About Sandra Whitaker

Thirteen years ago we bought 13 acres of land to build a cabin to vacation in with plans to later build a small retirement home and use the cabin as quest quarters. When we ended up building a larger house than planned, we decided to rent out the cabin.

Don is a retired Cardiologist, and Sandra is a retired teacher. We have hiked this area for over 30 years and knew that we would want to spend the rest of our lives here.

While we genuinely love hiking, Don is passionate about taking pictures of wild flower and nature, and Sandra is very active at Brevard Health & Racquet Club.

It’s great being able to walk out our door with our dogs to so many beautiful trails. There is so much wild life to discover.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Thank you so much for sharing your wonderful cabin with us. We appreciate how all the rooms are immaculate and beautifully appointed. I love the super soft blankets on the beds! We enjoyed the scenery, the musical DVDs, and the kitchen stocked with everything we needed for all our meals. It's hard to leave such a wonderful place.

Perfect little cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed in this cabin for a few days while vacationing in Brevard. The cabin was less than a 10 minute drive from some of the most beautiful waterfalls we had ever seen. It's super secluded! One night it rained for a bit, and the sound it made on the tin roof was like a symphony. The cabin was very clean and comfortable, and the owners of the cabin were very hospitable. We felt right at home.

Even though we're nature freaks and spent most of our time hiking, it was nice to have the town of Brevard within a short driving distance from the cabin. We went out one night for dinner, and the town itself was very charming, with a nice selection of locally owned restaurants. We even saw a white squirrel!

We will absolutely stay at this cabin again the next time we plan a hiking trip!

Thank you so much!

Great mountain getaway

  • 5 of 5

This cabin was so perfect for us. Sandra was very flexible with letting us bring our three dogs who we hate to leave at home. Although it is a little challenging to get to the cabin, it is well worth it. Beautiful mountain views all around and lovely hiking right out the door. Plus you were just a mere 10 minutes from Dupont.

The property was immaculate. Conveniently located near Brevard and other attractions. Highly recommend if you like peace and quiet away from it all. Would definitely stay there again.

Great quiet get away close to hiking, waterfalls, downtown, and breweries!

  • 5 of 5

Very clean, peaceful cabin with plenty of space. Close enough to spend a day in Asheville if you want, and very close to hiking, waterfalls, downtown Brevard, and Oskar Blues Brewery. Nice movie selection for a rainy day, which we took advantage of. The only thing I would recommend is getting the GPS coordinates to the cabin. Using GPS to the address will not work the owner will notify you of this, and the owner will give you verbal directions. But if use GPS coordinates it will take you right there.
