Overview

Draguignan region Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa with private pool with direct access to the River Argens

This delightful villa situated in the heart of the Var region and alongside the River Argens is perfectly placed for a holiday full of relaxation or for the explorer. Visit the renowned lavender fields in June.

This lovely South facing property has beautiful landscaped gardens and pool. Secret lighting and curving steps giving direct and private access to the River Argens where one is able to relax on the shaded decking and watch the crystal waters glide slowly by. Guests may simply watch the multitude of bird and animal life which thrive along the rivers banks. The property and grounds are secured by electric gates.

The lovely village of Lorgues is a mere 4km drive from the property. Guests will find everything they require including banks, supermarkets, petrol stations plus all manner of fascinating shops and excellent restaurants. An added bonus is the street market which is held every Tuesday morning.

Caretaker Contact Information: During your stay, Robert and Inci will be your first port of call if the need arises. If you require a mid stay clean in which case direct payment of 60 Euros to the caretakers is required. If you wish a meal to be cooked for you at the villa please speak to Robert and Inci.

Their contact phone number is 0494 722890 Mobile 0033628605768 to them

Crossing the borders: Ventigmiglia just over the border in Italy offers a wonderful all day market every Friday. This is well worth a visit as many bargains can be had and excellent pizzas and chianti, Get there early to avoid heavy traffic in the summer and get a parking space. Apart from this being a wonderful day out the journey includes fabulous scenery, passes through Monte Carlo and Menton ( a lovely Provencal seaside resort ) and we recommend you keep to the coast road to enter Italy rather than the motorway. As you pass through Latte visit the supermarket Conrad to stock up on discounted alcohol.

Seasonal activities: During the spring and autumn is an ideal time to visit this part of France as there is a wealth of beautiful flora and fauna and several good birdwatching sites nearby e.g, Hyeres, Lac du Carces, Gorge du Verdon. The main lavender growing region of the Luberon is a couple of hours drive and makes a nice day out during June and July. Especially the area around Simiane la Ritonde and Manosque.

If you are travelling by car it is worth bringing your bikes as there a many scenic designated cycles routes in the Var region and the villa is situated alongside a lane popular with local walkers and cyclists.

As the villa is right on the River Argens you may be tempted toward canoeing and these may be hired near the village of Carces or enquire in the Office du Tourism in Lorgues.

And one of our favourite activities during any season is wine tasting in any of the many caves that surround the villa. However, we recommend Chateau La Crostes, Taradeau, and Chateau de Berne.

A beautiful setting for a wonderful holiday

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful location for a peaceful holiday. Ideally placed for access to the town of Lorgues, supermarkets, local vineyards and approximately an hour from St.Tropez. The house is well equipped, private and not overlooked.and Amanda was extremely helpful. The river is beautiful and accessible from the house if you want to swim or play on the rope swing. There are local markets which are worth visiting and restaurants in Lorgues. We would definitely recommend this property.

We could not have wished for better

  • 5 of 5

My family and I lead busy lives. We needed a tranquil home from home in peaceful and beautiful surroundings, but not too far away from the towns and villages. Well, what can I say about ‘Riverhouse’? It is possibly the most perfect of locations, set just above the emerald River Argens where bird and wildlife abound. A huge bonus was being able to swim in the crystal swimming pool when returning from trips to Nice and St Tropez. We spent lazy evenings relaxing in the twilight with local wine and olives. What more could we ask? Needless to say, we did not want to leave this beautiful and comfortable villa.....however, we will return without a doubt, preferably during June next year when the lavender fields are in full bloom.

I'm so pleased you were able to relax and unwind from your busy lives. Although we love every month here, as there is always something special to see, June is renowned for the lavender and is quite a spectacular sight, so I look forward to welcoming you again maybe next June. Kind regards Amanda

I can't wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

I loved my stay at this lovely accommodation. It was clean and convenient inside, with a lovely garden, pool, and a river outside. Rural views in every direction, and easy walks or drives into town. A most peaceful place, with birdsong and the clip-clop of a horse and very occasional vehicles the only disturbances.

Riverside is central to many of Provencal tourist spots. I can't wait to go back!

Quiet villa in Lorgues

  • 4 of 5

Excellent property in a quiet location near Lorgues. Pretty garden where one can sit on the riverbank and totally relax. Could be somewhat remote for some as one has to negotiate some very narrow lanes to get to the town - others may regard this as a bonus. House was maintained to a high standard and had every amenity one could wish for in a holiday home. Lots to do in the area and within striking distance of the coast - St Tropez highly recommended for a day trip (park in Sainte Maxime and take the ferry - drink wine on the balcony of Hotel Sube and watch the world go by).

Owner's Response: Many thanks for your comments, we're pleased you were able to relax and enjoy Riverhouse. The lane follows the river Argens and is a little narrow in places, however it is considered an area of unspoilt natural beauty, (real Provence!). It feels remote, given the peace and quiet, a haven from the hustle and bustle, but it is only 15 minutes from our gates to the main motorways.Thank you for the tip re catching the ferry to St. Tropez, a good way to avoid the summer traffic! Look forward to welcoming you again, kind regards Amanda

Delightful Villa

  • 5 of 5

We have enjoyed several stays at Riverhouse and found the house so comfortable and relaxing. A perfect holiday retreat by the river which brings changing interest, and it's own lovely pool with lighting, great to relax by at night. The house is well equipped, always clean, and colourful furnishings add to its charm.

Nearby Lorgues, Gorges du Verdon and many other interesting places within easy reach.

A great place to stay which is hard to leave!

Lorgues in September

  • 4 of 5

Excellent property - nicely equipped and the garden was landscaped beautifully. The only problem we encountered was the access into the driveway from the lane. As the lane is narrow, it needs a tight turn to get through the gates. But there is a lot of loose material on the lane surface such that the car skidded a lot. The lane there just needs the surface repairing. Otherwise we have a very enjoyable stay.

Owner's Response: We appreciate your comments and are happy you had an enjoyable stay. As the property is situated in an area of outstanding natural beauty the lane is narrow in places. The loose material on the surface of the road has been removed, we are sorry you skidded, this is something I have never encountered. Kind regards Amanda
