Born in Alabama, raised in Oklahoma and was living in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Though there are many beautiful areas, we always come back to Maggie Valley.
Jim Kerner purchased this cabin in 2003
High enough to have spectacular views, but easy access. Right in the middle of everything we and our guests may want to do.
We have it all! Convenient to all the points of interest, yet secluded and quiet. You will love the sight of red crested wood peckers, the sound of owls, and groups of wild turkeys that enjoy wondering through. That first cup of coffee on the east side of the deck, watching as the sun comes up across the Blue Ridge Parkway.
We have had the most amazing vacation here! Your cabin is the coziest home away from home ever. It is in the perfect spot for the best views, not too close to anyone else, so you feel along in the mountains. It is so relaxing with the furnace and gas fireplace to keep you warm but big glass doors and windows to enjoy the view without freezing. Thank you so much for opening your home to us, we are truly appreciative and would like to make this a yearly venture. We had such a wonderful time.
Jim does a great job of having everything organized and ready for your arrival. We look forward to a return visit and want to hear about his new project. Ted
Fantastic property - really well presented, extremely clean and very well looked after. Location is fantastic, with some truly wonderful views.
I want to go back!
We settled in immediately to this quant and secluded cabin in the woods. We took advantage of grilling some salmon steaks on the grill with asparagus and opened a bottle of good wine and settled in to a fantastic weekend. We took advantage of late nights in in the hot tub looking up at the crystal clear panoply of stars since the lights of Waynesville were not close enough to occlude the clearness of the sky. Reading in the living room with the gas fireplace or napping on the couch set the pace for relaxing afternoons. Took a hike at very close Soho Falls one afternoon as one of our day excursions. Ate at Frankie's, a nice little Italian restaurant in Maggie Valley one evening, but ate in for most of our meals.
The cabin was set up nicely and it is homey, cute, quiet, and warm. Views were beautiful. Hot tub on the. back deck supplied beautiful views of the valley but since we visited in the winter, the foliage from the trees didn't provide as much screening from the only near neighbor as we would have liked. Jim mentioned that he would address that winter phenomenon and normally that the trees provide adequate screening. We positioned the hot tub cover against the deck rail when using the tub and it solved the problem adequately.
Great weekend, cozy cabin, very great value for a get away. Thanks Jim.
We enjoyed our time at Thunderstruck Cabin. Great location for getting out and enjoying the mountains. Our host was exceptional. Jim will go out of his way to make sure your stay is memorable even if it means helping you retrieve a broken down ATV. We will be back.
Although we didn't have the best weather during our stay, we still managed to have a great time at the cabin. The cabin is very quiet and cozy and it was nice just to relax in front of the wood burning stove/fireplace . Our dog loved it as well, as she got to explore the woods surrounding the property and made friends with the owner's two dogs.
