About Bob Bruce

We love to hunt and fish. My son and I bring family and friends here each season to enjoy the salmon fishing, hunting, beautiful territory. Elk and deer are plentiful.

Why Bob Bruce chose Idaho

Located in ideal setting. Affordable. Secluded, unpopulated, undisturbed area right off Highway 14, across the road from the South Fork of the Little Clear river.

Only six miles from Elk City, which has groceries, bars, restaurants, essentials.

What makes this cabin unique

Beautiful area, nestled next to the mountain and across from the river. We have great trails for ATVs and snow mobiles and hiking. Bow hunting season as well as regular hunting season. At the house you will see turkey, geese, elk and deer wandering through. Sitting on the porch with coffee in the morning with a good book and adult beverages in the evenings with family and friends are my favorite pasttimes.

Year round there is nothing like the peace and relaxation.

Spacious, Comfortable Home With Plenty of Amenities!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at the Bruce's home was quite comfortable. The upstairs unit has one bedroom with 3 beds and a separate bedroom with two beds. There were pillows and blankets to spare! The owner has thought of everything. Need a pen? A permanent marker? Notepad? Laundry detergent to use the washer and dryer in the bathroom? Electric griddle? Books to read during your stay? Board games? All present. The house is dated but I really liked the spacious, retro kitchen. The large deck looks out over the river, and the opening between mountains frames a perfect summer sunset. The river is right across the street, where we saw the remains of monstrous fish that died after spawning, as well as some living buddies. The only parts I disliked about the house was my inability to figure out the gas fireplace and the steep driveway. As we limited our drive to town (a short trip in to Elk City) and there is no phone on the property, I didn't think it was worth the phone call to inquire. We enjoyed the peace and quiet during our stay. All in all, I highly recommend to anyone wanting the amenities of home and the peace the Elk City area can provide.

Great prize for a great house

  • 5 of 5

The house was roomy and the kitchen was well stocked. Could not have asked for anything more. Great location with lots of outdoor things to do. We are not hunters, but did not need to hunt to enjoy the location. The owner was very helpful, but stayed out of the way. Though we stayed upstairs with another renter downstairs, did not hear them nor were disturbed by the. A true "getaway" location. Enjoyed all parts of our stay.

Great family vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

Great place in the wonderful town of Elk CIty, ID. My family vacations here every year for a week. We have about 10-12 people every year and it sleeps us all very comfortably. It is close to the small town of Elk City. House was clean, kitchen was stocked with basic necessities and it was warm and cozy inside. The owners are great people and very welcoming. We will be coming here for many years to come!

Great little place!

  • 4 of 5

We stayed in the downstairs and it was perfect for 2 people. Location is great if you are hunting or staying in Elk City. Only issues were that it hadn't been cleaned and we had to clean it before unpacking, and the kitchen isn't really fully stocked. It had one plate, one bowl, a few pans and few pieces of silverware. No coffee pot downstairs. There wasn't a full set of linens for the bed. We had some paper plates, plastic silverware, and sleeping bags, and made some old school cowboy coffee, so we were fine. Don't follow the VRBO map, as it shows the wrong location so be sure to get directions from owner. Otherwise, great place and upstairs looked great too if you have more people.

Family Mountain Getaway

  • 5 of 5

We were very happy with our stay near Elk City. It was very roomy and comfortable with lots of evtras. Elk were sighted just down the road and there were quite a few salmon in the river. Nice location that was quiet even though on main road. Lots of room for the grandkids to run and play. We hope to come back soon. The only downside was the place was not totally ready when we arrived, not all was clean and ready but that was only a minor inconvience. Was well worth the money---highly recommend!
