Nice location and home for gathering with our parents and daughter for Christmas. Appreciated having the space, view and clean accommodations. Enjoyed bird watching with our new binoculars - thanks for the bird feeders in your backyard.
My husband and I stayed a week at Joni's house in Penticton and were very comfortable in the house. Joni couldn't have been more helpful, allowing us early access and checking to make sure we were ok. It was comforting to know she was next door if we had any issues, though there were none, but she never intruded. Penticton was new to us and we really enjoyed the town, especially the lovely walk along the lake. As others have mentioned the house is a little way up the hill, but it is walkable into the town and after a few days it becomes easier as one gets used to it. We were lucky enough to spot deer several times on the way up from the town and even an otter swimming in the lake. Joni recommended a couple of good places to eat, but there are many places of differing types within the town so that I am sure most would find somewhere to satisfy their needs. The kitchen would appear to be well-equipped if one wanted to cook in. We chose to eat out. If we were to return to Penticton or nearby we wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
The home was well equipped with everything we needed. Very nice deck overlooking the lake with a nice bbq. We cooked a number of meals while we were there and sat on the deck enjoying the view. Overall a very nice stay and it was great to come back to a comfortable home.
We really enjoyed our stay mom dad grandma two kids and a friend. Our son attended oakanagan hockey school and had a great time. house was perfect size with all amenities and very quiet And just nice relaxing time. Cooked all meals at home with barbeque and full cookware thanks for the great time
There were some positives and negatives with the this property. First, the positives: Joni, the owner was very nice and helpful, one time my kids locked themselves outside the house and Joni came and let them in. The location was perfect, just up the hill from the Lake Okanagan and also at the start of the road to Naramata. This was wonderful for both access to the beach and strip and also for visiting wineries and also for bike rides to Naramata! The house was clean when we arrived. The cafe just across the street was perfect!
Now, the negatives: Joni, the owner lives next door. This makes it very convenient for her but it's a little weird for us as house guests. She was never around or watching at all but it is still a little uncomfortable. Because of its locations, this house is not cheap to rent, especially during high season, (we rented it August 13-20, during high season). We feel that for what we were charged, the house is not quite what we expected. It is dated, it needs work. The amenities are dated. The bed sheets are old, the dishes are few, the furniture is dated. The chairs outside are worn and some broken...etc. It left the impression that we were being supplied the bare minimum, very average furnishings and quite possibly a miss match of hand me downs. I just expect more for this cost. I think if Joni spent some money on new items, some updates to the house and more of everything for the guests to use then it would be worth the high price of the rental. We went away feeling just ok with the rental and felt overcharged for what we received.
I honestly think that if Joni were to live in the house herself for a few days, she would see these deficiencies.
Our stay here was great. The view from the deck was peaceful and enjoyable. The air conditioning was great in the hot summer heat. I would say the walk to the beach is a bit more than three minutes but it is still close. The Bench cafe down the block was great for food and the house is very close to the Naramata wineries. Being up the hill a bit felt a little bit isolated from the activities in town but it is walkable and peaceful. Deer even wonder into the back yard in the evenings.
We enjoyed our time here.
Great location, very clean, & great layout. Our family really enjoyed our time spent here. Walking distance to beach and all amenities. Valuable garage space for bikes and kids gear. Highly recommend this unit.
As you drive up Vancouver Ave., you will see a house number 503. Dont think you have gone by your house (#499) It is just past the 503 sign. A sage green house.
