Recently Renovated in Typical Alpujarran Style, Spacious & Secluded, Sleeps 6

The farmhouse is situated in the southern foothills of the Sierra Nevada, known as the Alpujarras, close to the market town of Orgiva. The property is set within its own landscaped gardens and the mountain views over the Rio Guadalfeo valley are stunning. The original farmhouse is over 100 years old. It has been renovated to a high standard keeping the original Andalucian features. You have plenty of living space and double doors that open onto several terraces so you can enjoy both the morning and evening sun. The entrance porch and patio captures the early morning sun and is a good place to have breakfast. The property benefits from hot / cold air conditioning in the living area and 2 of the bedrooms. Additionally there are 2 efficient wood burning stoves for use in the winter months. The pool is large 14m x 5m with a terraced area to one end and is available between the months of May & September (weather permitting).

Further Details: This is ideal walking & mountain biking territory & from your door you have access to a footpath which links the higher mountain towns should you want the challenge.

The water supply comes from a private spring and we recommend buying bottled water for drinking & cooking. Water can be obtained at no cost from treated springs in the nearby spa town of Lanjaron.

The house is located on the Tijola road approximately 7 kilometers (or 6 on foot) from the town of Orgiva. The last kilometer of the approach is on an unmade-up road, which is passable in a normal car.

Booking Notes: Booking is direct with owner & confirmed once a 25% deposit has been paid. The balance is payable 4 weeks prior to departure. The changeover day is Saturday although there is some flexibility outside the main season.

Stunning!

We had a marvellous week here. The property is fantastic, the web photo's don't do it justice. Plenty of walking to be done in the area and then a wonderful pool area to chill out in. Will definitely be back.

Wonderful property , full of character on the outskirts of Orgiva.

Great holiday in March. Cortijo was nice and warm, once it was sorted out. Owner, Valerie was very helpful in this. Walking excellent from the door and the location of the farmhouse could not be better. Very peaceful and relaxing.

A cosy nest up in the Alpujarras

I you think you can't relax in a mere one week time, then try this place. Breathtaking view on the Sierra Nevada (Alpujarras), extra calm, cosy, 50 minutes from Grenada, 1h from the beach (Nerja), fantastic for hiking, all equiped... I've spent one week with my wife and baby (<1 year), and we all very reluctantly left this place. The home is vast, well furnished and clean, and even has two terraces: one south oriented for breakfast, one south-west oriented for lunch and dinner. Valerie's indications to reach the place are very clear and she's extremly helpful. You need a car to get there and visit around. I definitely recommend this "farmhouse"!

Away From it All

Our family have just returned from holiday here. We had a wonderful week experiencing the real Spain. If you liked "Driving Over Lemons" by Chris Stewart you'll love this place. Peaceful and beautiful. Be prepared for an exhilarating drive up the mountain to get to this property but you will be rewarded when you get there. We travelled with a 6 and 9 year old. We like to get off the beaten track to explore, so this property was perfect. The house is very clean and spacious and Valerie was very helpful with instructions, directions and advice. There are lots of destinations you can travel to from here- Granada, Trevelez, Almunecar- all within an hour. Or you can simply stay in this little piece of heaven. Thank you for an unforgettable holiday!

Beautiful house in beautiful region of Spain

After two fantastic holidays here we can definitely recommend this property as the perfect place to stay if you want to explore this lovely part of Spain.

The house is really well presented with plenty of room to spare and fantastic views up the valley towards Orgiva; best enjoyed on the balcony with a sun downer!

Orgiva itself is a 'proper' little town offering the opportunity to sample real Spain, not the plasticised version of it; on Thursdays the market there is well worth a visit.

There is lots of good walking and mountain biking on the doorstep and we really enjoyed exploring the white villages for which the area is well known. These can equally well be explored by car if you do not fancy walking or cycling.

We will definitely be returning.

Due to an unguarded pool area & surrounding land which drops away quite steeply we do not recommend the property for children under 5 years old. Although single storey there are steps up & down, both within & between rooms. The house is therefore not recommended for anyone with walking difficulties. Pool season is May to October.
