About the property

Relaxation and Fun!

Plan your perfect getaway here, in Elk Neck, approximately eight miles south of the town of North East, MD.

We have a unique property here, along the Elk River, set back in a quiet cove, with creeks on each side and a beautiful view of the River.

Watch the Eagles and Osprey soaring above the creek looking for their next meal! There are also plenty of Blue Heron, Geese, and Ducks. In the evenings, you may see deer playing along the shoreline.

The home is completely furnished and includes a fully-stocked kitchen- you just need to bring the food!

We have all the linens and towels you will need and plenty of blankets and pillows, too, and all beds are freshly made in time for your arrival, so you don't need to do a thing!

We love our Guests and I just want to say a huge "Thank You!!" to everyone who has chosen to stay here at The Woods and thank you for all of your Guestbook entries and Online Reviews (and if you never got around to leaving one here, it's never too late!). You all are so awesome!!! As you all know, Gene and Steve and I, work so hard here and it has been such a blessing to have had such wonderful Guests who treat our home as their own and to just see how much fun you have here, is just the best and makes all of our hard work so worth it!! And, incase any of you are reading this, the bridge is finally fixed and it's great!! Now it will be so much faster to get to Turkey Point for that beautiful walk to the Lighthouse!

Thank you for checking out my page! Can't wait to meet you!

About Kim

My name is Kim and I am married to Steve. I own this rental property with my brother, Gene. We inherited the property from our Grandmother.

Steve and I have 4 kids; ages 27, 22, 20, and 15. Steve is a Systems Engineer and my main job is keeping this property going and I am also caregiver to my other Grandmother.

Gene works hard, both with his Masonry business and here on the property. He has one son who is 21. Gene enjoys being on the water in his bass boat or kayak. He also loves deep-sea fishing and traveling to Assateague Island.

Kim purchased this house in 2012

Why Kim chose Chesapeake Bay

This beautiful property has been in my family since 1918 when my Grandfather moved here from NY with his parents; he was 5 years old. My Dad grew up here, and then Gene and I grew up here as well. And we love it so much, we are still here, on the property (so we are very close if you need anything during your stay).

When we were growing up, our Grandparents rented the property for summer rentals and those are our favorite childhood memories, so we are so excited to be bringing that back!

What makes this house unique

One of my favorite things is being out on the water. It is so serene and I believe it's the most beautiful, peaceful place. I leave my stress behind as I kayak and enjoy the summer breeze and the sunshine and all of the wildlife- it is truly awesome!

Fantastic Trip

  • 5 of 5

A group of 3 of us were in town for a week fishing the Upper Chesapeake Bay.

The property was set back in the woods in a very tranquil setting, and Kim and Steve made sure that we had everything we need.

Will be back in the future for sure!

Clean, central location to Baltimore and Philadelphia

  • 4 of 5

Very nice home. Kim is very friendly and helpful. she had cookies and wine for us when we arrived. Quick response to all communications. a storm blew through and took out the power and as soon as she knew the power was out, she had somebody working on it. I was impressed with how fast she got it repaired. Be aware that the road is a private drive that is unpaved. The town of North East is a beautiful little tourist town with plenty of dining options and plenty of little shops to explore and a great park to walk in. The only downside was the inability to get to the water from the property. You have to continue down the drive to get access to the water as the shore in front of the home is overgrown with briars.

Beautiful place

  • 5 of 5

We stayed the weekend at Kim's and Steve cabin, the cabin is extremely clean & had everything we needed.

The surrounding area is beautiful with access to the river. Kim and Steve were great Hosts! very friendly and they were very sweet, they got us cookies and a bottle of wine which was a great touch.

Looking Forward to be back again!

A Quiet Getaway in a Great Location

  • 4 of 5

Step out back and take in the magnificent view. Eagles soaring over the woods, badgers building on the river and your own expansive backyard complete with Adirondack chairs, barbeque grill, mini-playground and plenty of space to relax. Or hop in your car and travel twenty minutes to a beautiful State Park with gorgeous views of Chesapeake bay. Or travel into the quaint town of North East and enjoy some of the best crabcakes anywhere!

The vacation home is lovely, extremely well maintained and contains pretty much every amenity you could want. Kim and Steve, the owners, could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Not only did they meet us and give us a tour around the grounds (and how to find the house which is a bit tucked away), but they also left a playpen for our granddaughter, brought extra Adirondack chairs without us even asking, and in general made sure we had everything we needed. We really felt taken care of.

The house itself is actually a double-trailer, though living in it a few days, you forget your not in a really nice apartment. More than ample kitchen and bedrooms (the living room is a bit small but the dining area sat all 6 of us comfortably).

A very short walk brings you to a small beach with boats for you to use and a dock to fish off of. It is a really quaint, quiet and lovely setting with lots to do nearby. And the owners really help make it a wonderful experience.

Perfect spot for seclusion and R&R

  • 5 of 5

My wife found this place for my brother and I to enjoy for some good brother time alone. We just stayed here this past weekend. We were looking for a quiet, secluded place to relax and get away from our busy lives. While there are some properties nearby, we barely saw anyone else during our stay. The property is very clean and the owners provide almost anything you could possibly need during your stay. Just bring some clothes and food and you're all set. Morning coffee by the water watching the Osprey's, Eagles, ducks and more was the best. It was a hot weekend and I can confirm that the air conditioning works great. One of the highlights for us was taking out the owner's kayaks during the sunset. There are great towns nearby where you can get crabs and/or take boat cruises. The owners, Kim and Steve are great, very nice and helpful. I definitely will plan to come back another time with my brother and my wife will love it as well. I highly recommend this place.
