of Canada!

What makes this house unique

Enjoy the salt-water pool and hot tub, the beautiful view and peaceful surroundings. 2 of the bedrooms have ensuite bathrooms. Expansive decks and patios to enjoy the peace and tranquility. Beautiful landscaped front and back yard. The home is located in an upscale neighborhood.

Beautiful, super clean home away from home

  • 5 of 5

Our family had a wonderful family vacation on this property. There were 6 adults & 3 boys (1 aged 12 & two 10 year olds). There was more than enough room for all. We have rented many vacation homes over the years and this definitely was one of the cleanest. The boys had a great time in the pool even though the first 3 days were cloudy with rain. I would recommend this property to anyone.

Another great holiday at Juniper Drive

  • 5 of 5

Thanks for another great holiday this year. This was our third year at your home. We keep coming back because it feels a bit like our home now. We all enjoy the salt water pool, I am not sure who has more fun, the adults or the kids! It's very convenient for shopping and getting to anything in town. We can take the kids to the orchards in the morning and be back in the pool by the afternoon. The home itself feels warm and inviting and my wife and I love the master bedroom. (That bed is awesome by the way!) Evenings on the deck are perfect for our family dinners and the sunsets are inspiring.

I love to get up early and make coffee and sit outside on the deck and just look at the lake, it's a very zen like experience. The best thing is this house is that it feels like family; it just seems to let us all reconnect, to spend time together, to just enjoy each other. I am not sure what more you could ask from a vacation home.

Great Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful property and very accommodating owners. We had a great family vacation and it held our family of 7 and 2 toddlers very comfortably. we had intended on going out to restaurants for dinners but ended up cooking and having all our meals at the house as the place lends itself to cooking great meals and it's hard to leave the pool.

What would have made it perfect was if it was right on the lake but the view makes up for that.

Wonderful home for large group - be cautious of property "damage"

  • 2 of 5

We hosted our extended family here for a full week while my husband competed in the Challenge Iron Distance Triathlon. The home is beautiful, wonderfully maintained, and as represented in the photos, perhaps even more beautiful! The smart layout of the home allowed 10 of us (ranging in from ages 2-75!!) to orbit peacefully with plenty of space. I wish I could end the review right here....but the fact is that the ending interactions with the owner soured the experience that has continued to disappoint me to the point that I actually "sigh" when people ask how the stay turned out, and if we would rent the home again next year. The answer is no. In short, we were asked to pay for "extensive damage" to the underside of the hot tub cover that was a result of a sub par bracing system that was designed to move the cover on and off with ease. And though the bracket had been broken by previous guests, apparently our useage for one evening (it was promptly discovered by pool maintenance the next morning and fixed within 24 hours!!) required us to cover the cost of repair/replacement. To be clear, this was broken while being used by adults, not children as was originally thought. To add insult to injury we were also asked to pay to replace a toilet seat where a bolt had come free!! (I was later notified that this would be "fixed free of charge".) Rather than refuse to pay all together, I expressed our disappointment much as I have stated above, and the owner offered to "split the cost over the cover". Fine. We just wrote the check and moved on!! So, a word of caution....enjoy this beautiful home, but make sure you are prepared that wear and tear (toilet seats!) or faulty designs that result in costly property "damage" will be up to you to cover!! We have rented many properties in this, and higher, price range and have never, ever been made to feel as if we caused damage or mistreated property. Unfortunately, here we did. And for nominal cost for the repair, I wonder if it was worth it to the owners to have renters end the experience feeling this way.

Owner's Response: As the owner of this unit, I always welcome feedback from guests. However, I believe that these statements in this review are greatly exaggerated as demonstrated by my many 5 star reviews and favorable guest comments. We are 100% committed to ensuring that each stay is great. It seems though that the facts about the damage to the hot tub cover have been misrepresented in this review. Yes, the arm on the hot tub had been broken by a previous guest and had been repaired. The issue was that the hot tub arm broke again on the Friday and we were not notified until the yard/pool maintenance person let us know on Saturday and then on Sunday we went to fix it. Unfortunately by this time the hot tub cover had been scraped back and forth on the jagged edge multiple times causing tears on the underside of the cover. We felt strongly that a phone call on Friday would have resolved this issue promptly and without any scrapes to the hot tub cover. We are easy to work with under all circumstances but in this case we felt that the guests simply did not want to take responsibility for the property damage and the nominal cost to them. We apologize though as we want our guests to thoroughly enjoy their stay but we are happy that they loved everything else about the house and property.
