This recently built, privately owned apartment is perfectly located in a residential area of the small fishing port of l'Ampolla. Ideal for family holidays, fishing and birdwatching enthusiasts, and property seekers alike. It offers lovely views of the sparkling blue Mediterranean from a balcony comfortably large enough to enjoy al fresco dining. It is situated within 100 metres of the sea and an easy walk along the pedestrian walkway into the shopping area with its shops, marina and fishing port and many bars and restaurants. In the other direction, just a few minutes walk is the amazingly long sandy Arenal beach and from there access to the Ebro delta, the renowned bird sanctuary and rice growing area of Catalonia. The 2 apartment blocks are set in fenced gardens with their own private parking area. We would recommend that you hire a car for at least a part of your stay in order to explore and enjoy the many delights of the area.

A lovely apartment
We've enjoyed this lovely apartment and found John to be amicable and helpful. The flat is well furnished with all you might need for your daily needs, including several maps of the local area. The nearest beach has free parking; however, some protective gear is needed if you plan to walk in the shallow area of the sea as there are several stones that you won't detect due to the algae which make the water a bit murky. The water is very warm and welcoming. If you prefer to drive you can reach a much bigger beach in 5", with a very clear sea; it's 0.90 cents to park for an hour and 1.90 Euros for 2h (after 10:00 a.m.) It becomes very busy after 11:00. The Tourist Information Office is about 10" away walk from the flat and an English-speaking guy will give you advice and free maps for the entire area, Barcelona included, and even the train timetables. Do ask him where Wi-Fi areas are located and he will give you the password and pin for 30 days of free Internet. Most areas in the centre are covered but not the area where the flat is. Alternatively, you can purchase a Digimobil SIM card for a few euros, which gives you plenty of megabites for internet navigation. Most shops offer only contracts or 10 megabites - we used Digimobil in Tortosa and the Pakistani owner speaks perfect English (remember to bring your passport for I.D.!). in L'ampolla, the seafood restaurant near the flat (Barraca) is very welcoming and the food is good. We also liked the gelateria in the centre (Jijonenca) which also caters for people with allergies (they have excellent sorbets - watermelon and Clementines). If you go to the large restaurant by the port (Pizzeria Casa David) it is best to avoid their pizza! It is all burnt on the bottom, far too thin and dry and overall tasteless: a far cry from their promise to cook better than the Italians. It was a hard task to cut it and we almost asked for a pair of scissors! LOL.
There is a large tourist shop in the sea front area which has most things you will need; however, for your beach towels you will spend 13 to 19 Euros while if you go to the supermarket on the back road you will spend around 8! L'Ampolla is very good for cycling - surprisingly there is no cycling rental there yet! Free parking for all tourists is available near the sport centre. Overall, a very nice experience.
Highly recommendable rental
As formerly written by other customers, this apartement is as lovely and well-furnished as it looks in the photos.
You can find all you need as kitchen ustensils or cutlery and everything is perfectly clean.
The sea views from the balcony are gorgeous and the surroundings very quiet whatever the time.
It is very close to the lovely "playa de l'arenal" and a pleasant 20 minutes' walk to the town centre.
And, to finish with, John is definitively a marvellous host who can be trusted for any advice you can need about the area.
Apartment in l'Ampolla
Apartment was very accurately listed with lovely sea views. Inside is basic with everything you could want and very clean. John and Carol were very friendly and very easy to deal with. There is an excellent restaurant at the end of the street looking out on the sea, went there a few times and was never disappointed. Stroll to the town along the front and boardwalk takes about twenty minutes, any amount of very good restaurants especially at the pier and very good value.

Vacances très agréables
Conforme à la description avec en plus le wifi installé récemment. La vue sur le delta est belle, la terrasse abritée permet d'en profiter et l'appartement est dans un quartier calme et très proche de la mer. Très satisfait Le seul point serait de disposer d'un plat pour le four suffisamment grand.
Nous avons séjourné dans l'appartement de John, 11jours ( du 18 aout au 29 aout).
Nous nous sommes régalés.
Nous avons pu découvrir le site du Delta, sa faune sa flore , ses plages...
Pas trop de touristes étrangers , avec encore une ambiance Espagnole et familiale.
Cet appartement est idéalement situé, légèrement désaxé de la route du bord de mer, du camping , de L'Ampolla...tout en étant dans l'arrondissement de l'Ampolla.
La voie ferrée au nord n'est pas du tout une gène.
L'appartement est très agréable , tout y est , y compris les ventilos.
La terrasse est extra pour les ptits dej face à la mer, ainsi que les repas à l'ombre.
Nous allions à la plage à pied en 10min, en passant la plage de l'arenal, vers la réserve naturelle ( beaucoup moins de monde et plus sauvage).
Grace à cet appartement nous avons pu découvrir tout le Delta et les sites associés ( Phare du fangar , éco musé, salines, plage du trabucador, cap roig...).
Il faut compter 45min pour aller jusqu'à Péniscola et presque 2h pour Valence.
C'est juste à une petite heure de tarragone.
Le chemin des douanniers (GR 92) peut se faire depuis l'appart, très belle balade.
Bref, beaucoup de choses à faire aux alentours y compris à l'intérieur des terres , que nous n'avons malheureusement pas pris le temps de faire ( faute de temps...).

L'appartement est très fonctionnel, le propriétaire est sympathique et disponible si le moindre problème. Nous avons séjourné deux semaines avec 2 enfants. Nous avons aimé les plages(pas trop de monde). Seul bémol climatisation manuelle Dans la chambre des enfants c'était étouffant. Malgré cela nous avons passé d'Agréable vacances.
L'Ampolla Mar is situated on the edge of the Ebro delta, 2km from the fishing community of L'Ampolla. For 9 months of the year, L'Ampolla is a quiet parochial village/town, which in summertime transforms into an animated and very popular holiday destination. The fishing harbour, with it's daily fresh fish sales, sits alongside the modern marina, purpose built for the Barcelona Olympics. There is a plethora of family owned bars, restaurants and small shops.There is a daily market to be found either in L'Ampolla or one of the many neighbouring towns and villages. The area offers something for all tastes. Historic towns and cities, Tortosa at 30km and Tarragona at 70km. Beautiful scenic views. The quaint medieval village of Miravet being a perfect example, with it's little ferry crossing and hilltop castle of the knights templar. The bird conservation area of the delta and for the young at heart, Port Aventura amusement and aqua parks are just an easy 30 mins car or train journey away.
Other Activities: Excellent birdwatching on the delta, carp fishing on the river ebro, a new 18 hole pitch and putt course 2 km away
