About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Welcome to this updated Cape Cod style home! Not your grandma's beach house, our home is situated on a quiet, sandy cul-de-sac. Located a half mile from the bike path, this spacious four bedroom home, ideally nestled between the bay and the ocean and just a short bike ride from several area ponds, is perfect for you and all your family members -- including your four-legged friends (only-well behaved dogs over 25 pounds, please!).

Featuring hard wood floors throughout, this house has a great layout with plenty of room for family bonding while also having plenty of space for quiet time, too. Whether you're enjoying a cup of freshly ground coffee in the sun room in the early morning, strolling along the scenic nearby trails of Fort Hill, or biking or rollerblading along the nearby Cape Cod Rail Trail, this house is the perfect spot to create those happy family memories!

Decorated in a fresh, contemporary manner, every room is evocative of the beach without the typical kitschy clutter. The first floor features a large living room (with flat screen smart TV featuring WI-FI connectivity) that opens to the sunny dining room, with a table large enough for everyone to sit comfortably. Two comfortable bedrooms are located on the first floor -- each with plenty of room. The front bedroom includes two twin beds while the back bedroom, located next to the downstairs bathroom, features a queen-sized bed.

Upstairs you'll find the second bathroom and two bedrooms, both of which are bright and spacious. The master bedroom showcases a king-sized bed, and the other bedroom, geared towards children, has plenty of room for two twins AND a full-sized bed.

Other features include a sunroom (the perfect spot to enjoy your coffee in the early morning or a glass of wine late in the evening), an outside shower with hot and cold water, window air-conditioning units in the bedrooms, and a pool table in the basement. To complete the picture, we also have a spacious backyard complete with ouside table and chairs--a great place for your family to hang out with Fido while dinner is cooking on the Weber gas grill.

Sunlight abounds in this cheerful house, so even if it's grey or raining outside, you will be comfortable and cozy in this happy house.

A bright and cheery cottage in the woods.

  • 4 of 5

This is quaint little cottage in the woods. The owners have taken a lot of time to brighten the home with white shiplap and cheery paint. The rooms are all decorated in a cute manner that left for a very calming and sweet feel. However, due to the woods there were a few creepy crawlers around the home. But maybe that is just The Cape living and to be expected? There is one TV in the home in the main frontroom and adding a few movie channels, a blueray player, and a TV in the master would be nice additions in the future but adequate for a small family. They have added air conditioning units to all the rooms and we are sure this really helps on muggy days. It is very peaceful and quite in the neighborhood and we enjoyed being outside in the yard hanging out, as well. The kitchen holds all the supplies we needed for any home cooked meals. We do feel there could be additional TP and paper towels for the week, esp for larger families. The only real drawback for us was the amount of chores expected before we left. There was a very lenghty list that we had to do before checkout, which took 3 of us literally 2 hours. With a checkout time of 10am it was quite a challenge to get everything accomplished from the list, only to have a cleaning crew of 4 arrive with the main person giving instruction to the workers to "clean everything". We were all quite tired, frustrated and confused and wished for better communication by the owners re: light clean vs deep. It was a cool week with rainy days, perhaps unexpected on the Cape at the end of July so we relaxed in the home more than expected. Did enjoy that there was a Sunday to Sunday checkin/checkout option. We do think that with a few tweaks we would return in the future, as they seem to be always working hard to renovate and upgrade this cute cottage. We did enjoy our stay and are grateful they shared their lovely home with us.

Great Family Vacation!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time here and the location is perfect! We brought 4 children, 2 grandmothers and a dog, and I can't say enough for the accommodations. The bedrooms were very spacious and the Cape Cod decor was perfect. There were many conveniences in the kitchen as well as in the basement (beach chairs, umbrella, kids beach toys, beach cart, etc). The neighborhood was also a plus...very quiet and great for riding bikes or jogging. (First Encounter beach can be accessed via backroads so you don't have to pull out onto Rte 6 East, which can be challenging.)

The yard was very large and greatly appreciated by all, especially the dog. We had a couple friends over for a lobster/steak night and we had everything we needed. Christine was very helpful and accomodating. She called when we checked in to make sure everything was ok. We would definitely rent there again...thanks Christine! (Both grandmothers were very impressed as well, and the kids made us promise to book again next year!)

Summer of 2014

Last day of a ten week stay and a moment to reflect on the wonderful time spent here. To begin, the property is immaculate, tasteful, and most welcoming for guests. Kitchen is fully equipped with the best of tools for the best of chefs. Lawn, surroundings, and neighbors make the property the most welcoming for all comers. We have totally enjoyed the nearness to restaurants and things to do, but have not needed to deal with the seasonal traffic that the cape can offer. The location of the property is such a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world, and yet only minutes away from autos and a fast pace society should you have a yearning for city engagement. Needless to say, Cindy and I along with our King Charles Cavalier (Jimmy Fallon) have enjoyed the whole experience immensely. Cindy and I wish you both a wonderful journey with the newly born girls and hope that someday you will be able to enjoy the pleasures of your home like so many people have.

Spacious Cape in a Wonderful Setting

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful week in this home. The pictures don't do it justice, it is very roomy. The dining room and living room are very spacious. The kitchen has everything you could ever need and service for more than eight which was really helpful. The kingsize bed in the upstairs, huge, bedroom was extremely comfortable, we didn't miss a wink of sleep (and there were plenty of hangers too). The home had many supplies (paper towels, dish soap, laundry detergent, softener, toilet paper, etc) they just asked you to replenish them if you used them up. The outdoor setting is so pretty with touches of color around and plenty of shade and breezes. We enjoyed the horseshoe pits as well and the outdoor table and umbrella were nice for dining outside. There is a great barbecue outdoors and an enclosed shower which is helpful after a day at the beach. Beaches, both ocean and bay are a short drive away. No dogs are allowed on the beaches during the summer months which was a disappointment... but no fault of the homeowner. They also are planning more updates which is nice, you can see the care they have for their rental. The owners communicated well and were pleasant to work with. Would definitely rent here again.

Adorable house, wonderful owner

  • 5 of 5

We spent two wonderful weeks at this Eastham property! Christine was a joy to deal with throughout the entire process and I never wondered about the legitimacy of the rental. She was extremely forthcoming, left welcome flowers and coffee and even arranged delivery of propane gas tank for the grill after realizing it was empty. She also promptly returned our deposit check.

The house was very clean and superbly equipped with everything from state of the art TV, to lobster pot, to a nice set of kitchen knives. We brought our dog's own bed, but she appreciated use of the one in the basement, which we put in the living room. Our daughter loved the large upstairs bedroom, which got pretty warm so she had to use the a/c. Thankfully there was one! Needless to say, our dog enjoyed the large yard. All in all, it was a wonderful stay and the only thing I can recommend is maybe stringing up a hammock somewhere outside. Thank you, Christine!

Peaceful retreat

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely home. It was very quiet and peaceful, yet just a few minutes drive to seaside and bay-side beaches and the town of Orleans - but nothing is in walking distance. The home was spotless and very comfortable and it was great to have the bikes and beach chairs available.
