Artful 4-Bedroom Custom Home on Scenic 18 Acre Farm 20 Min from Downtown Austin
About Nancy Hill
We found this property in 1991 and began developing a master plan than would include a comfortable custom home on a horse farm. From choosing where the driveway would cross the creek to selecting the rock for home, we spent two years designing and building. My husband, Jimmy, and I have an ad agency and graphic design company that we have run from home since 1976. We've been married for 40 years, have four wonderful grown children and seven amazing grandkids. Jimmy has created the art in the Hill House - both paintings and sculpture. The Hill House has had many, many guests over the past years and been home to many great family and guest events. Everyone falls in love with this secluded hill country setting that is just minutes from downtown. We look forward to welcoming you to the Hill House Austin and to making sure your stay is an incredible experience that always exceeds your expectations.

Why Nancy Hill chose South Austin
The first time we walked this property, we fell in love with it. Bear Creek crosses the front of the property, and Spring Hollow Creek crosses the back - creating a peninsula, a retreat bounded by spring fed water borders. Interestingly, our front porch has a great view of "Friday Mountain," that was home to a summer kid's camp when my husband was growing up in Austin. In the sixth grade, Jimmy spent a week at "Friday Mountain Camp." Even as a kid, Jimmy fell in love with this property... and now the house is right next door. For us, it adds special meaning. This land next door was also home to the first university west of the Mississippi, The Johnson Institute. We chose this property because it was exactly what we were looking for. We built the house, the farm and the art studio with extreme care and attention to detail.

Unique and memorable stay
Our son was getting married in Dripping Springs and this home was wonderful place to stay. It also served as an ideal location to hold a rehearsal lunch and have friends and family over the night before the wedding. It's a relaxing environment where you wakeup in the morning to a horse and a couple of donkeys grazing outside your kitchen window. There was even a peacock that would come to visit! The large porch/patio in the back was a great place to hold the rehearsal lunch since the church was unavailable that day. The house has many unique features including Texas style custom railings that match the large dining room table, fireplace mantle and other pieces in the house. Nancy was an excellent and attentive host who lives in a neighboring house on the property. WIFI was fast and the kitchen was well stocked. We spent a long time looking for the right place to stay for the wedding and I'm happy to report we found it! Thanks for hosting us Nancy and we'd love to come back sometime.
I am not sure how to put into words the beauty of this home and location. Whether inside the gorgeous house or out on the property we were surrounded by tranquility. We all enjoyed walking around the home and seeing the artwork. We spent a great deal of time sitting on the back deck listening to the creek or relaxing by the fire pit.
Nancy, the property owner was very accommodating; showing us the property and introducing us to the charming animals that wandered about freely. **Side note for any who may be apprehensive about animals; they were all friendly without being annoying.**
The kitchen is set up so that multiple people can cook together, with everything you might need. The beds are comfy and the home is CLEAN! It is obvious that these owners take a great deal of pride in keeping their property top-notch.
Evenings outdoors are beautiful and we were not bothered at all by mosquitoes.
We are looking forward to another long weekend!
(added bonus - If you do not feel like cooking, Salt Grass BBQ is only a few miles away and has amazing ribs, sausage, and brisket! )
Loved Our Wedding Here!!
We loved the Hill House for our small backyard wedding. Our family from out of town stayed at the property and we had a beautiful ceremony on the deck in the backyard. The greenery, landscaping, and ranch animal friends made this the perfect location for us. The owners were more than welcoming and very helpful with any questions or request we had. They made sure we had a great wedding and I am happy they shared this place with us. The downstairs bedroom made for the perfect bridal suite! Plenty of room for parking for our guest too!
Home Away From Home
My family stayed in Dripping Springs to celebrate my son's wedding. We wanted somewhere that we could escape the tension that inevitably comes with years of planning a wedding, high expectations of the event, and the blending of families that occur when two people commit their lives to each other. What a blessing it was to find Nancy's property and home! It was our reprieve from all of the scheduled events. The moment we turned down the long road and crossed the water to reach the property, all of our cares were left behind. The property is serene, the home charming and spacious, the animals comforting, and Nancy, the host, generous and kind. My guests included ages that range from 70 years old to 7 months old. There could not have been a more perfect place to accommodate us. It was truly a home away from home.
We enjoyed the property with our two kids and their 'plus ones'! Great weekend for our family! The house is gorgeous! Very clean! We enjoyed playing outside but had plenty of room inside to enjoy each other! Nancy was a super nice host and was there for all of our needs! Highly recommend this listing!
The property is beautiful, both inside with the lovely decor and outside with the green lawn and grazing animals. Nancy and Jimmy could not have been better hosts. They helped my young grandchildren greet the horses, donkeys and dogs and to learn how best to approach them. The horse exerciser converted to an electrically powered swing with 4 seats was a huge hit with the kids. Three generations of us thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Hill House. Thank you, Nancy and Jimmy!
