Perfect for family vacations with sandy-bottom, shallow beach with very gradual grade (no drop-offs). Spectacular water views with both sunrise and sunsets and the lights of Traverse City! Fires on the beach and dinners on the deck. 15 minutes from shopping and restaurants in downtown Traverse City and only 5 minutes from charming downtown Suttons Bay. A mile from the TART trail, a paved bike path that connects Traverse City and Suttons Bay. A great starting point for all the vineyards, orchards, towns and sights of Leelanau County including the towns of Northport, Leland, Glen Arbor and Empire as well as Sleeping Bear Dunes, of course.

Enjoy a glass of wine at sunset on the upper deck or a cup of coffee on the large covered porch overlooking the bay. Truly paradise in Northern Michigan!

CLEAN and NEW HOME! Cherry cabinets throughout, master bath jacuzzi and tile shower, gas fireplace, maple flooring, outdoor shower and covered front and back decks with Trex Decking. Asphalt drive. Sandy-bottomed beach - shallow and gradual, very safe for kids.

The carpeted master bedroom is on the first floor with a private deck. The private master bath includes jacuzzi tub and custom tile shower. There is also a laundry room with washer and dryer as well as a half-bath on the first floor.

The living room overlooks the bay with gas stone fireplace and maple hardwood floors to bring the beauty of Northern Michigan inside.

The kitchen is spacious with stove, oven, microwave, disposal, dishwasher and numerous appliances (soup-maker, rice-cooker, panini-maker, pancake griddle, toaster and toaster oven, crock pot, blender and more). There is a bar area for a quick breakfast or settle into the farm table in the dining room surrounded by windows overlooking the water.

A beautiful staircase takes you upstairs to two large bedrooms each with private bath and walk-in closet, along with a sitting area. Each bedroom has a private entrance to the balcony which has a tempered-glass railing to provide an unobstructed view of West Bay.

There is a mudroom coming in from the garage for coats, shoes, beach towels and toys with sitting area and cabinetry.

The home has a foosball table and air hockey table as well as drawers full of Legos and Thomas the Train tracks for the kids. Cabinets hide board games and puzzles for all to enjoy. There are two brand-new Schwinn cruisers as well as three kayaks for your use. This home has it all!

Lots of outdoor space with covered and uncovered portions of deck with ceiling fan, adirondacks, table/chairs, grill and outdoor Bose speakers. Outdoor shower. More adirondacks at waters edge. A 300 foot dock with a large sitting area at the end juts into the cove from the property. Water remains shallow that far out!

About David Ouyang

We have been vacationing in Michigan for years, but after our first visit to the Leelanau Peninsula, we knew we had found the place where we wanted to buy our vacation home. Our kids (8 and younger) may be the only people who love the area and our home more than we do.

Home on the Bay

  • 5 of 5

Six of us (parents with adult children and partners) had a wonderful HOT week. One of the many amenities of this lovely cottage is air-conditioning, thank goodness! Clean, well designed, and aesthetically pleasing, this cottage had everything right down to a large blender (for ice cream drinks) to a large electric griddle for pancakes and French toast. We also enjoyed the paddle board and kayak. Next time for the bicycles!

Beautiful, like-new cottage in prime location, family friendly

  • 5 of 5

Our family has rented cottages in this area for 30+ years and we were looking for a clean, up-to-date cottage to rent in Suttons Bay, and especially on Lee Point Road, since their beaches have very gradual entry and shallow water, also calm for the little ones. This cottage was a real find! It has the king size bed, A/C and heat, and other amenities we appreciated and were looking for. It was very clean, and looks like a brand-new cottage! The decorations are beautiful and not crowded and the rooms are spacious with lots of bathrooms and two tubs. They have kayaks to use, bikes to borrow and the kitchen is well-stocked with basics and lots of serving ware. The deck gave us welcome shade to sit and enjoy the water during the day or in the evening. There are so, so many windows that even when I was preparing dinner, I could look out and watch the kids playing and enjoy the beach view. The proximity to the water is unusual for Lee Point Road, too. Many of the cottages seem to be across the road from their beaches, so this was extra special to have a cottage right next to the water. The beach was small this year but the kids had just enough sand to play in. We liked the detailed instructions Dave gave us, so we knew what to expect and what was expected of us. They even had a lot of ideas, maps and brochures for things to do in the area. Wonderful vacation!

