Amazing cottage, awesome location, great swimming and fishing

  • 5 of 5

I stayed at M & M's Retreat for three nights in September with 9 friends. It was a great weekend of cottage fun. We were planning to go golfing, but decided to enjoy the lake and the cottage instead. The cottage is spacious, we did not feel cramped at all and the surrounding trees block the neighbouring cottages from view. There are only 5 or 6 docks on the bay. The ping pong table and sauna were very popular. The walk to the water is nice and the grassy area down by the water was great for lawn games and got sun in to the late afternoon. The swimming was excellent. It seems to be a shallow bay, but there is a drop off right at the end of the dock. I was lucky enough to catch a 4 lb large mouth bass right off the dock. Plenty of fish if you have kids and want them to catch a lot of them. I also saw some beavers and herons on the lake. The boats provided are in great condition and there are lifejackets and paddles for everyone.

Overall this was a great cottage and I would definitely consider renting it again. The pictures do not do it justice.

Thanks M & M for a great weekend.

Fantastic Place

  • 5 of 5

3 Families, 12 in total, several teenagers. The cottage is warm, inviting spacious and clean. Has all the amenities. Nice deck for breakfast and dinner. The water is excellent, great swimming, fishing and tubing. Its a short hike to the waterfront but not bad. Bring a fold-up gazebo - there is a large open area at the dock and you will want shade if sitting around chatting. There are about 4 other docks in close proximity but we rarely saw any neighbours. This is a real beauty, well worth it. Thank you

Great Vacation Property

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year at Mike and Monica's Cottage and we have thoroughly enjoyed it both years. We used it as a holiday place for ourselves and a gathering place for our children and grand-children. We love the spaciousness of the place. With the spacious balcony, closed-in veranda, large living/dining room, kitchen area, and the large area near the water, it allowed us to gather as a family or separate for some quiet time as needed. We made good use of the canoe, paddle boat and kayak during our visit and enjoyed our swims off the dock and roasting marshmallows by the fire pit. Mike and Monica were also very helpful and accommodating during our stay. We would highly recommend it.

Thoroughly pleasing waterfront cottage!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage exceeded our expectations and we have to say that we really had a wonderful stay. We shared the cottage with one other family (eight of us altogether). The cottage was spacious, clean and bright and we really liked the open concept. It has so many windows that let in lots of the natural light as well as ample views of the surrounding forest and lake. We loved the screened in porch with a wonderful porch swing to sit and relax in. It really was a great place to unwind and to enjoy the sounds of nature, especially in the evenings. We were also happy to find an outdoor hammock at the back of the walk out basement; something we all made sure to take advantage of. Our kids were happier still to have a private lake to swim in with a private dock and access to a paddle boat, canoe and kayak and fishing rods. Along with the outdoor 'toys', they also had a ping pong table to use and a variety of family board games provided to help pass the time. They definitely came in handy on rainy days, not to mention the flat screen TV and DVDs. We also took advantage of the Frontenac Provincial Park that is a five minute drive from the cottage to hike, picnic and swim. Lastly, and most importantly, there was more than enough room to sleep us all. The bedrooms were very nice, indeed and the beds were very comfortable. (Extra bedding and pillows were also provided if we needed them.) Overall, this cottage provided everything we needed and more. We definitely want to stay here again and we highly recommend it to others!!!
