THIS HOUSE is located in a quiet forested location which is in a private low density community located 900 meters from Chestermans beach, and is very close to Rosy Bay, and Cox Bay. It's only a 7 minute drive to famous Long Beach. Tofino's town centre is 7 km from this property and there is a small(tiny) shopping centre 3 km away where you can get fast food(Wild Side Grill), surf rental and gear and a variety of other items.

The house sits on a 3/4 acre forested lot and has three bedrooms, 2.25 bathrooms and a open concept kitchen where cooking turkey diners is easy due to its size and completeness. Of course there is a dishwasher.

As required by municipal law there is a caretakers suite which is entirely separate from the main suite. The caretaker(the owner operator) is a quiet and friendly person who is usually not to far to help out with any question that may arise about the area or property. The hot tub is all yours if you stay here.

Laundry facilities are available for use and are shared with the caretaker which are in a separate location from both suits as well.

Please note that VRBO price quoting has some inaccuracies for our spring, fall and winter weekday rates. Generally summer and weekends and long weekends throughout the year are accurate. Spring fall and winter weekend rates are a flat rate based on 6 adults.

In the event that there is a discrepancy in a price quoted you will be informed before any transactions are performed on your credit card.

About Jason Mulder

I have live in Tofino for over 20 years. During this time I've explored many of the far corners of the area being an avid sport fisherman and outdoor enthusiast. These interests are what keep me here.

I have owned and operated a commercial diving company in the area for over 15 years.

Jason Mulder purchased this house in 2005

Why Jason Mulder chose Vancouver Island

It is a lifestyle that I grew up with having lived in a handful of different tourism locations while growing up. My folks owned and managed a recreation property on a lake with cabins. I always really liked it and I have great desire to be surrounded by water.

What makes this house unique

This house and property are located in a low density private community. It's close to South Chestermans Beach but also just a short distance to Cox Bay, and sits about 7km from town and Long Beach in the Pacific Rim National Park.

As a requirement of our municipal law, vacation homes must have a person who resides on the property. I live in a caretakers suite that is entirely separate from the main quarters so while I am quiet and friendly I am not to far away to assist you with questions you may have about the house or the area.

If privacy and peace is you cup-a-tea this is the place for you and your group.

Tranquil Accomodations

  • 4 of 5

This house was perfect! We were two families traveling with dogs, young kids and teens. The first impression when I walked in was that the house was clean and spacious. The layout for us was ideal as we were able to put all the kids upstairs and the adults took the two bedrooms off the kitchen and living room. The hot tub was private and a few steps from the house. It too was clean and so nice to come home to after a day of deep sea fishing. Jason (the host) who lives on the property was helpful and gave us our space to enjoy his property fully. The kitchen had most everything one would need to prepare meals, we would have brought foil and saran wrap although Jason leant gave us some when I knocked on his door. It's close enough to town and the beach. We ate at Howlers in Eukee and I would definitely recommend it if you have kids, they have an arcade and offer free bowling for the kids while you eat. The best babysitter ever! The highlight of our get away was a fishing charter with West Edge fishing and had the greatest day, seeing whales, and Jason (not the owner of tranquil accommodations) even took us to feed eagles which the kids loved! We are coming back to Vancouver with great memories, a cooler full of fish, and sunburned cheeks. I would definitely stay at Treanquil accomodations again.

I also sent the owner many emails prior to arriving and all of my questions and concerns were answered clearly and in a timely manner prior to our arrival.

As the name implies the spot was very tranquil with easy access to the beach.

We enjoyed our stay stay at 993 Jensens Bay Road, it was very secluded and peaceful.

The home was tastefully decorated and spacious. Unfortunately the toaster was broken and

there was not an adequate supply of glasses for 6 adults.

Owner's Response: I'm glad to offer a kitchen that is thoroughly equipped but occasionally some items go missing or stop working and for that we are very sorry. I invite my guests to contact me anytime during their stay if something is missing or not working so that such a situation can be corrected ASAP.

Just as advertised-tranquil

  • 5 of 5

Great place to stay. Plenty of room, well equipped and comfortable. One bedroom and bathroom upstairs and two bedrooms one bathroom downstairs worked well for us as two couples. It is just as advertised-tranquil! There are other houses around but it seems like you are all alone in the forest. The hot tub is secluded away from the house and lovely and warm. We had a very nice, relaxing short stay whilst travelling around and would recommend to others.

Lovely Location

  • 5 of 5

We were three couples 55+ and the house met everyone's needs. The house was very comfortable and clean. A great location and wonderful views from the windows, felt as though we were in the middle of a forest. We would recommend the house and when we are back in Tofino this would be our first choice.

Beautiful home away from home with an earlier than expected quiet hour

  • 4 of 5

This was a very clean and extremely beautiful property. We had booked this as a get away with 4 friends; a girl’s weekend. A few of us hadn't ever had a weekend away from our kids and husbands, so we had been looking forward to this for weeks. Some of us had travelled a distance just to spend the weekend in Tofino (Alberta and the Okanagan).

We really don't have any complaints on the property and house, as it had everything we needed and hoped for. The hot tub was in the woods and very private, the beds were really comfortable and the living room had a gas fireplace with comfy recliner sofas and chairs; nice to have after a long hike in the rain.

Our only disappointment was that quiet time seemed to be a little earlier than 11pm, and this was not mentioned at all on the website or any house rules. We also found that it was handled in an unprofessional manner. At 10:30pm we heard a loud bang on the wall twice and then on the front door. He had an aggressive, and argumentative demeanor and left us feeling like we had to walk on eggshells for the rest of our stay. In this trip we invested a lot with flights and accommodation and felt obligated to spend more time outside the rental because of the confrontation on our first night.

We kept the house clean and tidy and treated it as if it were our own. Our recommendation to the owner of Tranquil Accommodations is that customer service and hospitality needs a bit of work. I have worked in the tourism industry for over 7 years and have now worked in the hotel and restaurant/ hospitality industry for over 10 years. I believe this could have been handled in a calmer and more approachable manner. No hard feelings to the owner, as we did enjoy the property and rental. We will be making this trip a yearly event; unfortunately it will be in a different rental.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking a moment to provide a review. I appreciate the positive feed back and am committed to making improvements to my accommodation. It is unfortunate that anyone had to endure my attitude in response to what I felt was inappropriate noise from this group. In all honesty I became irritated after I could not get anyone’s attention in the suite after two attempts at knocking firmly on the door and was reduced to banging on the wall from my quarters to get the attention of any one in this group. This is still no excuse for my reactive behavior after that and I apologize for that and making you feel on edge. I was happy to hear this group still had a enjoyable weekend despite the mutually uncomfortable exchange we had on the first night. It is likely that this young woman’s long time reunion group, and Tranquil Accommodations, were not an ideal match and I do take full accountability for this. Alterations have been made to my rental agreement and description to make clear parameters pertaining to the types of gatherings and noise levels/times appropriate for this home and the surrounding community so that this does not happen again in the future.
