Robin and Sim are lifelong artists, avid gardeners, and outdoor enthusiasts. In 2012 they retired from nearly 20 years of owning a retail art supply store in Santa Rosa. In addition to Parkside Cottage, they now own an art gallery in Santa Rosa, Chroma Gallery at 312 South A Street, Santa Rosa. http://chromagallery.net/
Sim teaches art classes and workshops at the gallery, and both enjoy working in their extensive organic garden, or hiking, biking & kayaking in nearby Spring Lake and Annadel Parks.
Sim is a native of Chicago, but after living in Sonoma County since the '70's he qualifies as a native. Robin is a native Californian hailing from the Monterey Peninsula, and has also lived in Sonoma County since the '70's.
Since 1994, they have been the careful stewards of their charming 1 acre property and are delighted to share it with visitors.

The location of our property lets us enjoy a natural setting while being close to town, which cuts down on the time spent driving. At home, with the sounds of the creek, the birds, and the closeness of the park, we always feel 'away from it all.'
Staying here was my much needed vacation. With the sounds of the creek, the turkeys gobbling, and peaceful breezes, it quieted my soul. With the lake trail just down the street, it energized my body. With the lovely porch to sit and read, it nourished my mind. What could be better? Fresh lemons, beautiful art, and a friendly cat maybe, but those were all included, too. I loved this delightful spot where I enjoyed the beautiful gardens that they tended. As Goldilocks said, "This is just right." Many thanks for a wonderful private retreat in a beautiful part of California.
We stayed for three nights, and my parents live at SLV so it was very convenient! Robin provided us with fresh eggs and coffee. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds, and the full running creek on the property (yay for all the rain!!) We loved seeing all chickens, wild turkeys and visits from their kitty cat. We will for sure stay there when we come back again.
We were extremely pleased with the owners as well as the accommodations at the Parkside Cottage. The cottage was very clean and comfortable - especially the bed! It had everything needed to cook and dine in. A very convenient location as well. It was close to shopping but away from the busyness and very quiet especially at night. The Park across the street was a nice place to walk and relax next to the lake. Robin and Sim made sure we had everything we needed while we were there. They were very respectful of our privacy as well as being very approachable when something was needed. Prior to arriving, Robin sent us a ton of excellent information about the areas we were interested in seeing nearby. The suggested driving tours she had written out were spot-on. We would highly recommend a stay at the Parkside Cottage. Thank you Robin and Sim for a great experience! Tim & Dorothy Northfield, Vermont
Robin and Simmon were amazing hosts; respectful, friendly, interesting, creative people. The cottage is small but perfectly appointed. A full working kitchen with just the things you'd need and tons of thoughtful details taken care of. A small rack of area guides, a binder full of handpicked local menus, a drawerful of good DVDs. Even despite the chilly weather my lady and I were drawn to the picnic table and chairs set to overlook lovely Santa Rosa Creek behind the cottage. Walking distance from a great park, a 15-20 min drive from some spectacular natural areas. Thank you!!!
My husband and I stayed here for three days. The cottage and its property were wonderful, and the location was perfect -- close to wineries and restaurants, but away from the commercial hubbub. There is a creek in the back of the property that was relaxing to sit by at the end of the day -- we watched squirrels chasing each other from tree to tree while sipping on some wine from one of the many wineries close by -- very serene.
Robin was a great host, and gave us some ideas of places to visit. She provided fresh farm eggs from her chickens, and invited us to pick some fresh basil and produce from her garden for breakfast. The cottage has a helpful menu book of local restaurants that she put together, which includes notations of her favorites -- we found this very helpful!
The cottage was very comfortable -- perfect size for the two of us, and equipped with everything we needed. I would absolutely stay here again.
Even though Robin's studio was outside the city proper, it was close to all amenities and the city was easily accessible. The studio was comfy and well equipped, and Robin was welcoming. Quiet nights and a comfortable bed led to good nights' sleep. Enjoyed the privacy and country setting.
