Ellen Engel purchased this house in 2005
This house is situated in a nice, quiet neighborhood with easy access to Center City and the Sports Complex. It's an old Italian neighborhood filled with great restaurants and takeout (especially Italian). It is only three blocks to the subway and only four stops to center city. Two to the Sports Complex. There is street parking if you prefer to drive. In Center City you will find theater, movie theaters, restaurants, cultural events, museums and historical landmarks of all kinds. Philly has a great history and vibe. People are friendly, the food is great, and there is lots to see and explore.
The house is spacious and very nice. A historical, but recently renovated row house with modern decoration. It has central air, a back patio with barbecue and outside furniture. The basement is a finished basement and sitting room and can serve as an in-law apartment.
Overall, the house was centrally located. We enjoyed our stay! The owner responded immediately to any need. One downfall was the staircase it is very steep so I would not recommend it to people with small children unless a gate is provided.
We had a good stay!
Great location. Close to downtown. Felt safe in the neighborhood. Property was clean and a very nice size. Close eating places within walking distance .
We attended the Craft Brewer's Conference and needed a house for our team. Had not stayed in Philly before, so while at first we weren't sure about the location, we quickly realized it was safe and close to Broad Street that allowed us easy access to Mass Transit and local amenities. Parking is somewhat scarce, but after 24 hours, we found spots right in front of the home. Really neat, clean and comfortable inside. We sincerely appreciated and enjoyed our stay.
Great location one block away from passyunk and great restaurants/bars. We were three generations and the flow of the house meant grandmother could go to bed early and the rest of us could chill downstairs. Beds were amazingly comfortable, kitchen was well equipped Only rough spot was parking. We were out late both nights and had to drive around for quite a while to find parking far away.
My son lives in philly so we go down a lot and we will certainly stay at this lovely house again
I was impressed from the moment I contacted the owner. Ellen was prompt is her response time and the property was just as she and the posting on VRBO described it.
The area that it's located in is not bad at all. Walking distance to ACME for groceries and there are a few bars close by as well.
Only about an $11-$14 UBER ride to market street from here and it was the perfect spot and house to host a family get together for about 10 people.
This was my first time using VRBO so I feel a bit spoiled moving forward because of how great Ellen was an a host and how awesome the place is!!
Thank you Ellen!
City environment. Walk out the door and walk to grocery, bakery, butcher, restaurants, bars.
