We built this home in 1990 as a family retreat and it has been enjoyed year round by our family and friends.
Betsy Alden purchased this house in 1990
Westways is a premier destination for those who seek lake living as it has been for years. Kezar Lake is quiet and beautiful. Westways was originally the corporate retreat for Diamond Match Corporation. The property has several large docks, a recreation hall, tennis court, softball field, Fives Court (antique handball), and almost three miles of trails through the wooded common area. The Westways community values quiet, rural life and has preserved the common buildings and facilities with care.
Local Donald Ross designed golf course. Bass and salmon fishing. Great local hiking on adjacent Greater Lovell Land Trust Reservations. Great rolling hills for biking. Canoe or kayak on the lake. Playing board games with family.
My friends and I have been moving around every year to get together and catch up and have some summer fun. This is the fourth place we've been to and I heard from everyone it was our favorite. It's close enough to activities that make it easier to do something on the nice days, but is also secluded enough to make it the perfect vacation getaway. It sits on Kezar Lake, which is also one of the best lakes in Maine, in my opinion. There were also nine of us, which is a lot of people, but none of us felt crowded or cramped in this place. It was perfect. Thank you for having us, Betsy.
What a wonderful place for a week-long 3-generation family vacation - three grandparents, two sets of parents, and four pre-school children. The house was beautifully decorated, very well stocked with sheets, towels, bathroom supplies, etc.; the kitchen had everything we needed for cooking and serving big meals; and the cable/internet connections were excellent. There was plenty of space for all of us to be together, to break up into sub-groups, or to get some alone time. The big grassy area near the dock, with a great climbing set, was especially popular with all the grandchildren. The owner was extremely attentive, giving us tips on boat rental, eating and shopping opportunities, as well as responding immediately to any questions we had about Association rules and regulations. We are already talking about a repeat visit.
We were a group of 9 adults and 3 kids who stayed in this beautiful home over the last weekend. The house was clean and well appointed. Kitchen pantry was stocked with all essentials. Bathrooms were neat and tidy with plenty of towels for use. Everyone enjoyed sitting beside the fireplace in the living room. The living room was spacious enough to accomodate all of us. We totally loved the pool table. Betsy, the owner is a pleasure to work with. She promptly answered all our queries and also sent us a list of restaurants around the area. She even warned us about the snow accumulation in the area. So there were no surprises as such. We are thinking of going again in summer.
Westways has a recreation hall with a hand set bowling alley with two lanes, ping pong and pool table.
