2 Bedrooms, 1.5 Bath Estate on the banks of the Chetco River (Sleeps 2-5)
Welcome to Paradise along southern Oregon's pristine Chetco River. Only 18 miles inland from the coast town of Brookings, a scenic half-hour drive along the river transports you to a beautiful and wilderness setting.
The Chetco River Inns' 36 very secluded acres on the banks of the Chetco River is surrounded by the Siskiyou National Forest. Our home caters to both nature lovers and anglers, and makes for a great getaway. Whether renting rooms in the 5 Bedroom Main Lodge or staying in the romantic ''Rockhouse' Cottage next to our newley planted vineyard, our homes are ideal for families gatherings, work retreats, couples and friends seeking outdoor activities and relaxation.
The Inn's thirty-six acres are completely private and offer gentle walks, fishing, hiking, mountain biking, swimming, kayaking, rafting, paddleboarding, or simply floating down river.
World-class Salmon and Steelhead fishing can be enjoyed from directly in front of the Inn and excellent Cutthroat trout fishing is nearby in the River's many tributaries. If fishing is your passion, you simply can't beat our location on this upper streach of the Chetco River. If you wish, we're also happy to help by referring you to some of the best local professional guides who float fish long stretches of the river.
The Main Lodge offers 5 bedrooms, each with their own bath. 2 river view rooms have double beds. 3 forest view rooms have either king or twin beds. Look out over the spacious common room with its panoramic river views while cooking in the large kitchen; Or enjoy a movie in the den. Sit on the deck in one of the rocking chairs while enjoying the river view or firepit.
The estate also features a separate cottage called the 'Rockhouse' that sleeps 4 with a king (or 2 twins) upstairs and 2 twins downstairs. The 'Rockhouse' also includes a full kitchen and 1 1/2 baths with a private patio with BBQ grill. The 'Rockhouse' overlooks our new vineyard planted in Pinot Noir, is located near our gardens, and is privately situated near the river and away from the Main Lodge.

Marci purchased this Estate in 2011
Why Marci chose Curry County
The Chetco River Inn is a breathtaking wilderness estate constructed on 36 private acres surrounded by the Siskiyou National Forest and built by Clay and Sandra Bruger many years ago as a homestead. Since it's creation, the Inn has inspired memories of warm hospitality, natural beauty, and unique outdoor activities. After changing owners a couple of times recently, the Chetco River Inn is open once again. The caretakers, Oscar and Kat are ready to welcome you.
What makes this Estate unique
In the summer months, we enjoy swimming and floating down the gentle Chetco river. In the winter, we love Salmon fishing and hiking the many surrounding acres. For more information about our wonderful property.

A beautiful garden cottage on a river bank
My family of 5 (2 adults and 3 children aged 7, 3, 3) stayed at the Rock Cottage for two nights. I only regret that we did not stay longer. Whah a treasure this place is. I did not think a place like this could be rented for mere money. It is a beautiful craftsman cottage. It is beautifully built and maintained with care. Spotlessly clean, comfortable, and sensible. The place is operated on solar power, so the electricity was a bit spotty in the morning - but enough to run the coffee machine, and there was always hot water (run on on-demand propane heater). Yes, there are only beds for 4, we brought a sleeping bag for our son, and he slept on the floor in the upstairs bedroom. We appreciated that the wood stove was stacked and match-ready when we arrived. We loved having meals out on the patio overlooking the garden and the winery. The kids loved the play in the garden and enjoed seeing the chickens and the pigs. We thoroughly enjoyed the crystal clear river and the beach. The place is so peaceful. Takes years of stress off in a day. So glad there was no TV in the cottage. I did not think places like this existed anymore. We hope to be back agan.
We are so happy your family loved our property as much as our family does. It truely is a magical place. We hope your lovely family made wonderful memories. Hope you can make it out again.
Sincerely, The Barker Family
Loved the Rock House and the property! Wonderful way to unplug.
Would definitely go back to this Inn when back in the area.
Oscar the groundskeeper was so much help. Thank you.
If you are staying in the cottage be sure and bring a laptop(no TV), and a few movies.
Also arrive before sunset the first time so you can see the landmarks easily to find the Inn.
Purchase groceries before going to the Inn as well it took me about 30 minutes to get back into Brookings/Harbor.
Be prepared for a lovely time and amazing views.
Internet/wifi accessible st the main Inn building. We would walk our dog over that way to check messages. No phone services though so be prepared in advance to let family know so they are not worried.
Personally I loved being forced off the grid for a few hours each day it was very relaxing. We listened to lots of music from our phones(note bring an external speaker), and played games.
I wish we could have stayed longer. The little stone house would be a perfect getaway for a couple. Or two. We thought it slept 6 because that's what the listing said but their are beds for only 4. The last two people are supposed to sleep on the floor of the master bedroom (you bring the mattress and sleeping bags). Lots of extra charges threatened for dog hair, dog piles left on "the lawn", etc. I'm still waiting for my $100 deposit reimbursement.
Janice, Thanks for letting me know about the security deposit. Security deposit refunds are given by VRBO. I will call them to see what is going on. I was sent a correspondence saying they refunded the deposit the day after your stay. It may be on your credit card.
Best to you,
Dream Come True
This was our first visit to Oregon and we were not disappointed. We did extensive research on the web to find the perfect remote getaway. We followed the directions given, driving slowly down the wooded remote road, taking in the beauty of the bridges, mountains, and massive trees. We arrive to see a beautiful river in front of us...so refreshing. All our cares fell off our shoulders. Our cottage was waiting for us. We flung open the door. All my husband could say was WOW! Look how huge. We spent the next couple of days just roaming the grounds and river taking tons of photos. This place is unforgettable. Thank you Chetco Inn, we truly loved it.
We loved having you and hope you can make it out again.
Peacefull stay on the River
Very accommodating, a quiet (Frickles the rooster did his thing all day long, we didn't mind) peaceful cottage with Vineyard view. The rock house was just as described. Very clean and efficient. Our stay included swimming in the river.
Great place to get away from it all!
I would give more stars if I could! If you are looking for a dog friendly place to get away from it all and say in a comfortable cabin on the banks of a pristine river look no further. It is off grid, has all the comforts and is close enough to town if you need to run in for supplies. Had a great time fishing and mushroom hunting! Many thanks to Kat and Oscar who were great hosts!
Our private 36 acre property offers acres of river frontage, a long stretch of beach along the river, swimming holes, rapids, fishing, boat put-in, deep water holes for fishing or jumping, our vineyard, veggie garden, orchard, walking trails, hammocks, a horse shoe pit, and seating along the banks of the river. Enjoy world-class Chinook Salmon and Steelhead fishing directly in front of the Inn and cottage. Or, local guides can be recommended for those who wish to float fish a long stretch of the river. Cutthroat trout fishing is also popular in nearby tributaries of the main Chetco river. River kayaking, floating, and paddleboarding can be done with easy river access from the property. Nearby hiking and mountain biking trails are in the surrounding Siskiyou National Forest and and the nearby Kalmiopsis Wilderness areas. Nearby golf is also available at the beautiful Salmon Run course in Brookings.
