Why Shell Ostler chose Yosemite Area

My husband and I met in beautiful Yosemite. When we would visit Yosemite we would stay in Mariposa and fell in love with the town. When the opportunity presented itself we both knew this is where we wanted to live the rest of our lives. The people are extremely friendly, the area is rich with history and you can't beat the beauty of Yosemite.

What makes this studio unique

For a small fee, we offer to stock the place with what you want so you don't need to spend valuable relaxing time shopping groceries.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our stay at the old oak hideaway had everything we needed. A nice, cozy cabin with easy acces to Yosemite. Shell and Dan were really friendly and welcoming. We would definitely recommend this place.

Amazing Little Hideaway!

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful loft with enough room for 5 people! The atmosphere is quiet and calm, you enjoy being away from all the noise and bustle. The rooster, turkey and goat noises are the absolute best ahaha. Shell is super sweet and attentive (although we didn't really bother her and vise versa) , we were able to spend some time talking to Shell about her homes and how they live life in the mountains. The trip to Yosemite isn't as long as I expected and id rather make that drive than deal with all the inner traffic that is Yosemite. Back to the "Loft", it is up a set of stairs, with A/C, a stove, Fridge, table and the most comfortable beds EVER! Plenty of parking and the cutest, friendliest dog named Dino! Before we left we were already talking about when we will be returning LOL.

Thank you Shell and Dan for having this place available for us to enjoy!

Relaxing place to come home to

  • 4 of 5

We were a party of 5 with 3 kids 5, 8 and 10. Used the loft as a base camp for Yosemite for a few days and it served its purpose well. Hosts have the place well stocked with various pots, pans, bowls, equipment and utensils. There were movies to watch and books to read and we never had any trouble with the wi-fi.

There is a farm right behind the place so if you're averse to the noises (and occasional smells) of goats, roosters, cows etc it might not be right for you but it never bothered us. We found several deer on the property one morning and several peacocks another.

Its around 50-60 minutes into Yosemite (El Portal gate) due to the weaving roads which was a bit more than I wanted but the kids didn't seem to mind our morning treks into the park. On my end, I enjoyed the watching the raging river as we wound up through the valley. GPS says the Fishcamp gate was essentially the same ETA.

Quiet, clean and beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed in the loft, we were greeted with a nice bottle of champagne and card to celebrate our anniversary! We enjoy quiet locations instead of busy hotels! This location fit the bill, no noisy doors slamming, just the quiet of nature could hear the cows and chickens if you were outside! Kitchen available if you want to cook! There is tv and games available we never turned it on! Wifi worked great! We could not get cell service with either T mobile or Verizon services. If we come back to visit Yosemite again will check into the loft again!

Thanks for a wonderful stay!

We really enjoyed our stay. The apartment was exactly as described, we'll furnished and very peaceful. The owners were very helpful with answering questions we had prior to our arrival as well.

Thanks Shell.
