This was a beautiful, well stocked, lovely home perfectly located a short walk from the beaches. While we didn't have our kids this time, we were imagining how much they would love it. From the wagons to the tree house to the legos there are many little treats our young ones would enjoy. The house was warm and cozy and we loved sitting around the fire, cooking food and drinking wine. We had a memorable Thanksgiving when power went out on the whole island and we ended up making the entire meal on the grill. Loved staying here and would love to come back again! Thanks so much.
The directions from the ferry to the Wren's Nest were excellent. We found ourselves greeted by a sweet house nestled in the woods at the south end of Lopez. I cannot say enough about the home. From first glimpse we fell in love with it's charm and unique character. We spent many hours in the sitting room at the back of the house talking - eating and enjoying the quiet and serenity of this beautiful place. The Wren's Nest is about 15 minutes from the village. We came to Lopez to enjoy the serenity and the breath taking views, so I was pleased to find that we were close to Shark's reef - Agate Beach - Ice Berg point and Watmau. And with glimpses of McKay Harbor from the deck I thought I was in heaven. Thank you for opening your home and I will be sure to return. In fact thinking about this coming spring.
This is a charming house in the woods with a modest view of the water and a lovely private beach a short walk away. There is a very friendly community living my on this part of the island and We felt welcomed. Friends from Seattle were succesful in catching crab for our last dinner and it was amazing crab. Crab licenses are easy to obtain and the folding crab trap will return for more crabbing in the years ahead.
We have rented houses on Lopez for twenty years and this one has something special about it. I think it's all the loving detail of the wall colors, the fireplace in view of the large kitchen, the hearty geraniums surrounding the porch, the deer coming in to investigate the garden, the deck off the master bedroom, the lovely oriental rugs on the tile floors. We felt comfortable and we had a wonderful time cooking for friends and family. My family rented a much more modern house on the other side of the island and preferred Wren's House. There's everything you need for a memorable stay on Lopez.
Quaint comfy friendly home and lovely yard. Comfortable beds and great kitchen.
We had such a wonderful summer holiday at the Wren's Nest! A lovely home in a quiet nook on the beautiful south end of Lopez Island. "Our" Aleck Beach was a great place to play every day and we enjoyed the close proximity to Watmough Bay, Iceberg Point and Shark Reef Sanctuary, our favorite spots on the island. The house is outfitted wonderfully for a family with young kids and had everything we needed, plus charm. We enjoyed mornings on the deck and the kids played Sorry in the treehouse. I loved the butterfly garden and we spent a lot of time in the communal kitchen making feasts with the local meats, fish and produce from the island. Many thanks for a wonderful stay. We hope to return to the Wren's Nest another summer!
We were on Lopez for The Retreat. What a wonderful island and the people are so friendly. To be surrounded by such beauty everyday must be a wonderful thing! We mastered the "Lopezian wave" by the time we departed! This home is in a peaceful location in the woods with a peek-a-boo view of the bay from the relaxing master bedroom balcony. We were charmed by all the antique furnishings and finishes. The large open kitchen/dining area was perfect for card games while prepping meals. This location is far enough from the "hustle" of the village yet close enough to enjoy its wonderful restaurants and shops. I would definately stay here again, and bring my grandkids next time.
