The Farm on West Dry Creek Road

Bedrooms 1
Space 280 sq. ft.
Property type studio
Minimum Stay 2 nights

About the property

Studio, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

In the heart of the wine country, a golden room with private bath and a hot tub just outside on the deck overlooking the vineyards of Dry Creek Valley in Sonoma County, California. Separated from the main house, high up on a second floor over a quiet Feldenkrais studio, behind the garage, it has it's own entrance and much aerie, your own private heaven. The eyes meet with dramatic views of the valley floor with Geyser Peak in the distance.

What a wonderful place to stay for local events! Find yourselves one mile from the Vineman bike route, three miles from Lake Sonoma, nine miles from Healdsburg, where you can rent a kayak for kayaking down the Russian River or rent a bike to go biking in the Dry Creek Valley, and also located within walking or biking distance of numerous wineries for an exquisite wine tasting experience.

Winter brings a more quiet time and our farm can become a secluded restorative hideaway for rest and relaxation. Reading, long walks in the fresh air, contemplation and clarification...all are possible..

You may hear occasional sounds of tractors, roosters, dogs & cats. You'll be on a small farm.

About Charlotte Chavez

We are a 70 year-old married couple who work at their own businesses. Stan manages small vineyards and Charlotte is a Feldenkrais Practitioner.

We have lived here for over 25 years and this is our most favorite spot in all the world!

Charlotte Chavez purchased this studio in 1986

Why Charlotte Chavez chose Sonoma County

Stan built this vacation rental over Charlotte's studio and connected to a garage so that we could have room for family and friends when they visit.

What makes this studio unique

Walks in the vineyards, kayaking out at the lake, bike riding, wine tasting, wonderful local restaurants and a great Farmer's Market! Plus lots of things to do in the nearby towns of Healdsburg, Geyserville, and Cloverdale!!

Guestbook comments from the owner

David and I had a great time and really enjoyed getting to know you and Stan. Sitting on the deck eating breakfast as the sun came up, looking out at the incredible view of the vineyards and mountains, and then being in the hot tub at night under the enormous blanket of stars are memories I'll always cherish. It was perfect!

We look forward to going back again.

Thank you for sharing your home (and pooches!) with us!

A quiet little piece of heaven amongst the vines

  • 5 of 5

Let me preface this review for those considering this location by saying: This is a farm setting. Really. Mostly it is peaceful and quiet but you may hear a dog barking in the morning or a rooster. Again, it is a farm setting. Expect that.

We absolutely loved our time in the adorable loft apartment that Charlotte and Stan have created. The views over the vineyards are beyond stunning. Sitting in the little hot tub in the evening looking out over the vineyard while the sun went down was sublime, especially after a day of winetasting or shopping in Healdsburg. The peacefulness of this setting encouraged us to disconnect and unwind in a way that most vacation locations do not. While Charlotte and Stan's residence is right next door, they respect your privacy and the views from the apartment face away from their home. You really don't realize they are there until you walk down to your car.

The loft apartment is perfect in every way. Great bed. Plenty of space. All amenities have been thought of. And if you forget something, there is a good chance that Stan or Charlotte can accommodate you in that regard. The breakfast on our day of arrival and departure was delicious, with fresh fruit and almond croissants that were scrumptious.

In short, this is the perfect place to be close to all of the attractions of Healdsburg and Sonoma but not be in the middle of all of the chaos of the tourist district. Would recommend this place to anyone who wants to unwind!

Perfect getaway

  • 5 of 5

We could not have asked for anything more! Our stay was absolutely fabulous! The view is spectacular, the hot tub divine, incredibly peaceful and quiet. The cottage has everything you need. Fully stocked bathroom, incredibly comfortable bed and pillows. Loved having small refrigerator. The hosts are wonderful! Kind, friendly, gracious. Incredible attention to detail.

Fresh cut flowers on arrival, delicious homemade breakfast.

The location is perfect. Walking distance to a few local family owned wineries. And short driving distance to town.

We are grateful to have found this gem on VRBO. I have a feeling we will be back sometime soon!

Perfect location in this cycling mecca. The hot tub and great hosts put it over the top.

  • 5 of 5

The room was clean and comfortable. Every comfort for a quiet unplugged get away is considered. The views of the vineyards, nice deck with table, chairs and hot tub were awesome. We really enjoyed getting to know our hosts Stan and Charlotte. We are cyclists and could ride everywhere right from their home. Tons of great vineyards. We found the local food very fresh, a culinary delight to dicover.

Gorgeous Wine Country Retreat

  • 5 of 5

It was exactly what we were looking for...a small retreat for us to refresh and relax in between wine tastings and foodie fun in Healdsburg. This studio gave us everything we wanted...privacy, a chance to disconnect (no tele/no phone), to relax (perfect hot tub for two which was made better by the harvest moon), delicious breakfast and coffee (fresh ground and pour over...the best!), and a very gracious and hospitable host. This gem of a retreat is nestled smack in the middle of are surrounded on all sides...which made wine tasting between Healdsburg and Geyserville convenient and fun (it is always fun to just drive by and say...Hey, that looks interesting!) 15 minutes from some amazing restaurants in Healdsburg and an hour away from Sonoma. Our hosts provided Wi-Fi (so, we weren't completely unplugged! And it was nice since we often were mapping out our trip to various places and the cell coverage in the area is often spotty), anything we needed (such as more coffee!), a hairdryer, several various toiletry items, clean linens (and enough towels for both the shower and hot tub), and privacy. They have very friendly dogs, so I was often greeted in the morning by wagging tails and ears to scratch (no barking in the morning...only when we would pull up in the car. Both are well behaved and just excited to see new people.) Fall was an amazing time to be here...the leaves on the vines were arrayed from red to yellow, the host's fruit trees were laden with gorgeous lemons, oranges (or maybe persimmons), olives, and apples. We fell in love with this area and have decided that we will most definitely be back and hope to stay at this property! We strongly recommend this property to anyone interested in staying in the heart of wine country. Some of the restaurants we recommend: Dry Creek Kitchen, Valette's, Bacci Cafe. Vineyards: Moshin, Porter Creek, and Segehsio...there are so many others...these three were the ones we ordered from/joined their club. Salut!

The location was beautiful. In the middle of a vineyard! Secluded yet close to some amazing wineries

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing time, visited beautiful wineries and tasted fabulous wines. We were away from all the hype of Napa and had an incredible time. Our host and hostess Charlotte and Stan Chavez were the best. Our room was warm and inviting. Our morning croissants, fruit and coffee were a perfect touch. I highly recommend staying here and will definitely return. Debby