Lovely house right on the bay

  • 5 of 5

This house was perfect for me and my family. We loved the kitchen and were able to cook great dinners with the local products. (There are great stores for food and wine nearby, but good restaurants in the area too.) The deck on the main floor is huge and has plenty of seating. The upstairs deck has a really pretty view and is also nice. The whole house was really pretty and super clean which is very important to me. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all good sized and comforable. The master bedroom with the large bathroom on the main floor was perfect for my elderly parents.

The absolute favorite thing about the house for my husband and me was listening to the waves from the water, which we could also hear in the upstairs bedroom at night.

The owner Dave was sooo helpful and easy to communicate with before, during and after our stay. My father left his phone and Dave made sure to send it back to him within days. This was a huge relief to all of us.

Great Family Friendly Home on Lake Michigan

  • 5 of 5

House was lovely and very kids friendly. We were 4 adults and 4 kids and there was plenty of room for all of us. The house was clean, the kitchen fully stocked and seeral bathrooms so no one had to wait. The owner arranged, for an extra fee, someone to come and clean every day. Her name is Peggy and she is a gem! She cleaned, made beds, took care of dishes and even cooked chicken for us! Dave, the owner, was super polite and responsive at all times. Also, the water is nice and shallow quite a ways out so the kids could swim and wade for a good distance.

The only negative was that the water level was a little high and so there was virtually no sandy beach in front of the house. The kids were a little dissapointed but the next door neighbor, who still had a sandy beach front, was kind enough to offer his beach for the kids use. I guess it's just part of living on the lake.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the note and happy you had a great stay. There was a record rise in the water level this past year which did decrease our beachfront. Our neighbor has always been generous to our guests to spillover onto his beach if you need more!

Best Vacation House

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredibly comfortable and relaxing vacation at "Lee Point Beach House". The owners are very prompt and responsive to questions during the reservation process and no detail at the house is overlooked. The property is new and well maintained and very nicely appointed. The kitchen is ready for any meal preparation you might want to take on. There are toys and games for younger kids; bikes, kayaks, and a rentable paddle board for the whole family. The furniture is nice, the house is elegantly decorated(absent of clutter) and the whole house is clean. (What a wonderful and rare feature in a vacation rental!) The back porch is perfect for star gazing and afternoon reading, and watching for wildlife. The yard is great for playtime when a break from the water is needed. The shore is ideal for wading and learning how to kayak, etc. as it is shallow for quite some distance. There is just enough sand for a beach campfire and digging for rocks. The water and views are beautiful, unique to the Leelanau Peninsula. I agree with an earlier reviewer: this home is a rare find.

PERFECT Northern Michigan family getaway

  • 5 of 5

This beach house was about as perfect as you could hope for our family. Five adults and three small children were extremely comfortable, and we could have added more.

The house is gorgeous both inside and out. Large and fully equipped kitchen was perfect for meals. More than enough bedroom and bathroom space, and all beautifully decorated. Our daughter LOVED the bunk beds and Legos.

It's really the outside and specifically the backyard, though, that makes this house so breathtaking. Nonstop gorgeous views of Grand Traverse Bay, a beach perfect for sand castles, and a beach firepit that we enjoyed just about every night with s'mores.

And the location on the south side of Suttons Bay is the perfect spot on the peninsula. Everything is easily accessible, and just about 15 minutes from downtown Traverse City.

Again, this is pretty much the perfect vacation house. Can't imagine going back to the Traverse City area and not staying here.

Go for a morning run along quiet Lee Point Road. It wraps along the bay and then into apple and cherry orchards. Use our bikes to take the TART trail up to Suttons Bay (4 miles) or Traverse City (12 miles). Take our kayaks for a sunrise or sunset paddle or rent our stand-up paddle board - the calm cove is a perfect place to learn! Make a fire and s'mores on the beach. Play and wade in the sand and water all day long! Visit Black Star Farms which is only 1 mile up the road or drive to any of the numerous other vineyards on the Peninsula. Try something different and hit Tandem Ciders artisan hard ciders or Hop Lot microbrewery just outside of Suttons Bay. Shop or eat in any of the numerous nearby quaint small towns. Day trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes and the Dune Climb. Don't forget to stop in Fishtown! Catch a fish at the narrows in Lake Leelanau or book a salmon charter out of Fishtown or Traverse City. Grab a drive-in movie with the kids. RELAX and read a book in our hammock.
