About Teresa Safay

I have dreamed of providing a 'retreat' space to visitors for quite some time and recently had an opportunity to fullfill this dream. I look forward to offering a stay that is both peaceful and rejuvenating.

Teresa Safay purchased this house in 1982

Why Teresa Safay chose Ashland

I chose Ashland many years ago because this city offers a cosmopolitan feel of a large city and peacefulness of a small town.

What makes this house unique

237 B Street is located in Ashland's favorite historical neighborhood. It is a five minute stroll to Shakespeare, Ashland's many restaurants, shopping and the famous Lithia Park. You will not need to use your car once you have arrived.

Convenient location but the beds leave a lot to be desired

  • 1 of 5

Great location is close to shops, restaurants & theater. Alley way parking is fine, but carrying suitcases & food through two gates & around the side of an unlit building is work. When we rented the property online, I don't recall there being any notification that we were renting part of a house that has been carved up into multiple units. Our neighbors neglected to turn off the setting on their clock radio, so we were awakened to the blaring sounds at 6:15 am. Walls seemed to be thin & poorly insulated, as we could hear voices until the late hours. My biggest complaint was the beds. I am not a fan of foam mattresses or mattress tops. The beds were unbelievably hot & very uncomfortable. No sleep for two consecutive nights after driving 4 hours up & back is a steep price to pay.

Owner's Response: The troubling thing about this review is that I was given no opportunity to make things right for these guest during their visit. To add insult to injury, they left the place in such a state of disrepair that we considered filing a police report. Please look to the many other 4 and 5 star reviews that we have received, and know that we do our best to provide high quality accommodations. Our listing clearly states that the house is divided so that larger groups can enjoy the whole house. We litteraly spent thousands of dollars on our mattresses so that our guests would rest in luxurious comfort. I take being in the hospitality business very seriously, and would have been more than happy to reach an amicable agreement had they let us know they were not satisfied. To give us the lowest rating possible is unjust and simply not deserved. Other owners should be wary of renting to this guest.

Well priced for location and amenities

  • 5 of 5

Spacious 2 bedroom house 5 min walking distance to the Theater, main street, and food coop with private parking behind the house. Central AC worked perfectly fine and was very quiet. Full kitchen was on a smaller side, but worked fine for take-out and breakfast. Gas grill was actually in back yard shared with other rental property, but we enjoyed dining on the little front porch with plenty of shade and privacy. Everything else met our expectations and we certainly plan to come back

Wonderful location, well done restoration, and super responsive host

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Teresa was always available with information when we needed it and kindly accommodated our odd arrival and departure times. Comfy beds! Very clean. AC most welcone in 90• days! Small but serviceable kitchen for meals made with groceries from the outstanding Ashland Food Co-op a mere block away. Dining room as well as nice covered front porch with cafe table. Back garden is shared and very peaceful with a shared grill. The house is divided into several separate units. we hardly knew anyone else was there. Would happily come back.

Pleasant, cool and comfortable

  • 4 of 5

The house is as described: comfortable, clean, well-maintained and a great location close to downtown and the food co-op. We were so happy there was an air conditioner, since we were there during a heat wave of high 90's. And the off-street parking is a real plus. Overall we were quite satisfied.

For guests who like to cook, be aware the kitchen has basic tools: pots and pans, and dishes you'll need - but no decent cooking knife. And there are NO supplies for cooking like salt, pepper, cooking oil or any other amenities I've had at other Ashland rentals like spices, vinegar, honey, sugar, teas, etc.

Very nice

  • 4 of 5

The location was terrific for going to the Shakespeare Festival, and the house was comfortable. The beds were very comfortable, too. Off street parking was a valuable asset. The unit was a bit dark because several walls were inside walls without windows. Everything worked well for what we needed. We were able to save a lot of money eating at "home" and then we really enjoyed our meals out because we could splurge a little. Had a great visit to Ashland.
