A second shared guest kitchen, and rooftop patio(mirador). We have helped many guests looking to this area for possible retirement make that most important decision and become friends to many along the way.
We are a husband and wife team who have moved from Oregon to Lake Chapala and are living our dream of retirement in a paradise setting and are enjoying our new love of having a guest house, welcoming travelers from all over the world.
From the moment we came to Lakeside we fell in love with the year round summer weather which wasn't hard to do after spending years in Oregon winters. We hope that many of you will come and spend time with us in our home enjoying the people, weather, location and activities of the Lake Chapala area.
We now have 2 rescue cats, they were kennel mates for 3 years; they adapted to us immediately. They are curious and can be rascals. If you'd rather not be around the cats or have allergies, please let us know, the cats will be out of site. If you have a pet you'd like to join you; please ask first so we can talk about your needs and see if it's a good fit.
Buz and Christie Hazen purchased this hotel in 2015
Centrally located in Chapala, a forty minute drive from the airport of Guadalajara. The airport is easily reached by taxi, or personal driver. All the attractions around Lakeside can easily be accessed from here by starting with a short walk to the bus stop, and an incredible Mexican experience on the local buses.
We have been coming to Mexico for many years and have found Lake Chapala to be our place in the sun.
Location, location, location. We can not say enough about where we are located. There is no need for a car here, an aspect we love. We enjoy the experience of the local bus rides with the unexpected entertainment that gives it it's unique Mexican flavor. We offer secure indoor parking for motorcycles, and getting around the area does not require a car. Whether it be bus, taxi, private vehicle or just on foot you can easily reach shopping, the beach, restaurants and other activities from here, and the walking is easy here.
One of our favorite rituals is to sit in an open air restaurant at the Malecon and have an evening cocktail, watch the sun go down and then enjoy a short walk home.
Buz & Christie are excellent hosts. Don't forget the rooftop terrace for your afternoon wine.
We can not say enough good things about the couple who own and run this unique property. Buzz and Christie are warm friendly, and they absolutely do everything humanly possible to make your stay with them the best experience. The location is great you can walk to everything needed and the Melecon is beautiful. We did have a car and street parking is no problem. Restaurants are plentiful, so good and reasonably priced. I feel safer here than I do on Vancouver Island. We have made so many new friends. Christie and Buzz at the top of the list. We would like to move to the area and when we come back to scout it out, We are afraid this jewel of a place will be booked up, it's just great
Everything about El Pequeno is great. The rooms are colourful, comfortable,, and clean, the location is excellent, and the new owners, Buzz and Christie, are amazing. They were so accommodating and made our stay such a pleasure. There is a lovely shared kitchen and a beautiful roof-top patio where we relaxed in the sun and watched amazing sunsets. We enjoyed using the local busses and had no trouble finding our way to Ajijic, where we found beautiful shops and restaurants. The whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable. We plan to stay at El Pequeno again and again. Highly recommend it.
what a wonderful time staying with Lynn and Murray at their newly renovated hotel one block from the beach and center of town and across the street from the local police. I enjoyed the view from the rooftop patio the local flora N fauna is amazing. no need for a vehicle cuz everything was in with walking distance
We are really pleased with our stay at the Pequeño Hotel, the price is right and the location is amazing, we had our car with us and always found street parking available, while in Chapala we did not used our car at all, everything its at walking distance, restaurants with great views are really close. We went to Ajijic and San Juan Cosala, driving back in the night is easy and safe. I really recommend El Pequeño Hotel.
This is a small but very nice hotel located just where you want to be in Chapala, Mexico. If your thinking of checking out Chapala or Ajijic this would be the place. There is no need for a car as everything in Chapala is a short walk away and Ajijic is accessible by the local bus (8 pesos) which can be found within a 5 minute walk.
The owners are very nice and helpful and the rooms are tastefully decorated. The mattress, bedding, bath towels, security, and lighting all exceed the room rates at this hotel. There is also a community kitchen with all of the utensils, cookware etc. that one would need should the desire to prepare food arise. The variety of restaurants, cafes and coffee shops within a short walk of the hotel kept the use of the kitchen down to a minimum for this traveler. The wifi is reasonably fast, reliable and included as well. I stayed one week here and was completely satisfied. 'The El Pequeno' is a great value.
In the heart of the city and still walking distance to boats for hire and water tours of Lake Chapala, and islands. A short walk to everything on good roads and sidewalks.
