About Kimberly & Jared Dunten
We grew up in the Austin and Lake Travis areas and have lived here most of our adult lives. We have watched the area grow and are happy to be able to share Cabin 71 with travelers. We live on the property. Cabin 71 has been the family home, the guest home and now a vacation guest home that we enjoy sharing with out guests.
Kimberly & Jared Dunten purchased this Cabin in 2000
Why Kimberly & Jared Dunten chose Pedernales Canyon Ranch
Cabin 71 is a unique structure. All logs were hand-milled by the artists who originally built the house in the 1980's. It is situated beautifully on the property with many oak trees and a creek bed. It is tucked away for privacy yet just off of Hwy 71 for easy access to Austin and the surrounding hill country. There are several vineyards in the area, natural attraction such as Krausse Springs and Hamilton Pool. Just 15 minutes from shopping in Bee Cave and 25 minutes from Marble Falls. Notable restaurants include Apis, J5 Steakhouse, It's All Good BBQ and Angel's Icehouse.
What makes this Cabin unique
The stone fireplace is the hearth of the home. Please feel free to enjoy the fireplace while you are here. There are several porches where you can enjoy coffee, breakfast, or grill on the charcoal grill in the evenings. There is an outdoor firepit as well. The cabin includes two antique clawfoot tubs and other family heirloom antique pieces as well. The house is filled with original art work by artist Jared Dunten (owner). It is an intimate and inspiring setting.

I cannot emphasize how amazing this place is. If you want to relax and have a peaceful getaway this is the place for you. It’s nestled in the woods but very close to everything! I would love to retire in a place like this. Kim was super friendly and attentive. Thank you! We had a wonderful time!

We had a great time, the cabin was spotless and Kimberley was incredibly helpful! Would definitely stay again.
House is great. We stayed 2 nights. Quiet and peaceful setting in a beautiful house.
The property is gorgeous and the cabin is spacious and comfortable.
We highly recommend this cabin. It has all the comforts of home and the fireplace was quite a center piece.
Thank you so much, we are so glad to hear you enjoyed the fireplace!
Beautiful setting nestled in TX hill country, very clean and comfortable rustic home.
Kimberly greeted us upon arrival in a friendly and gracious manner. She made us feel right at home. The home was very nicely appointed and the kitchen had everything we needed. The step up master bedroom was beautiful as was the sitting room leading up to it. The home sits far enough back from highway 71 so that highway noise was not a problem. The upstairs loft bedroom was comfortable and provided a good view down to the living room and rock fireplace. Ceiling fans in most rooms were a very nice feature. We went to the adjacent Living Desert Ranch Gift Shop. In addition the ranch had a greenhouse selling a good selection of cactus and colored glass chunks which are sold by the pound. We met and spoke with Darrel Dunten, Jared's father. He owns the Living Desert Ranch and was very friendly and helpful in answering our questions about the cactus and glass offerings. There was a covered, and lighted carport which we appreciated. Restaurants are close by and quite good. We recommend Angel's Ice House for dinner and Willie's BBQ for a delicious breakfast burrito.
Thank you so much, Mr. Schweitzer! We are so glad you enjoyed the property and the area. Please come back anytime!
