Mike is a master licensed boat captain and advanced diver that is knowledgeable about the area. "Our goal & wishes at Salty Living Island Rentals is that you have what you need and sincerely enjoy your stay... When you leave take mostly good memories, a few sand dollars, and many dreams of returning…"
Mike purchased this villa in 2012
Capt. Mike, owner of Salty Living Island Rentals & Property Services, LLC. (SLRPS) Purchased this 2 story / 4-plex located right in the center of beautiful Bradenton Beach because of its location and proximity to the Beach, City Park, and the Bay. The property has plenty of room with 5 on site parking spaces (for 4 villas), two assigned parking spaces for the upstairs villa, one accessible from the front (west) & / or one from the rear (east, separate entrance) of the building. Addition public parking is on the East side of the building a short 1/2 block away for weddings or day time visitors.
When you stay here you can park your car and forget it (recommended). Everything you need is right here within walking distance or a short free Trolley ride away. The sand dollar white beach has natural wading pools just past the surf. Sometimes there is no surf at all, which is popular with relaxation seeking rafters. Wave runners, sail boats, kayaks, beach scuba (ask me), and other water craft rentals are a short walk down the beach. Just let Capt. Mike know what type of water sport or leisure activity you wish for before or during your stay and he'll be happy to point you in the right direction…
Wedding parties can walk from this location to the Beach House restaurant (across the street) or the Gulf Drive cafe (across the street & just north on the beach) for all wedding arrangements...
This is a very well-appointed rental with beautiful views. However, it is at a very busy/noisy intersection so while the beach looks beautiful from the deck you cannot have a conversation with the person sitting next to you without having to yell or repeat yourself.
The AC broke early in our stay. I was trying to work from home so this was a major inconvenience. While this is "vacation rental by owner" you will be dealing with a rental agent at a local real estate company. She was nice but condescending about the AC problem, not believing that it was broken. She said to set it to 76 so it "reset" and we spent a very hot night waiting for a repair. The following day the repairman said it needed a motor and the 76 reset thing was false. Also I contacted the owner via VRBO in-mail about the AC issue and he said it was a new unit and asked for our patience. The repair person said the unit is 5 years old. This ordeal took almost a full 24 hours to be resolved, but we were not offered a rebate for one night. Also the following night the rental agent told me to set the AC to 73 and "use blankets" if we had to to let it run. So we went from too hot to too cold.
Once the AC was fixed and running, it was more or less able to keep up with the direct afternoon sun. The views were nice but this apartment is probably very hot in the summertime. Also there is a lot of street noise. There are a lot of rentals on the island to choose from, and I suspect there are others in this price range that are quieter and have reliable climate control.
I arrive 10/26 on a last minute vacation with no place to stay. I was a little concerned booking something I had not seen but all the positive reviews you read about these villa's are exactly what you get, any negative reviews, well some people are never happy. I contacted Mike that morning and he was able to set me up with a single villa that came with everything you would need for your stay. A fully equipped kitchen with everything you would need to cook and bake with. I had nothing for the beach but Mike did! Beach chairs, umbrella, cooler, beach towels and even a beach cart to carry it on. I walked into the villa and it smelled clean and was very updated. The bed and sheets were soft and comfortable and the entire place was clean and never saw one bug the entire stay. The villa's are about the middle of Gulf drive and puts you within walking distance of everything. I will definitely return to Mikes villa's in the future, they had a relaxing home feel to them and I would recommend them to anyone. Thanks for taking such good care of me last minute Mike and getting me in my room so quickly your the best!
We stayed at this location and found it to be very clean and up to date with all amenities. It was perfect for 4 people! It was decorated very nice. We enjoyed being able to look at the ocean on our balcony across the street! The weather did not cooperate with us but we were still able to make it fun vacation. We were able to walk to nearby restaurants and walk on the beach daily. The street was pretty busy but a traffic light was close and was able to access the beach. Enjoyed outside area, had plenty of chairs and tables to relax and enjoy each others company. Thank you Mike!
Property listing was accurate. The place was meticulously clean. Everything worked. WiFi bandwidth was excellent at 20mb. Beach House restaurant across the street was superb. Bridge Street shopping an easy walk.
Had a great time in this 2br/2ba villa! I would totally recommend Salty Living! Mike, the owner was at the villa when we arrived making sure we didn't need anything. My husband and I were traveling with my brother and sister-in-law from Minnesota and Wisconsin. Wow...did we get lucky with the weather!!!! 75-85° every day.
The villa itself was very clean and comfortable. There are 2 other units downstairs that were occupied and we didn't hear a peep out of them. The TV remotes might drive everyone a little crazy, like they did us, but we called Mike and we talked us through it. Like I said, Mike was there if we needed anything. Since my sister-in-law was pregnant, we offered her and my brother the master bedroom with attached bathroom. My husband and I got the second bedroom. I will say one thing about that.....even though the bed was a Murphy bed, it was quite comfortable but since our window faced the busy road in front of the villa, sleep was hard to come by the first night. All I had to do was...yep, you guessed it, I called Mike. He delivered an amazing fan that drowned out the street noise. The week was full of beach time, deep sea fishing, bike riding and eating and shopping. You will love the FREE Trolley that goes up and down the island. Very convenient. I totally recommend taking the trolley to the very north end of the island to Bean Point! Amazing Beach. As far as recommending a restaurant...the Beach House across the street was amazing. And what ever you do....do NOT forget to go to the Rod and Reel Pier! GREAT FOOD AND ATMOSPHERE!
Stayed in Villa A. It really is worth 5 stars but being across the street (fairly busy one) I took off one. Very nice and more than enough room. There is absolutely nothing you need (other than food) as Mike has provided everything--even things you didn't know you'd need. The best item is the beach buggy to haul all the chairs etc.(that are also provided) it made it so easy to haul everything back and forth. Huge wrap around deck with tons of chairs is a huge plus. Patio with BBQ grill that we used three nights. Tons of beach and bathroom towels. Very good location for walking to shops and restaurants.
Quiet City park with additional grill / picnic table and newer play ground (1/2 block east).
Boat / wave runner rentals & parasailing are 1 block east at the marina.
Beach wave runners, Hobie cats, paddle boards & kayaks are a short beach walk & scuba (ask me).
Breakfast cafe's (several)
Circle-K (a short block)
Historic Bridge Street includes shopping, restaurants, ice cream polars, spa, golf cart, bike, & scooter rentals (ask me), events here include occasional markets, art show, sand castle competition, etc.,
Historic City Pier with fishing, bait shop, and many more activities.
The FREE Trolley pick-up (covers all of AMI), and all within walking distance...
Beach House restaurant (across the street): Wedding planners & fine seafood
Publix & Walgreens are about a mile away (the free Trolley stops there). Walmart is in Bradenton (about 2 miles after the bridge and the mcat stops there).
