About Rene Espinosa

We are a family of four, our kids are 10 and 12 years old. This is our vacation home and we really love it. We spent the last 15 years traveling to the beautiful North Carolina Mountains before we decided to purchase our own. We enjoy snowboarding and skiing at Appalachian Ski Mountain, snow tubing, trout fishing and more during the winter months. During the warmer months, we enjoy kayaking, hiking, picnics, horseback riding and whitewater rafting. Long story short, we love the outdoors.

Rene Espinosa purchased this cabin in 2012

Why Rene Espinosa chose High Country & Blue Ridge Mountains

As John Muir said, 'The mountains are calling and we must go!' We live in South Florida and enjoy the beaches and the outdoors, but we miss the mountains and the incredible countryside vistas. We enjoy Blowing Rock and Boone for many reasons. Berry Blessed Cabin is the perfect place for families and friends to come together and spend some quality time. We first started vacationing in the area by renting homes and truly enjoyed ourselves every time. Blowing Rock is located only 2 hours from Charlotte which makes it a really easy drive. We love all the choices for outdoor activities. Our kids' favorites are kayaking the calmer parts of the New River (little and safe rapids) and climbing the rocks at Hebron Falls. We also have become quite good snow boarders spending many winter weekends at App Ski Mnt. We are going to take up fly fishing next.

What makes this cabin unique

The feeling of being in the woods without a lot of homes around us yet very close to all the comforts of Boone and the downtown historic environment of Blowing Rock. What we like about our cabin is that we can send the kids (and their friends) down to the playroom where they can be noisy and we can relax on the main area and kitchen. We rented a lot of cabins and homes first and the noise with kids and crowded feeling with many family guests was always a problem. Our cabin is perfect for a lot of people and the location is as good as it gets. We hosted a Thanksgiving family reunion a few years ago. We had 10 adults and 10 kids and it was a total success. We have the shutter fly album on the coffee table.

Our family from South and North Carolina get together every labor day weekend.

The last 4 yrs we started staying at cabins instead of motels as we are a large

group and this allows us to gather and visit as a group but also have our private rooms.

This one was truly amazing and our favorite thus far. The pictures of this cabin are nice

but in person it is spectacular. My personal favorite was the view of the mountains,

the gorgeous landscaping and the uplighting of the trees surrounding the cabin.

It is very well kept, beautifully decorated, clean and spacious. Kitchen was fully stocked

and seating for everyone. We enjoyed the large deck and roasting marshmallows and

making smores at the fire pit.

It was hard to believe that town was just a few minutes away as it is conveniently located.

The owner was very helpful with any questions we had at booking and after our arrival. If

you choose to stay here you will not be disappointed. We enjoyed our stay. made beautiful

memories and will definitely return.

Wonderful house that accommodates a crowd

  • 5 of 5

Our three families for a total of eleven have vacationed at this wonderful house for three years now. It is anout 10 minutes to both Blowing Rock and Boone, but just far enough away to feel the solitude of the woods. Which are beautiful.

The house is large enough to hold our three families very comfortably as each family gets a floor to themselves. There is flat land where the children can play and up the small hill is a fire pit with wood provided. Many a marshmallow was roasted there!

A hot tub on the upstairs deck was a new addition this year! That was a treat enjoyed by adults and children. And it has a wonderful view to enjoy while you soak. It was actually a lifesaver because we had many days of rain. The children played in the hot tub in the rain. :-)

We enjoyed morning coffee and afternoon cocktails on the deck rocking in the comfortable chairs as we looked over the mountains beyond. There is a picnic table for meals or board games and another outside table on the patio in back.

We thoroughly enjoy Berry Blessed and hope to return for many more years.

Great house, great location

  • 5 of 5

We had a great time. The home is beautiful and well maintained. Nice pine wood finishes. A spa, fire pit, great room, huge rear porch with breathtaking views. The house was just far enough outside to be secluded and private, but close enough to the market and venues to make it convienient. We are booking now to come back next year for another week.

Berry Blessed was wonderful...

  • 5 of 5

For the brief family gathering -- Berry Blessed was a wonderful stay. It accommodated the needs (an wants) for the extended family to experience the peace of nature while having the advantage of being in close proximity to all that Blowing Rock has to offer (Theme parks, restaurants, grocery stores). From the play area, to the guest rooms, to the master suite -- the home was cozy, clean and the views were therapeutic.

I would definitely recommend this to any large family/group, not just for the amenities, but the security of knowing the responsiveness of the owner is swift and assuring, that any unfamiliarity is simply a few keystrokes away from a resolve, or the lead to a resolve.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

Rented 4 houses in the neighborhood for a family reunion. Of the 4, this was the best "party" house for the crew. Lots of living/dining/deck space for family to gather in. Those who slept there enjoyed the bedrooms and were very comfortable in the house. The driveway would be a challenge in the winter, but accessible in summertime, especially with AWD. Great games downstairs, and plenty of room in the kitchen for a big dinner prep. Very happy with our rental!
