Tom is a consultant after retiring from a utility company. Karen is a retired nurse. We both have enjoyed our business in Harbert called Millie's Antiques. Tom did the renovation for the shop that is adjacent to Yellow House Vacation Rental. Tom can fix anything! We both love to travel and rent properties or stay in B&Bs. We love our grandchildren and children very much and are so proud of them all.
The Owner purchased this house in 2007
We were weekend visitors at first. We fell in love with Harbert the first time we saw the cottage we bought. We have lived in Harbert for about 8 years. We bought the rental property to bring pleasure to others staying in Harbor Country. We have enjoyed rehabbing it and making it cozy just like our own home around the corner.
The friendliness of those who live and work in Harbert make this town a welcoming place to visit. The beautiful beaches and nature at it's finest make Harbert one of a kind. The nice thing about Yellow House Vacation Rental is that there is no middle man. If there is a problem or concern you can call and we'll be over in a jiffy to address the issue. Remember Tom can fix anything! We feel responsible for you while you are renting from us and we want your visit to be your best week end or vacation ever.
The little yellow house rental was delightful. So clean and well kept. We enjoyed access to Cherry Beach and loved the location for all activities. Tom and Karen are extremely helpful and pleasant to work with. having the washer and dryer was a huge plus. We did not hear a lot of traffic on Red Arrow Hwy. which surprised us. I recommend this rental to anyone who would want a nice, clean, quiet stay in a fun fantastic location. How could you not be happy in Michigan?
We have stayed in many rentals thru the years, and this was by far the most accommodating and well supplied! Tom and Karen are the sweetest hosts! I have learned thru the years to bring lots of extras if we want it to feel like home because rentals don't supply a lot of items. However, they have put so much thought into this rental that we didn't need or use many of the items we brought! The house is cute with plenty of space for the four of us and it was immaculate! We loved the yard, fire pit, and patio. The location was perfect for all sorts of activities in the area. We decided to visit several beaches in the area this year, from the smallest to the largest, and it was so much fun! We loved shopping at Aunt Millie's next door and visiting with Tom and Karen! We would rent again with excitement! Thanks so much for helping to make our stay amazing!
My wife and I stayed here and had a wonderful week. First of all, the town of Harbert is a very relaxing, laid back, small, quiet town. The Yellow House is located in the Heart of this beautiful town. If you would like a morning pastry, a nice breakfast or lunch, then you're in for a treat. The incredible Harbert Swedish Bakery is a 5 minute walk or less from the house. Luisa's Café is attached to the bakery that serves a wonderful breakfast or lunch. Now, just about 2 minutes or less south of the Bakery is Capozio's Italian restaurant. We have to say, this place is hard to beat for their red meat sauce! We enjoyed the spacious yard, barbecuing, and eating out on the nice patio. The nice Harbert Beach is a short walk from the house. Cherry Beach, another beach which is only about a 2 minute drive or so from the house has a nice lookout to sit at for sunset pictures, in addition to the nice beach. There are also many other beaches to choose from, like the big Warren Sand Dume State Park only about a 5-7 minute drive north of the House. If hiking and running down big sand dumes is on the list, that's the place to go. Kayaking off the Galien River is another fun event we did. Just a short drive towards New Buffalo (less than a 10 minute drive), there is a kayak rental on the Galien River right off Red Arrow Highway. The River is completely lazy so, its a great place for a family outing with nice scenery. If one wants to spend a day in Chicago museums without having to drive, there is a train station off Carroll Ave. about a 15 minute drive or so south of the House. The train will drop you off right on museum campus! Karen and Tom have a very nice, clean, accommodating house, and will be there for anything you need. We will be back again! Thank you!
My husband, father and I have stayed at the Yellow House Rental on 4 occasions in the last 4 years. We love how CLEAN the house is and the wonderful amenities (bar-b-q, patio, fully equipped kitchen etc. The two bedroom layout and modern bathroom are perfect for a small group. The location is great for getting to major highways and the local beach. Karen and Tom (owners) are so friendly and helpful and make you feel right at home! They are happy to help you locate the areas many attractions, restaurant's, and shopping. We have already booked for 2014!!
Our family of 4 just got back from our little getaway to Michigan. Our cottage was very charming, clean & met our expectations. The listing photos & description were exactly as they were when we arrived. The property was awesome with a massive yard & pond in the back yard. Even though it was on the main road, it was nice & quiet with no neighbors close by. It was also the perfect location to get to all the towns along the Lake not to mention the antique shops, markets & restaurants. Harbert Beach was across the street & was beautiful. If you have a lot to take to the beach such as a cooler, chairs, etc.. get there early as there are only a few parking spots. There are also more beaches close by, so there are many to choose from! The owners of the property were very friendly & had everything that we needed. We would highly recommend this rental!
The place was darling. Everything about the place was immculate. We had a nice amount of room and loved the yard space. Tom and Karen went out of their way to take care of us. Beaches are beautiful . Would be back there now if I had the time.
