M&M's Retreat is situated on Otter Lake, top of the water shed. You will enjoy pristine clear water activities on this quiet bay of Otter Lake. Relax on the private deck, or down by the water with a drink and a loved one and enjoy the silence, nature and fresh air. The porch swing in the screened area is also a favorite spot in the evening or in the morning for breakfast at our small table.
The house will comfortably sleep 12 with 2 master suites with full bathrooms in close proximity, one bathroom with sauna, and the other with whirlpool tub.

monica or mike purchased this house in 1999
The property abuts a conservation area and is within walking distance to Frontenac Provincial park which offers miles of well marked trails and great canoeing.
3 Families, 12 in total, several teenagers. The cottage is warm, inviting spacious and clean. Has all the amenities. Nice deck for breakfast and dinner. The water is excellent, great swimming, fishing and tubing. Its a short hike to the waterfront but not bad. Bring a fold-up gazebo - there is a large open area at the dock and you will want shade if sitting around chatting. There are about 4 other docks in close proximity but we rarely saw any neighbours. This is a real beauty, well worth it. Thank you
This was our second year at Mike and Monica's Cottage and we have thoroughly enjoyed it both years. We used it as a holiday place for ourselves and a gathering place for our children and grand-children. We love the spaciousness of the place. With the spacious balcony, closed-in veranda, large living/dining room, kitchen area, and the large area near the water, it allowed us to gather as a family or separate for some quiet time as needed. We made good use of the canoe, paddle boat and kayak during our visit and enjoyed our swims off the dock and roasting marshmallows by the fire pit. Mike and Monica were also very helpful and accommodating during our stay. We would highly recommend it.
This cottage exceeded our expectations and we have to say that we really had a wonderful stay. We shared the cottage with one other family (eight of us altogether). The cottage was spacious, clean and bright and we really liked the open concept. It has so many windows that let in lots of the natural light as well as ample views of the surrounding forest and lake. We loved the screened in porch with a wonderful porch swing to sit and relax in. It really was a great place to unwind and to enjoy the sounds of nature, especially in the evenings. We were also happy to find an outdoor hammock at the back of the walk out basement; something we all made sure to take advantage of. Our kids were happier still to have a private lake to swim in with a private dock and access to a paddle boat, canoe and kayak and fishing rods. Along with the outdoor 'toys', they also had a ping pong table to use and a variety of family board games provided to help pass the time. They definitely came in handy on rainy days, not to mention the flat screen TV and DVDs. We also took advantage of the Frontenac Provincial Park that is a five minute drive from the cottage to hike, picnic and swim. Lastly, and most importantly, there was more than enough room to sleep us all. The bedrooms were very nice, indeed and the beds were very comfortable. (Extra bedding and pillows were also provided if we needed them.) Overall, this cottage provided everything we needed and more. We definitely want to stay here again and we highly recommend it to others!!!
The cottage worked out perfectly and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their stay there. What a lovely ares Fred James
The Relaxing Waterfront Retreat, is exactly that!
Mike and Monica were amazing hosts. During the entire booking process, they were kind and fair, and very open and honest with us.
My husband and I booked this property for our family for a quick getaway. It was absolutely perfect! There are 5 rooms, all clean and updated. Monica left us with clean sheets, towels and a spotless house!
The home itself is inviting, open and tastefully rustic. It has a very genuine "cottagey" feel to it, which our families loved! We were so happy that we were allowed to bring our small dog Leo, which made our trip complete.
The waterfront has a great dock (and Muskoka chairs!) along with a canoe, paddleboat, and kayak just for our use! There was a shed filled with water guns, and fishing equipment as well. The water was great to swim in, and theres a Provincial Park (Frontenac) just minutes away of you're looking to hike! There's a games room downstairs that has a great ping-pong table if it rains, and some family friendly board games. Not to mention a huge flatscreen TV complete with lots of DVDs!
We were so happy and pleased with our stay, and will definitely be booking again and again! Thank you for your hospitality and letting us stay in your beautiful home!
We had a wonderful time last week at this cottage. Seven of us where there for the whole week and then others came for a visit at the beginning and end of the week. We particularly enjoyed the canoes and kayaks and the time spent exploring the lake. Frontenac Prov. Park was a good place for hiking trails. The air chair in the screened porch was another favourite spot. We've rented before in Muskoka and near Peterborough and found this area to be much much quieter and peaceful. We spent one day in Kingston which was nice too. The 8 year old and 5 year old in our group loved the little rock island just off the dock. The fire pit was close and convenient too. Mosquitos and bugs were not a big problem which was another very positive part of the experience. We would definitely consider coming back.
