Inviting and Homey
I loved all the rustic wood work throughout the house. The house was spacious with updated appliances in the kitchen. I loved the den with all the games which was perfect for family game nights. The area was beautiful and I truly felt like I was home the amount of beds and space was amazing really loved this house
We stayed at the Justice house after Christmas. My uncle has recently retired from 25 years in the military and him and my aunt settled in Sneads Ferry. It was the first time we celebrated a holiday together since 2008. Our stay in the little town was great. The house was comfortable, clean, and had great character. There was plenty of room for us and our 2 dogs. Although it was only a three day stay, our memories will remain foreve. We will be returning in the near future.
The home was warm, inviting, and very clean. It was also very affordable.
Worst Rental Experience
This is your typical old rental house. Dark and dingy, with the smell of mold. This "farmhouse" is not newly updated or renovated. It has a creepy feel to it, with old dolls laying around, a basement with no access (double locked with no door handle), and a trap door cut out of the wood floor in front of the basement door. Not to mention, our dog refused to walk past that trap door....
But that is not the point of this review. If it weren't for our repugnant experience with the property owner, Pattie, we would have overlooked these minor details of an overall good stay.
However, Pattie has taught us never to overlook the minor details again.
Long story short, we did a walk through of the house when we arrived and concluded that the house was not in good condition. We reported no "damage" thinking it would have been unnecessary to tell the owners about the condition of their own house. The shower curtain in the master bathroom had fallen, but we had no intention of using the shower during our short stay so we left it down after attempting and failing to get it back up. We did not realize that it was apparently broken.
We were not refunded our deserved security deposit. Pattie claimed that paint was chipped from where the curtain had fallen and that a shower curtain was missing. When I explained to her that we were unaware the rod was broken and that we did not use the master bathroom during our stay, she was extremely unsympathetic and rude. She insisted that it had to be us because the only ones there were the cleaning people and us.
I don't know what happened between the previous stay and ours, but we were not responsible for any of these "damages" to the unkept house. Even if we were, (in which case I would not take the time to write this) a "broken" shower rod is not worth the amount of money we did not receive back!
I am writing this review to express my disgust at how I was treated by the owner of this property. I explained to her that it was honestly not our damage and that we really need the money, especially with the holidays approaching.
I would have originally recommended this house, as a budget friendly place to stay, but after my experience with Pattie I would like to warn you to stay away. She does not deserve your money, and she may take more than what you signed up for.
I am not usually one to write a review, but I am really disheartened by this situation. I will never stay here again.
This is the first message from the guest I received post stay:
"HI there! We really enjoyed your home. It was a great place to spend Thanksgiving! We did not receive our security deposit refund. Do you know how to go about this?"
After explaining to her that she would only receive $50 of the $100 back, due to the damage to the bathroom and the filthy state the house was left in, I received 14 ugly messages, texts, and phone calls. She threatened to give me the worst review ever.
We did not charge her for the labor of repainting the bathroom or for the extra cleaning. We only charged her for the broken items we discovered upon check-out. We felt this to be more than fair.
Read the rest of the reviews please before making a decision. Thank you!
It was very nice and homey
We all enjoyed our stay in SneadsFerry. Nice and quiet but not far from things to do.We were very impressed with the Shrimp Festival. Hope to stay again.
A wonderful home away from home!
This home was absolutely perfect for our first family vacation away! We are a family of 9 people, 7 children, 2 adults, and this house had evening we needed to feel right at home for the week. It's also nestled closely to the river as well as the ocean but deep enough off the path to let you feel relaxed at the end of the day. I recommend this property to anyone and everyone! Thank you also for a clean and accommodating atmosphere! Many blessings!
Jessica, Jeff, and family!
