About the property

Condo, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 6)

Views! Views! Views! Relax on your private deck and take it all in... seagulls, pelicans, sandpipers, otters, seals, dolphins, and sometimes even whales! Miles of whitewater and endless views of the sea!

You will love this Caycuos condo! It is a very quiet, upper story, end unit located directly on the beach with some of the best views ever. It was completely gutted and rebuilt in 2010 with loads of custom features that include granite counters, custom cabinetry, stainless appliances, a fully-equipped kitchen, fireplace, 2 large flat screen TVs, wifi, washer & dryer, and slate deck with outside electric grill. It is light and bright with large oceanfront windows and six skylights. One of the exciting features is a floor-to-ceiling picture window allowing one to enjoy waves breaking on the beach from the comfort of the upstairs bed in the master suite. Even more, the skylights above the bed open to allow enjoyment of the cool sea breeze and gentle sound of the waves. Truly, this this condo must be seen to fully appreciate!

After parking your car, you might never use it again until your stay has ended. Once you enter this condo and enjoy the deck and amenities, it is hard to leave the condo itself! However, you can easily walk to almost everything you might need or want.

This Cayucos condo is located 1/4 mile from the pier, restaurants, and shops in the town named as the Best Undiscovered Vacation Spot in the U.S. You will love this town that seems to have been forgotten by time. It is said to be one of the last authentic California seaside towns. It is filled with an ample assortment of unique restaurants that range from casual take out to high-end culinary delights. Indeed, one couple coming out of the famous Cass House restaurant told my wife and me that they rated this eatery, along with two others in Europe, as having the best food anywhere! Cayucos and its restaurants and shops have been written up in Sunset and Coast magazines and in various newspaper travel sections on quite a number of occassions. Without a doubt, there is something for every taste and every budget.

Besides all of the beautiful natural scenery and great eateries, Cayucos offers much more. Stroll the aisles of several multi-story antique shops, enjoy two trendy surf shops (which also offer equipment rentals), and be sure to stop in at the gift and jewelry boutiques. If you're feeling more energetic, you might choose bike riding, surfing, tennis (the tennis courts are only two-three blocks away), swimming (there is a public pool next to the tennis courts and park), fishing, or kayaking. It is almost impossible to get bored in Cayucos!

Step out the door of your condo and discover miles of beach. If you feel like an adventure, take the six-mile walk along the seashore to Morro Bay and have lunch in one of the many bayfront restaurants along the embarcadero. If you time it right, you can ride back and have the shuttle drop you right across the street from your vacation get-away.

For those interested in exploring destinations within a 30-minute radius, there are many to choose from including Morro Bay (marina, shops, restaurants, museum of natural history, golf), Montana de Oro State Park (hiking, beaching, horseback riding), the Pismo Dunes, San Luis Obispo (the mission, famous farmers market, Cal Poly, Madonna Inn), the wine country, Hearst Castle, the Elfin Forest, the Monarch Butterfly Grove, the Elephant Seal Viewing Area, etc. etc. etc.!

About The Owner

My wife and I are now retired after a long career in teaching. After a lifetime in education and farming, we are enjoying the simple life of spending time with family and close friends.

The Owner purchased this condo in 1987

Why The Owner chose Central Coast California

Both of us grew up in Southern California and enjoyed yearly summer vacations at the beach. It was there that the joy of being at the beach got in our blood. From then on, a vacation just didn't seem like a real vacation if we weren't at the beach! Coming from this background and perspective, it was only natural for us to seek our own relaxing beachside retreat and begin building memories with our children (and, now, grandchildren).

Cayucos was our choice because of its quaintness and its old-time California beach town charm. We were also attracted to Cayucos because of the family-friendly atmosphere and the sense of safety it offered to our young children when they were growing up.

What makes this condo unique

No place on earth has done more to build beautiful memories for our family than our condo in Cayucos. We have enjoyed celebrating many holidays here. Wonderful memories abound! swimming; kite flying; biking; fishing; bonfires with hotdogs and marshmellows; hide and seek in the dark on the beach; walks to Morro Bay; playing tennis; gatherings at Duckies, the Smokehouse, Schooners, and the Sea Shanty; the farmers market; the Peddlers' Fair; the Fourth of July parade, sand castle building contests, and fireworks; numerous sand dollar competions for the biggest, smallest and most; etc.; etc.; etc. .

