I'm an active duty Air Force pilot from Michigan, husband of a wonderful lady, and father of two smart boys who hopes to one day retire to our house in Harbor Springs. We enjoy our home away from 'home' when leave allows, and my family has a place of stability during the lengthy deployments.
Harbor Springs is a wonderful community in the truest sense of the word. The people are warm, genuine, and welcoming. There may not be a better place on earth to enjoy four distinct, varied, and beautiful seasons. The long, sunny summer days and natural air conditioning of Little Traverse Bay. The uncrowded, undeveloped sandy beaches. The smell of fudge. Fall colors that would leave a New England leaf-peeper breathless, and miles of empty roads and paths by which to enjoy them. Three months of real winter, complete with downtown sleigh rides, a great town sledding hill, a municipal ice rink, and the best skiing in the midwest. Watching the world wake in spring. Marvelling at the wildflower colors on display while out for a morning walk in one of Harbor's nature preserves, then passing through clouds of lilac on the walk back through town. Mackinac Island. The Little Traverse Wheelway bike path. Wilderness, Petoskey, and Burt Lake State Parks. Fishing the Bear River or Walloon Lake. Sailing Little Traverse Bay. Hiking the North Country Trail. Biking the Tunnel of Trees. Headlands dark sky park. Golfing some of the finest courses in the nation. The opportunities to enjoy the unspoiled outdoors are practically endless. This is the place I wish I'd spent my childhood, and I'm hoping to give that experience to my two young boys.
You won't find another property that combines the solitude and privacy of the North woods while offering such convenience of proximity to town and recreational opportunities. We love the feel of the wood stove in the winter. The house has such a warm feel, and lounging with a book under the skylight in the loft is so relaxing. I love to have my morning coffee on the upper balcony, listening to the songbirds and looking for wildlife in the woods. We particularly like that we can park the car and access nearly all of our favorite activities by bicycle.
My family and I fortunately arranged with Niki to stay here at the last moment before a ski trip. My daughters were amazed and enthralled with the beautiful home with many choices of nice bedrooms and lounging areas. Perfect for vacation.
It's obvious that you care. Cooking in the kitchen was very pleasant with high quality pots, pans, etc.
Close proximity to boyne and nub's nob made those trips a breeze. Even meijer was nearby for "emergency" cold medicines.
We'll definitely look into returning to enjoy your home.
Our family of 5 stayed 3 nights and found everything clean and comfy. Very close to Boyne Highlands and Nub's Nob for skiing. Newer appliances were a nice surprise and the kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. Keep the upstairs master bedroom and bathroom doors open at night or you will wake up cold since it's a post and beam construction with no heat ducts upstairs. We'll definitely book again next year.
What a welcoming home to walk into. Everything was exactly as stated it would be, door unlocked and keys right on counter. No hassle check in and peaceful stay. Our family had a fun and relaxing time while here, and wished for a longer stay. The only thing my daughter missed and a big reason for returning home was
because she missed our cat. Ha ha! We joked we should have a rent-a-cat
Service! Hope to stay here again as soon as we can get away. Thank you for the best home away from
Home we could ever have!
Stayed here for a ski weekend with my family. Everyone absolutely loved this place. My wife is very particular about where we stay when we travel, and the house passed all of the tests. Our family is all adults and there was more than enough room for all five of us. Everything was very clean, dealing with the owner was as easy as it gets. The whole experience was just really awesome.
Property was as promised. Everything we expected. Great location convenient to Petoskey or Harbor Springs. Thanks for everything we will surely be back.
This home is central to all the world-class activities that Harbor Springs has to offer. There are Lake Michigan beaches, Nubs Nob and Boyne Highlands Ski Hills (which offer both downhill and cross country skiing as well as mountain biking in the summer), lots of local hiking options, numerous golf courses, plenty of shopping, and the Mackinac Island ferries are a short drive away. In the winter Harbor Springs has a fantastic sledding hill as well as downtown sleigh rides and a free ice rink with rentals available. The breathtaking 'Tunnel of Trees' begins at the edge of town.
