Overview

About the property

Farmhouse, 5 Bedrooms + Other (See Description), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 8-12)

This 30 acre, private property sits in a combination of a wooded and meadow setting with the Stillwater River 100 yards from the back door. It was set up for the active, outdoor, lifestyle dream. The house itself is over 3800 square feet with a recently added game room of 800 square feet with pool table, fooz ball and a flat screen tv for movies. The house is an all tile main floor with wood stove as well as radiant heating in the floor. The upper floor is all carpeted and all the bedrooms are on the upper floor.

If floating, fishing and swimming are your preference you can stroll down to the river from the house to the Stillwater River on the back of the property. There is a great 2 - 3 hour (depending on water levels) float to an easy take out spot down the road. There are no rapids on this portion of the Stillwater River, it moves at a nice floating pace, ideal for children and fishing. Stop for a picnic on one of the many sandbars or try your luck on the mud sliding bank (you won't miss this, it is a popular feature).

For motorcyclists there is access to State lands and Forest Service roads for miles of riding right off the property.

If mountain biking is more your speed, you can head over the highway and ride onto the Lupfer Loop section of the Whitefish Trail system. There are also three rock climbing areas near by.

Spend the day at Glacier Park and the evening at the Whitefish Farmers Market (tuesday nights on central avenue) and then home to relax in the quiet surroundings of the property.

The property sits 13 miles North of downtown Whitefish. The Stillwater Lake and Bar are 3 miles further North from the property for fishing and jet skiing.

Keywords: Serene, private, horses, horse, riverfront, motorcycles, hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, near state land access, pet friendly, great for families with children or a romantic getaway, Glacier National Park, Whitefish, Whitefish Mountain Resort, Whitefish Lake, Tally Lake, Stillwater Lake.

** August 2013 - We have an AT&T cell service booster at the house which we can add your phone number too if you have a smart phone (flip phones do not work with the booster) and are an AT&T customer. This will provide full service in the house. Unfortunately if you use Verizon they recently lost a tower agreement and do not have service anymore at our property. This is very recent and I would call your provider before visiting if cell service is imperative to your visit. We do have a laptop for use at the house but do not have a land line.

** SUMMER BOOKINGS - JULY AND AUGUST **

We have a 7 night minimum stay required, 5 nights will be considered based on current reserved dates

**HOLIDAY BOOKING**

We ask that you book either for Xmas or New Years or both but there is a 7 day minimum over each holiday so both holidays would require a 14 night stay.

Why David Crow chose Whitefish

This property had the space, the privacy and proximity to both town, the river, biking and rock climbing that appealed to David. He developed it originally as his main residence before turning it into a retreat.

What makes this farmhouse unique

The Stillwater River floats across the back of the property but is only 200 yards from the house. It is great for floating, the meadows and wooded area are the perfect setting to relax after a day of playing outdoors. The house has an open plan with high ceilings that give a great sense of space and is very comfortable.

Great for kids!

  • 5 of 5

All four families were comfortable staying here, but the kids were the ones who had the best time. Big hits: the "tree" to climb to the small bedrooms, games galore (indoor and outdoor), the river (for inner tubing and fishing), and the stagecoach for sleeping/playing in.

Great place for a family reunion!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful, peaceful setting and home. Location allows for privacy, but is close to Whitefish and lake. Only surprise was trains close by blowing their horns. Would love to come stay again!

Doing nothing feels good.

  • 5 of 5

This is our 2nd trip to this property. When we pulled up to the property it was like seeing an old friend! We had a great time with all 10 of us! Going to zipline, walking around Whitefish, kids swimming in the creek, playing pool and foosball and best of all was Unplugging and doing NOTHING! This place is GREAT and I would recommend it to anyone!!! It was nice to just sit outside in the yard and listen to nature. We saw a bear, deer and even a moose with her calf.

OUTSTANDING PLACE for a family vacation!!

A great Montana experience!

  • 5 of 5

Thanks, David and Bonnie, for being the hosts with the mostest! We had a great time staying in your farmhouse. Enjoyed the access to the river, the peace and quiet, sitting on the driveway in the evenings enjoying the cool air, seeing the deer in the front yard! As there were nine of us, having two washers and dryers was also very convenient. And the kids loved the climbing pole which I dubbed the monkey pole. Lots of room in the living room for all of us--we never felt crowded at all. A perfect Montana experience!

Excellent for a family vacation!

  • 5 of 5

Our crew of 9 visited Montana for the first time and found everything we needed in this home. We had one of our most memorable vacations here! The owner was so helpful and accommodating. The home is spacious and provides many activities on the property. We really enjoyed the river and games on the lawn. The location was ideal for quiet and seclusion, but so close to many fun adventures and activities! Our group ranged from ages 2 - 64 and all had a super time. It was hard to leave and we can't wait to go back one day!

Best Vacation House Ever!!

  • 5 of 5

Coming from Florida to Montana we reviewed a lot of houses on line before deciding on this property. To our delight-the house exceeded our expectations! The description of the house and the pictures did not reflect how beautiful this house and the property truly is! The house is larger than it appears. It is actually 3 stories tall when you factor in the middle level with the lower roof line for the kids. There is a 'tunnel' done in chalk paint between the bedrooms with a secret door that my kids could not get enough of. The 'tree' in the middle of the room where they could climb up to their bedrooms was an extra bonus.

The game room with the pool table and foosball table was put to full use.

All the rooms are spacious and the beds were extremely comfortable. There are 2 sets of washers and dryers for your use. Linens, towels, and basic necessities are all there-just bring your own food.

We had deer visit us in the front yard and back yard every day.

My husband caught many trout in the river on the property as well.

The city of Whitefish is beautiful and the people are very accommodating.

David was very hands on and showed us around the place upon our arrival and then was available at any time we had a question.

I will look forward to visiting Montana again and hopefully will have another chance to stay at this exquisite house again!

Thank you David and Bonnie!

Owner's Response: Tracy and Larry Thanks for the kind words. It was such a pleasure to meet both of you and the kids, I feel like we have made new friends that we will hopefully see again. It is nice to see a family enjoy their vacation as much as yours did. David and Bonnie
