Watch the sunrise unfold over the very end of Long Island. Watch the blue waters of Orient Harbor and Gardiners Bay change colors as the day wakes up. 180 degree views afford you a look across Shelter Island, Bug Light and Orient Harbor. Look out on all of this from the open kitchen/ dining/ living area. Or, if you like the no roof version, step outside on to the front deck and settle in to an adirondack chair or the sand itself. And if that isn't enough take one of the 3 kayaks down the beach steps to get the 360 degree water view.
East Marion was also called Oysterponds because of the abundant shellfish it provided. It is located right in between the historic villages of Orient and Greenport. Both are perfect excursions if you can be pried away from the water. As are the vineyards and local farms located throughout. Islands End Golf Course is less than a mile away as well. The long beautifully scenic stretches of road make the east end a cyclists dream.

I have been coming out to the Nortfork most of my life. For me there is not much that compares to its beauty and low key style of life. I am also co founder of the Greenport Harbor Brewery located a few miles away. And yes, a free beer is on the house.
The Owner purchased this cottage in 1999
Step out on to the front deck and you will know.
Swimming, biking, boating, clamming, fishing, sitting.
This is the second year I have stayed at the East Marion Bayfront Cottage, and I am already looking forward to next summer. Walking into the cottage on our first day, it was sparkling clean, the windows were open and letting in a fresh breeze from the water... all so very welcoming and comfortable.
This house sits right on the water. You cannot get closer to it, where you can swim, kayak, fish, and explore. In the evenings, just sitting on the deck is restful, with a landscape that offers nature and water activity. We bring binoculars to look at the birds, Bug Lighthouse, Shelter Island, and the various watercraft that cruise in and out of Greenport Harbor.
This is an ideal place for families and adults. The bay offers easy swimming for young ones. The location is safe, yet within walking distance of the Jitney. It is very close to Greenport, where adults (and children) find a surfeit of choices in food, shopping, and activity, in every price range. My children love the marina, with its high-end yachts, 1938 firefighting boat, carousel, and ice cream shops. We order the fried chicken from Salamander's, or stop at Southold Fish Market for their incredibly delicious chowder and unparalleled fresh fish. Adults enjoy the higher-end restaurants, or watching the herons roost in the trees of Marion Lake, boating, or the North Fork wine trail.
The cottage itself is charming. It is decorated in a clean beach style, without any pretense but with a gentle eye toward design. It is comfortable, and --most importantly-- there is absolutely no "ick-factor" that one can find in a summer rental. Aesthetically, is pleasing. Functionally, it is just right. There is a spacious outdoor shower, many windows to let in the breeze and sound of the bay, and two single-person kayaks. There is parking for two cars, a comfortable kitchen, two half-baths (in-suite) and one full bathroom. There are window air-conditioning units in each bedroom, and ceiling fans everywhere. It is a small space, but for six people (including two children) it is never cramped. There is far too much outdoor space to ever feel tight, and the layout is very functional. My family has enjoyed many meals at the dining table in the water-front sitting room or at the table outside.
The owner is professional, friendly, and extremely responsive. I consider myself very lucky to have found such a spot, and I know my children will grow up with warm memories of our summers spent in this house.
This little house on Orient Harbor is the perfect spot. The owner was very responsive when I had a question about something in the house. It is a peaceful place to just unwind and the sunrises are beautiful ! Very well equipt and clean . Would definately reccomend this little house on the harbor !
We love this little house! What a perfect spot. Spent the 4th of July week here – 3 couples – had an amazing week!
The location is perfect – bay front, on a quiet street, with easy access to everything you need in Greenport and an easy bike ride to the oyster ponds and Orient. The house is great – the pictures don’t do it justice! It’s simple and clean and comfortable with 3 real bedrooms, 2 half baths attached to two bedrooms and one full bathroom (the outdoor shower is so nice, we never even used the inside one.) The kitchen is rustic, but has a great stove and counter space. We cooked for 11 people one night and it was great. In the area, recommend heading down to orient state park for a bike ride, checking out the historic village of orient, the brewery in Greenport, and some of the wineries (we liked One Woman), and shopping at the local farm stands.
Left the best part for last – the back yard! There is a huge deck and a large sand area and then a few steps down to the water. We were out there day and night. It couldn’t be nicer! Grab a growler at the brewery; pull up one of the Adirondack chairs; watch the swans that swim by every night. You will fully enjoy your time at this house.
We had a fantastic week staying at this East Marion Beach House. The house was neat and clean and well maintained and very comfortably housed our family of four--2 half baths, one full bath together with an outdoor shower were a definite plus for our family. The home is literally right on the water and has truly spectacular views of the bay, Shelter Island and Bug lighthouse. The owner was very accomodating and responsive to our inquiries, and also made available 3 kayaks kept at the property. In all--a really great place to stay.
Located a few short miles from Greenport. Home to Claudios, Mitchell Park merry-go-round, and the Greenport Harbor Brewery.
