The Blue House, is a pretty 4 bed cottage, in its own private garden of 2 acres. The house has been completely refurbished. It has fabulous sea views over the Western Solent with a woodland walk down to the beach. It has been featured in Coast magazine.
Located in the village of Gurnard on the Isle of Wight 'The Blue House' has four bedrooms overlooking the garden, a large contemporary living area with vaulted ceiling with a glass and Oak gable looking directly over the sea, and a wrap around deck with fabulous views over to the New Forest and the famous sunset.
The bedrooms all feature luxurious beds with cotton sheets and all natural feather and goose down duvets and pillows, the master bedroom has a large en suite bathroom and glass doors that open on to the deck and the romantic sea view.
The 'big' room has a spacious kitchen and large sitting room with a log fire.
The house is completely private and totally secluded, yet within walking distance of a great pub and shops. Single level makes it ideal for people with limited mobility as well.

A hearty thanks from Elaine and myself............ The Blue House proved to be an excellent place to stay. You have done a great job in remodelling the place and I am sure you will enjoy full bookings for many seasons to come.

We stayed at The Blue House for a family birthday and Christmas, and it was the perfect location for us. The views of the Solent from the living room and bedrooms, the well-appointed kitchen and large table, and the comfortable furnishings made for a relaxed and welcoming stay. Tim was also very helpful in pointing us in the direction of the fabulous Little Gloster restaurant down the hill, where we held our birthday celebrations, and even organised a Christmas tree for us. I cannot fault the house or its location. It is near enough to Cowes or Newport to get any provisions, but with its large secluded gardens, you could be a million miles from the hustle and bustle.
Thank you Tim, we look forward to coming again sometime soon, perhaps to explore the island in the summer.
This was our second stay at the house. It has everything you could possibly want. We were relieved when it rained because we could stay in; relax and cook. The kitchen is better equipped than home and the design is perfect for lounging about in plenty of space. I'm sure there's loads to explore on the island but you don't need to! The path down to the beach from the garden looks after any restless people or dogs. Just brilliant.
We have had the most wonderful week at this amazing cottage! This was the perfect location for two families with four small children between us (aged 2-5 years). The garden is large and felt secure for the kids to run around in (once we explained they couldn't go down the path to the beach without us), while the grown ups relaxed and enjoyed the wonderful sea view! The trampoline especially was a huge hit! The cottage is well laid out, fully equipped (the dishwasher and washing machine make light work) and feels like a home from home. Great to be within walking distance of one of the isle of wights best restaurants (the little gloster). Thanks so much, we will definitely be back!!!
We stayed with a family group ages 85 to 4 years and the house was perfect for everyone. The kids loved the garden, trampoline and the magical woodland path to the beach. The adults loved the house style, decor, layout and location of the house. We walked the the little gloster restaurant and had a fantastic meal, there are also 2 pubs within walking distance. All we needed from a holiday house.
With the Blue House you get space, comfortable beds, an easy access shower, and the house is exactly as described. Our family holiday was part change of scenery for the house-bound and part respite for those who care. It delivered on both counts. The location is quiet but not isolated. Walks from the house were loved by the dog and included the necessary inclines for those eating cream teas. A local shop is a short, easy walk away, with plenty of other shops in Cowes (30 minute walk or 5 minutes by car). The garden is large with great views across the western Solent, which provided lots of changing scenery for those who could not venture far. The binoculars provided in the house were well used - thank you! It was our first visit to the house and we were delighted to find a new large garden table with sturdy chairs. From early morning cups of tea, to dinner as the sun set, it is a great addition to the very, very large decking area. It worked well for those using walking frames, walking sticks, and crutches. Tim offered to put a ramp in place for the two shallow steps in the house (from hall to bedrooms/bathrooms) but we did not need that facility. We were an aged party but I think it would make a great base for an energetic family. I recommend a sense of adventure if heading down to the beach via the steps in the garden. Wish I was 13 again....
We chose to leave on an evening car ferry from Fishbourne, which should take 40 minutes via Newport. Traffic in Newport is heavy at rush hour so we headed down to Cowes and took the chain ferry across to East Cowes. Only costs £2.20 and definitely saved time. Go that way to visit Osborne House or head east across the Island. The Taverners pub in Godshill has great food, easy access, and welcomes dogs/children.
Tim, thank you for your prompt email replies. Definitely a good destination for extended family and the pet dog!
The village of Gurnard is right next to the famous yachting centre of Cowes. The popular Gurnard Sailing Club is two minutes walk away. Local facilities include; pubs, paper shops and a greengrocer. The island is a great place for visitors especially children with a wealth of activities including: cycling, walking, windsurfing, sailing, tennis and numerous attractions and activity centres.
We can arrange yacht charters, rib rides, fishing trips and even parascending. You name it and the island probably does it.
For walkers there are hundreds of spectacular walks across downland and headland, bridleways criss cross the island.
A short walk down through your private wood takes you to your beach, great for evening swims, bar-b-Q's, fishing or just watching the sun go down with a beer in your hand.
For wildlife enthusiasts the garden is a haven for Red Squirrel, badgers, foxes, woodpeckers and numerous other birds.
