Semi-rural location, short drive from beach, bars and restaurants of El Palmar

Set on the edge of the village, this charming cottage invites guests to unwind and relax in the pretty terraced gardens with its vine-covered terrace and generously sized pool. In the evenings, nearby Vejer’s cosmopolitan atmosphere and large choice of Spanish, French, Italian and Moroccan restaurants may tempt you, although closer to home, Santa Lucia’s excellent La Tajea or Castilleria serve some of the best cuisine in the area. It’s hard to tear yourself away from this relaxing spot but with the golden sandy uncrowded beaches of this unsophisticated coastline, the many interesting historic cities and whitewashed villages all within a short drive, there is plenty to explore! There is a master double bedroom with en suite bathroom and a twin bedrooms with adjacent full bathroom along with the open plan living-dining-kitchen area. Due to the many terraces this house is not suited to toddlers or very young children, nor is it really ideal for the less mobile. In July and August, we can also make available (on request), for a 5th person, a granny flat on the middle terrace with it's own en suite shower room. This bedroom has a normal double bed but very limited storage space for clothes so suitable for maybe a teenager or au pair. Supplement of 100euros per week for this extra facility.

About Gary Biston

Gary Biston has over 30 years experience working in the travel and hospitality industry. Gary originally qualified as a chef, before moving into hotel management and the travel industry - working in Austria, France, Greece, Morocco, Colombia, Spain and her islands. Having worked in a variety of positions, in many European countries and Latin America, for both mass market and specialist operators - Gary has a well rounded background and understands the varying needs of his clients. It comes natural to him to try that little more, to offer better than the rest – a philosophy which became second nature whilst working for up-market companies like Lotus Supertravel Ski and Simply Travel. Whilst still living in London he was a founding Director of Simpson Travel and was instrumental in hand picking their portfolio of properties for their programme of distinctive villas and charming hotels in Andalucía, Mallorca and Morocco.

In 2004 he moved permanently to Andalucía where a month later his daughter Lily-Ana was born in Málaga. In 2006 his son, Oliver-Tomás, was born in Jerez and where his youngest daughter Sofia-Rose was also born in 2010; they live permanently in Medina Sidonia where the bilingual children are at the local schools. Having established his family in western Andalucía – leisure days are spent enjoying the endless beaches, the cultural treasures of the cities, the rural splendour of the national parks under blue skies and warm sunshine. He is fully aware that to maintain a positive future in Spain depends on loyal clients enjoying a wonderful holiday and wanting to return or better still recommending Andalucía Hideaways to all their friends and family.

From Tarifa, the Costa de la Luz runs like a golden ribbon westwards to Cádiz and beyond to the border with Portugal. The Spanish themselves favour this Atlantic shore, long stretches of dunes, anchored by pine and eucalyptus trees. Here, you can indulge yourself – you haven’t lived until you’ve feasted on Sanlucar de Barrameda’s giant prawns or the fresh tuna from Conil. Go ‘on safari’ in the Doñana National Park’s bush land, a twitchers’ paradise where black kites swoop and white spoonbills from Africa come to breed each year. Or head inland, past the giant silhouettes of Osborne’s bull and Sandeman’s señor which flag up the sherry vineyards and the bodegas of Jerez itself. One of the jewels of this coast is the small fortress town of Vejer de la Frontera, a dazzle of sugar-cube houses high on a ridge. A day can easily slip by as you admire balconies and patios and intricate window grilles – or enjoy tapas accompanied by a glass of chilled Manzanilla in one of its friendly bars.

Both bedrooms have air conditioning and ceiling fans along with heating for the cooler months. Both the bedrooms in the main house have excellent storage space for clothes. There is a third bedroom with double ded with very small en suite shower room. This is a separate building, accessed externally and suitable for an older teenager, nanny or grandparent. Very limited storage space in this third bedroom.

Muy tranquil

Located near the beautiful "pueblo blanco" of Vejer de la Frontera with its many restaurants, this is a quiet location in the village of Santa Lucia which itself has three super restaurants within walking distance of the villa. It was lovely to wake up to birds singing in the morning. A super location with easy access to nearby towns of Medina Sidonia, Barbate, Chiclana, Conil, Jerez, and Tarife. The front and back terraces of the villa offer places to sit or lie down in sun or shade. Wish it had been warm enough to use the pool while there, but it was lovely to look at. Fantastic views of Vejer from the house and on a clear day one can almost see Morocco from the back terrace. Kitchen is well equipped and the villa has dishwasher, washing machine, and television. There is private parking for one car in front of the house which is a plus as the road into Santa Lucia is narrow. Good walking trails nearby. The owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful. We didn't want to leave and are looking forward to returning! Highly recommended.

A great place to relax!

What a wonderful place, very peaceful and hidden away, yet so close to beautiful places to eat and visit. The villa is furnished to a very high standard and the pool is fantastic. Our two young children loved the 2 terraces and the pool. The owner was very friendly, and helped settle us in well. Highly recommended!

lovely villa and fantastic views

The villa was finished and equipped to a very high standard, the views from the terraces were stunning, the tranquil and quiet location made it really relaxing holiday. The local restaurants were only walking distance away but did not speak hardly any English. The only slight downside which did not really effect us was that the only English channel you could get was sky news. there was plenty of places to sit or lie down in either in the sun or shade. The steps were quite steep to the terraces and it would not be suitable for young children or the elderly

Idylle im Grünen

Das Haus liegt sehr schön mit Blick ins Grüne. Die Zimmer sind gemütlich und die Küche sehr vollständig eingerichtet. Gary der Vermieter war über e-mail jederzeit gut zu erreichen und hat uns für Notfälle auch seine Telefonnummer angegegeben. Der Pool ist groß, so dass man tatsächlich gut darin schwimmen kann. An und für sich sind auch die drei Terassen ein Traum. Leider war es bei unserem Aufenthalt allerdings so windig, dass wir sie nicht nutzen konnten.
