Fantastic vacation!

  • 5 of 5

This was our first time to the Outer Banks and we cannot adequately express how happy we were with Tina Tuna and our vacation in Nags Head. We were thrilled to find a place on the ocean that allowed us to bring our dogs. David and Anne are wonderful people and were such a pleasure to work with and get to know. Luckily we have a tight-knit family because Tina Tuna is cozy and there are 5 of us. But it is also clean and well kept, and had everything we needed. The central air was a life saver as it was in the mid 90's the entire week we were there. The location was ideal for our three kids (two teens and a pre-teen) to easily access the beach whenever they wanted. All we had to do was walk out the door and over the sand dune and we were on the beach. My husband and I were able to go out each morning to have our coffee and enjoy the sunrise, and then take the dogs on the beach for a walk, swim, or to chase the crabs (which was a favorite activity)! If we have one complaint, it's that there is only one outdoor shower that everyone fought over! "I call the outdoor shower first!" :)

Having brought our 4 dogs, it was also convenient being next to the public access beach parking lot since it had a nice grassy area where we could take the dogs to do their business. There's even a public poop bag dispenser on the way to the grass if you forget to bring one. There is a sand dune between the cottages and the parking area so you still have your privacy at the cottage. One warning- there are some small cactus plants and sand spurs in the grass that you should look out for when you have your dogs out and about.

Our family also loved the central location of Nags Head as there was much to do and see. We would highly recommend Fish Heads Bar & Grill for dinner on the deck with live music and Mama Kwan's for delicious fish tacos. Austin Fish Co. was our go to for local seafood, which we cooked 5 out of the 7 nights we were there. While they weren't the friendliest people, their selection of seafood was good. Jockey's Ridge State Park was so cool (figuratively speaking) but go when it opens before the sand is too hot to walk on.

We would absolutely recommend Tina Tuna to anyone looking for a clean, cozy, affordable, dog-friendly vacation spot in the OBX. We loved our stay at Tina Tuna so much we have already booked it for next summer's vacation!

Total Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

This property was in excellent condition, as it has been since our first of many visits to Tina Tuna since 2003. There are several activities and restaurants a short walk away, and the beach is literally a few feet away.

Very relaxing and super convenient!

  • 5 of 5

We loved "Tina Tuna". It was the closest cottage to the beach and a very short walk (basically you walk over a dune and you are there) to the beach. Plenty of room for the 2 of us and our 2 large Labradors. Walking distance to Tortugas Lie restaurant and the Pier. Nice area for grilling out and washing off outdoors before going back inside. Parking is a bit limited but we were able to get our Jeep Grand Cherokee and a trailer parked next to this unit.

The main and only drawback for us were the beds and living room furniture. Neither were very comfortable but we didn't spend much time in the cottage, so it didn't really matter.

Food Lion is only a couple of blocks away as well.

Dave, the owner, and his wife were super nice and very helpful!

Great trip, we will probably book again for next year!

"Our Little Piece of Heaven"

  • 5 of 5

After many years of searching for just the "right" place to stay while vacationing on OBX, we finally found "Our Little Piece of Heaven". This vintage cottage brings back memories of the past, while providing many modern amenities to enhance your stay. We could find nothing lacking, from cookware, cuttlery, and dishes to outdoor shower, grill and picnic table. From the moment you arrive at the property, nostalgia takes over and you are transformed back to the 1960's, the smell of the ocean, coppertone and fresh air...it just don't get any better!

Amoung the "pluses" offered at "2 Fish Cay" is the fact that it is pet friendly. Although we did not bring a pet, there was no evidence of pets having stayed in our cottage. The property owners are more than propritors, we were greeted more like new neighbors.

We absolutely loved and truely enjoyed our two week stay here and have already booked for next year. The are many beautiful places to stay on OBX, there is always something for everyone. As for us...we have found "Our Little Piece of Heaven" right here at milepost 11!!

Owner's Response: Wow Ed and Linda, Thank you for the wonderful review. We try pretty hard and are always thinking of improvements that we can make. By next week the last two tent covers should be finished for the outdoor showers. I am glad that you have reserved for next year. We have many repeat guests and I am always afraid that their preferred week may have booked already. We look forward to your next visit. Anne and David

What a fine time at the OBX in Tina Tuna!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks to owners (Dave & Ann) for an enjoyable stay at their #1 Cottage! We had some OBX local friends over for a cocktail party and they were raving over the quaint cottages and commented about letting friends/family know. I imagine you may get some bookings from that too!

Although the weather was a little blustery at times, we really enjoyed the dune top views and I enjoyed the hammock with a good book in hand. Our 2 Boyz (Dunkin & Diesel) especially enjoyed chasing the ghost crabs.

I'm glad we brought baby gates so that we could leave the doors open without worrying about them pushing out the screendoors.

We will be re-booking. Thanks for the hospitality, welcome gift and good times!

Pulbic access next door with handicap ramp and volley ball court. Rents FRIDAY to FRIDAY. There is a great deal of information about the area as well as Restaurants and proposed events. I would recommend Jeanettes Pier in Nags Head. I googled it. The new pier is amazing. There is an aquatic museum also. Jocky's Ridge is the highest living sand dune on the east coast. They teach hang gliding and there is a wonderful store which specializes in Kites of every nature and clothing, water craft, etc desire. Thank you for your interest.
