House, 3 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 12-14)
A great place to relax and enjoy the best that lake life has to offer. This quaint 2-level home is located on a quiet slough, yet convenient to the main channel. A two level dock provides ample room to spread out and enjoy swimming, sunbathing, fishing, boating, canoeing.
The house is located in a small two cul-de-sac neighborhood with no thru traffic which makes a great setting for walks and biking.
The main living level includes a living area with stone fireplace, kitchen, two bedrooms, a full bath with dual vanities, and a rear deck with porch swings and pub table overlooking the dock and lake.
A spiral staircase leads to the lower level consisting of a den area, bar/fridge, game table, bedroom, bathroom, a nautical themed kid's bunk room with 6 bunks, a small dry sauna, and a rear patio with chaise lounge chairs.
The home offers many different areas (living areas, deck, patio, dock) for guests to congregate in smaller groups and enjoy varied activities
Tims Ford Lake is a beautiful deep water lake with many fingers extending in between the surrounding hills. With over 350 miles of shoreline, there are plenty of areas to explore and enjoy the beauty of the lake.
For boaters, the dock includes a lift and two jet-ski floats. Popular water sports include water skiing, tubing, and wake boarding.
If fishing is a priority for your group, Tim's Ford is well known as a great small-mouth bass and striped bass lake. Large mouth bass, crappie, and catfish are also plentiful and area marinas provide leads on local guides that can put you on the fish.
If you chose to explore the surrounding area, there are many destinations to chose from, including charming downtown Winchester with shops, restaurants, and The Old Jail Museum; Tims Ford State Park with Bear Trace golfing as well as hiking, biking; Jack Daniels Distillery and Ms Bobo's restaurant in nearby Lynchburg; the Blue Gill Grill at Holiday Marina; Granny Fish's Restaurant in Tullahoma; and endless other intriguing sights.

An engineer with a passion for the water and outdoors. I enjoy fishing, skiing, boating, hiking which makes Tims Ford a great destination.
Owner purchased this House in 1990
Why Owner chose Winchester
Tims Ford Lake is in a beautiful setting in an area of rich heritage and tradition. The easy commute from major regional population centers (Chattanooga, Huntsville, Nashville, Atlanta) was also a point of interest.
What makes this House unique
sipping coffee and feeding the fish on the dock at day-break; kayaking in the early morning calm; grilling out; great times and great memories with friends and family, ...................

It was everything it advertised to be
The door was easy to access with the code provided. It had all the amenities of two bathrooms, lake access, etc that it advertised. Two down sides that would prevent me from renting again. The kitchen is small, the electric stove cooks uneven and offers two burners and the refrigerator is stocked with owners items so hard to utilize. The second was the path to lake is not well lit, some stones are loose or uneven. Just seemed to be suitable for a younger crowd that wanted to live on the lake and not cook much We were happy with our stay but will look for a different location next time as we want more people to attend and want entertainment for a variety of ages But the cabin has pictures and it was as clean as well as plenty of space
Easy and fun
My family and I stayed at Tennessee Tahoe for a long weekend. We had not been to Tim's Ford previously. We are an outdoors family that loves to canoe, kayak and fish. The cabin is very rustic and makes you feel like you are farther off the beaten path than you really are. There was plenty of room and beds for the five of us. Two grills (gas and charcoal) and a smoker make any outdoor cooking convenient. We brought our canoe and used the paddle boat and never left the cove in which the cabin is located. We caught catfish, carp, and panfish of all kinds consistently. Very little boat traffic traveled the cove.
The top deck of the dock was comfortable for laying out. Lots of chairs and a table. If you bring your own water toys, they are easy to launch from a railroad tie ramp located next to the dock, but be sure you have a way to get them back up the hill. There is a really good switch back path up and down the hill (in addition to the stairs) for doing that.
The view from the porch swing on the upstairs deck of the house is very peaceful. The game room downstairs was perfect for the kids. They stayed down there and played chess/checkers when we were not on the lake. The kitchen is well appointed. We had a wonderful time and would go back.
Lovely cozy charming getaway!
We had trouble finding the driveway in the dark, though the number on the mailbox is well marked. It is an old gravel drive ( in fine shape, just hard to see) and the dark wood sided home sits back in the trees. The home makes good use of its cozy square footage and the decor is nice, with the basement area (bunk room, bedroom, living room, bathroom, kitchenette & sauna) standing out with recent updating (very cute!)
There is a long, steep walk down to the dock, but it has nice stepping stones & some railings so it never felt unsafe. The neighbors are close with similar back yards & docks but the cove still managed to feel private & quiet, as there weren't too many people around.
We appreciated having a table that we could all gather round (8) even though the dining table set is for 6, to eat meals & play games together. The paddle boat was a peaceful & fun addition to our lake stay! The back deck made a nice spot for a quiet moment as did the lounge chairs on the lower porch... plenty of places like this where a few could have time & space together not with "everyone". The owner was accessible as we needed him. We walked & ran in the nice neighborhood- also quiet, civilized & peaceful. Bikes would work here. We had an intermittent issue of the burners not heating up when turning them on, but each time we found a way to do what was needed without much trouble. We enjoyed grilling our steaks with the charcoal grill, too. It is nice that there are several types of grills to choose from. Our family was happy with our stay here and we thank you.
Family get together
I was really looking forward our gathering of son and his family with 4 boys. I was hoping they would enjoy swimming and water activities. I inquired if he provided access to.a canoe or kayak and the answer was yes.. Having previous stayed at lake places that provided life jackets for guests I assumed here to. Nope, and the only water activities was a paddle boat and no life jackets. And the grandsons would not go in the green water and it was still early June. We went swimming at the state park. It has a fantastic pool with diving boards.
Wifi access took a day to fix. The tv very basic channels, not even CNN. One stove burner did not work for cooking. There were 3 globes for ceiling lights and each was full of bugs. For cleanup we were to put garbage in one of 4 garbage cans by owner boats but all were full so we had to haul it away. Fortunately we had extra trash bags because the unit did not more than the one in the kitchen trash can.
The bathrooms did not provide bath soap or shampoos. My previous stays in VRBO did.
We did have a great family get together despite the short comings. Only use this unit for water activities if you bring your own watercraft.
We had really nice weekend! Owner very nice and easy to work with!
Weather was somewhat disappointing, but when your with family and friends that's nothing!! Enjoyed the weekend!! Owner nice and great to work with!
Paulette, thank you for the positive review! If I had better control of the weather, I would have hoped you would have had a 5 Star stay. Thanks again for choosing the Tennessee Tahoe. I hope you come back again.
overall was a nice place
pros: Was pretty private location, and lots of room
cons: nice tv but only two channels, outside was covered in cobwebs everywhere you walked
Thanks for your review. My apologies that the cable service went out during your stay, and I am glad we were able to get the service restored the same day. We will also be sure to have our cleaning crew pay particular attention to exterior cobwebs going forward.
Thanks again for the review and for choosing the Tennessee Tahoe.
