Great vacation!

  • 5 of 5

The four of us stayed here for a week (2 couples). Property is incredible. View is unbelievable. Sunsets are amazing. Everything you could want for a vacation house this cabin has!! You won't regret your stay for a second. The other cabin is maybe 50 ft away but we rarely saw them even though it was multiple different people. It really is secluded up there! Bob the owner is a really friendly guy and has many suggestions for things to do in NC. Much thanks to him for driving us up and down the mountain every day. You absolutely need 4wheel drive!! We plan on going back soon! Also Burt the Emu is pretty legit.

Great hospitality and amazing view

  • 5 of 5

It was the perfect distance outside of the city and for being in mountains. The views were breathtaking! The 4 wheel drive is no joke. Make sure you take one with you or get a rental! We would definitely do this again!

Amazing view, close proximity to downtown Asheville

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here for 4 nights, and lucked out with some unusually warm weather for early November. Everyone is right about needing a 4x4 vehicle to get up and down that mountain. That was one heck of a climb to get to the top. I do think they could do some grating to make the trek a little smoother. The sunrises and sunsets are incredible. The house was a little smaller/older (furniture well worn, doors that need painting) than we had anticipated, but we knew we'd be out most of the day so it suited it's purpose. We did have an issue with the cleanliness of the house, thankfully Kristen did work with us on that; whenever I rent a house I assume the house will be appropriately cleaned before a new guest arrives. Overall our stay was fine, and Kristen and Bob are very nice people, but I think if we come back to Asheville we will look for a newer, more modern rental property.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to share your comments Meghan. The gravel road that rises over 1,000 feet to the top of the mountain will have some bumps, even though we maintain it on a regular basis. Arriving at the top and seeing the views is well worth a few bumps! The pictures of this unit reflect the size of the unit. We do a thorough cleaning between guests, but things can be missed from time-to-time, so glad Kristen was able to accommodate you.

Great Property!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great cabin with a fantastic view. Bob and Kristen were both very helpful with recommendations and also easy to reach for rides up and down the mountain. Sadly, Bert was missing but we had plenty of fun exploring the land and enjoying the hammock swings. And you can't beat a hot tub with a view!

Beautiful private space in the mountains!

  • 4 of 5

This was a GREAT location to get away and enjoy the mountain view! Getting up the mountain was an adventure in itself, but well worth the bumpy drive! The cabin is situated with one of the best views that you could ask for and it was nice to be away from all the hustle and bustle of Asheville. The cabin was very clean and had most everything that you might need and had a very spacious outdoor area to relax on both the balcony and on the mountaintop. This was perfectly centrally located for all of our activities for hiking in Grandfather Mountain, rappelling Big Bradley, and exploring the Biltmore. I would definitely stay there again!!
