About Nancy Russell

My husband and I have lived in 6 different countries over the past 22 years and are looking forward to eventually making Gaucin a semi-permanent home.

Nancy Russell purchased this house in 2010

Why Nancy Russell chose Ronda area

While being posted to Madrid for four years, we fell in love with Andalucia and dreamed of eventually retiring to Southern Spain. We discovered Gaucin and immediately knew that it has everything we were looking for: stunning views, peace and quiet, lovely white village, friendly people, artsy expat community, gourmet dining, access to beaches, golf, horseback riding, hiking, fishing, and a perfect base for exploring Andalucia. We are pleased to offer our home as a vacation rental until we're ready to retire.

What makes this house unique

This country house has a lovely, peaceful location. You have beautiful views of Gaucin, but no one can view you! It's a wonderfully quiet and restful spot -- no traffic noise, just occasional goat bells or the bay of a mule. Also the top of the property has panoramic views towards Gibraltar and the Rif mountains (see photo!).

Guestbook comments from the owner

5 Stars!

Quiet, peaceful, beautiful, contemplative and genuinely Spanish. This area is unspoiled and is an ideal place to live for a week in Andalusia. There are short trips, long walks, road trips, hikes….the area is pregnant with possibilities. Or just hang around the house, which is a joy in of itself. The mountains, vistas, weather, and village has such visual grandeur, and is so striking, that I felt there needed to be a famous artist doing a landscape painting at all times just to do it justice. I never felt so keenly the inadequacy of a camera. If there was a Spanish version of the Hudson River school of painting, the artists would paint from this area of Gaucin. I will go again.

Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, age 55+.

Lovely and well situated Country House

  • 4 of 5

We had a great time at Rosa Alta. It felt as if the Counry House, gardens, swimming pool etc were built with great care. The view was beautiful, the nature just great in Spring and the weather was nice. The silence and privacy we really liked. Rosa Alta is not a ' spic and span' new house , but it' s a house with a soul.

Peaceful stay in rural Andalucia.

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely secluded yet comfortable house in the Andalusian countryside. Stunning view over the beautiful valley and nearby Gaucin. Peaceful and quiet, just the sound of the sheep passing by. With 40+ degree temperatures, the nice pool and airco in the bedrooms were a real bonus. In short: a home away from home. Plenty to see and do in the vicinity. Or you can just relax and let the days go by in this peaceful place. Friendly cleaning staff. All facilities were present. Some really nice restaurants nearby. We'll be back!

An idyllic week at Rosa Alta

  • 5 of 5

My vacation in Gaucin at Rosa Alta was one of the most special times I have had while traveling. Rosa Alta offers a rustic setting overlooking the town of Gaucin, yet the property has so many wonderful amenities ... a spectacular swimming pool, and outside patio and eating area as well as a rooftop deck to enjoy the summer evenings. The inside quarters are quaint, with lots of room to house a family.

The property is immaculately maintained, and the owners provided lots of information about local attractions so we felt like locals when we were exploring.

Gaucin is a quaint village with welcoming residents ... and phenomenal restaurants. I can't wait to return!

SUPERB in every way

  • 5 of 5

This was one of the best accomodation/venue holidays we have ever had. Everything about the overall experience was faultless.

The villa has everything you could need, the location has spectacular views, and the village of Gaucin (a mile away) is a delight. The tranquility of the surroundings, the facilities in the Villa meant that you can enjoy a variety of activities from sunbathing/swimming, to energetic walking; from spectacular sightseeing to eating in the many local tapas bars, all of which were excellent. Further afield rural Spain offers many hidden gems.

This Villa is recommended to anyone wanting to experience these delights.

A beautiful house in a stunning location - perfect

  • 5 of 5

The house is simply amazing if you're looking to get away from it for a while. It has been beautifully furnished, both inside and out. In fact, the outside space is amazing with views down over the valley as well as up to the town. You're not overlooked in any way so you can really get away from it for a while. Highly recommended - we'll definitely be back!
