Why Ellen Engel chose South Philadelphia

This house is situated in a nice, quiet neighborhood with easy access to Center City and the Sports Complex. It's an old Italian neighborhood filled with great restaurants and takeout (especially Italian). It is only three blocks to the subway and only four stops to center city. Two to the Sports Complex. There is street parking if you prefer to drive. In Center City you will find theater, movie theaters, restaurants, cultural events, museums and historical landmarks of all kinds. Philly has a great history and vibe. People are friendly, the food is great, and there is lots to see and explore.

What makes this house unique

The house is spacious and very nice. A historical, but recently renovated row house with modern decoration. It has central air, a back patio with barbecue and outside furniture. The basement is a finished basement and sitting room and can serve as an in-law apartment.

Wonderful home, in great shape, nice neighborhood

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay over a long weekend visit to Philadelphia. The home is well cared for and in great shape. The owner is pleasant to work with and accommodated our needs. Thank you. I'd say, we'll be back!

Hope for cool weather when staying.....

  • 2 of 5

great space, but hot and humid days in Philadelphia proved to be too much for the air-conditioning. Not being able to sleep due to being overly hot sours the whole experience.

Also believe that basics like soap at each bathroom sink and toilet paper for at least 2 nights of stay should be provided.

Owner was very accommodating regarding check-in and check - out to meet all the varying flight schedules of guests.

Owner's Response: Guest stayed a few nights. After the first night they advised us the a/c was not cooling enough. Asked them to try to readjust thermostat and let us know whether it was better. If not we would get someone in to look at it. Did not hear it was not better until they checked out and sent us a note. We called someone in to repair. A/c needed a replacement piece and works fine. We regret it was not up to speed during guests stay. We tried to accommodate guests with early check in and out and rearranged cleaning schedules to make their stay easier.

Miami, Fl.

very centrally located

  • 3 of 5

Overall, the house was centrally located. We enjoyed our stay! The owner responded immediately to any need. One downfall was the staircase it is very steep so I would not recommend it to people with small children unless a gate is provided.

We had a good stay!

Owner's Response: We are so glad you enjoyed the location and the house. The staircase is steep. It is a row house--narrow and tall. One of the charms and one of the drawbacks--the nature of the row house. We make to tell our elderly prospects before they book. Thank you for pointing out we should do the same for people with small children.

Owner's Response: I am so glad you enjoyed the close to everything benefits the house has. Our favorite when we come back to the house is never having to use our car!

Very clean and beautifully kept space. Very comfortable.

  • 5 of 5

We attended the Craft Brewer's Conference and needed a house for our team. Had not stayed in Philly before, so while at first we weren't sure about the location, we quickly realized it was safe and close to Broad Street that allowed us easy access to Mass Transit and local amenities. Parking is somewhat scarce, but after 24 hours, we found spots right in front of the home. Really neat, clean and comfortable inside. We sincerely appreciated and enjoyed our stay.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. The house location is ideal for people wanting to go to Center City. We are happy you felt the same. And, we agree. Sometimes the parking can be a bit tough but in most cases we have always found a space within a few blocks from the house. There is ample to room to double park to unload in case there is not a space close to the house. Please come again.