Guestbook comments from the manager

I've rented many beach homes and this one moves to the top of the list. The décor is beautiful... warm and makes you feel at home. We have enjoyed the weekend and have already booked another stay next fall. Thanks for sharing this little piece of heaven on the beach!

My hubby and I wanted to get away to central CA for a few days and found this condo on VRBO. The minute we walked in we were both floored by the beauty, not only the view but the condo itself. It was so beautiful, immaculately clean, well stocked, and organized. The view was to die for (yes, there was a huge crane on the pier but it didn't bother us). The patio over looks the ocean and at high tide the ocean is even under you. The bedroom upstairs was very comfy, the bed was like sleeping on a cloud. You can't see the ocean from either bedroom but we opened the window to let the sound of the ocean lull us to sleep. During the day we pulled out the sleeper sofa downstairs and lounged there with our books so we could look up to see the view. We loved our stay here so much I didn't want to leave. There is a lot to do in the area, Cambria is a 20 minute drive to the north, the elephant seals are 25-30 minutes to the north, Morro Bay is a 5 min drive to the south, and you can walk into the town of Cayucos from the condo in 5 minutes.

Very impressed and pleased

  • 5 of 5

They have not spared any expense on this property. Absolutely beautiful! From the fixtures to the lighting all the way down to the linen, sooo soft! Million dollar view, can not beat it. Cayucos is a great little town, from the food to the shops and even has a community pool. The only problem with the whole experience was the pier is closed down due to stucture damage and is scheduled to start repairs this month. One of the major factors I chose this location was so my son and I could finally find time to do some pierfishing. There was no mention anywhere that tells you the pier is closed.

Top notch. SIX star rating!

  • 5 of 5

A beach house built on the Cayucos pier would not have a better view. The description on vrbo is not exaggerated. Truly worthwhile. Waves crash under your feet as you stand on the deck. This remodeled unit is worth the extras, super comfortable. All details are nicely though out. You will remember your stay here for a long time.

Beautiful, comfortable property--and what a view!

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent a week enjoying the stunning views this beautiful condo offers. We enjoyed many hours on the lovely deck.

This upstairs unit was spotless and nicely remodeled. We felt at home right away. The area feels safe, and there's abundant parking--at least in October (summer may be more challenging). Love the large trees. On the warmer days, we propped the front door open and let the breeze through--just lovely.

The furniture is nice--sofas are the kind that pull you in and don't want to let go. I wish I could have taken the kitchen and downstairs bath home with me. Beds are very comfortable, with memory foam toppers. Lots of shells used in decorations to tempt little fingers. Therefore I'd caution folks with young children. Or just be ready to lift lots of breakables out of reach when you arrive.

Unit is rented via a property manager--first time we've had that, after perhaps 7 or 8 VRBO rentals. But the management company was very professional and easy to work with. We rented Sunday to Sunday, and the office is closed worries, they explained exactly how to get our key, and it all went smoothly. Be aware that our rental contract said that linens were not included, but that must be a boilerplate, because the house has very nice linens. I'm glad I asked!

The "Welcome to our Home" book is helpful, with menus and other information. But don't believe it about the washer and dryer--it's not in the neighboring building. It's upstairs in a closet--a nice stacked set. So convenient!

Two gotchas that were no big deal for us, but might be for others. First: the dining table is a very small booth--if you're looking for a place where the family can have fun evening meals around the table, this may not be the right rental for you. Second: The description left us with the impression that there was a large window in the upstairs bedroom that opened to the outside. Not true--it's a very large non-opening window that overlooks the living room. At the right angle, you can look through the living room, and out the slider, and out to the beach. Not the impression we had from the description! Neither of these was a huge deal for us, but might be to others. So I would urge the owner to include a picture, or for renters to ask, if that's important to them.

Thank you very much for the lovely week--we enjoyed every minute of it. This rental was perfect for us, and if we ever find ourselves in Cayucos again, we will definitely stay here again.

Great Stay

  • 5 of 5

Wonderful beach view, thoughtfully and nicely remodeled, walking distance to world's best fish tocos yet removed from the business of downtown area. We couldn't have found a nicer place to spend four days and three nights. The quick trips to watch the elephant seals (strongly recommended ), walk the board walk in Cambria or shop the wharf in Morro Bay provide excellent entertainment when you aren't enjoying the beach. This property is a delightful retreat!! Highly recommended.
