About Jim Kerner

Born in Alabama, raised in Oklahoma and was living in New Smyrna Beach, FL. Though there are many beautiful areas, we always come back to Maggie Valley.

Jim Kerner purchased this cabin in 2003

Why Jim Kerner chose Maggie Valley

High enough to have spectacular views, but easy access. Right in the middle of everything we and our guests may want to do.

What makes this cabin unique

We have it all! Convenient to all the points of interest, yet secluded and quiet. You will love the sight of red crested wood peckers, the sound of owls, and groups of wild turkeys that enjoy wondering through. That first cup of coffee on the east side of the deck, watching as the sun comes up across the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Guestbook comments from the manager

We have had the most amazing vacation here! Your cabin is the coziest home away from home ever. It is in the perfect spot for the best views, not too close to anyone else, so you feel along in the mountains. It is so relaxing with the furnace and gas fireplace to keep you warm but big glass doors and windows to enjoy the view without freezing. Thank you so much for opening your home to us, we are truly appreciative and would like to make this a yearly venture. We had such a wonderful time.

We stayed at this cabin from 10/1-10/4 2016. This was a very well kept and clean cabin. It had all the amenities necessary to enjoy our vacation., including Wi-Fi and Direct TV. Jim thought of everything! The views can't be beat, on one side a view of the Blue Ridge parkway to watch the sun rise. On the other side a view of mountains to watch the sun set while sitting in a warm hot tub. We enjoyed the quietness and watching the chipmunks and birds greet us on the wrap around deck. I never wanted to leave! We brought our F250 and a trailer, which caused a concern with turning around , however there was plenty of room to maneuver at the end of the road (4-wheel drive recommended). Would not recommend for motorcycles. Will definitely stay at this cabin again in the future!

Amazing cabin with spectacular views!

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful cabin. Well furnished with everything you would need. Just like home. The evening views from the hot tub will take your breath away. Great for pets with a small fenced yard and with gates on the deck so they can be outside without worry. So very pleased with our decision to stay here. Wish I were there now! Hope to return again next year to get a break from the Florida heat!

Clean, cozy, secluded. Absolutely beautiful home with heavenly views.

  • 5 of 5

arrived late night due to inclement weather and the owner was awake and available to help us find the way! We walked in to a precious log cabin and the most comfortable bed I've slept in in a very long time. House was well stocked with everything we needed. Wrap around deck facing the mountains greeted us the next morning. Nice clean hot tub too. The grounds had the most beautiful hostas I've ever seen AND I picked wild blackberries to eat with cream and sugar. Would most definitely stay here again!

Great cabin!

  • 5 of 5

Great cabin, especially if you have pets. We especially liked the fenced back yard and the gates on the deck. Our dogs loved the cabin and the surrounding area. The cabin itself was one of the best well stocked rental houses I've stayed in. We wanted to steam vegetables one night and we could not believe that we found a steamer. Great place! Stay here! You won't be disappointed.

Perfect weather, quiet and secluded

  • 4 of 5

The cabin was very nice, clean and well stocked with cookware and linens. Outdoor area was outstanding and birds were so much fun to watch. We would have given the stay a five star rating, however, we had no cell phone service at the cabin and no land line. Our cell phone provider is AT&T. Perhaps other providers are available in the area. With no cell phone service and no land line, we considered this a safety way to contact 911 if the need arose. We would definitely go back to this cabin if a land line was installed.

Owner's Response: Verizon works excellent at this cabin. Sorry you had AT & T. No plans to spend extra each month on a land line.
